They seek relief measures from the government, including a rollback of GST on farming activities and an increase in the income support provided under the PM-Kisan scheme, a BKS member said. A note issued by the BKS said "state and central governments will face trouble if they do not heed the farmers' demand in time". The farmers have also called for revocation of the permission for commercial production of genetically modified crops and remunerative prices for their produce based on the input cost. Launc

Kamal Nath challenges BJP, RSS to discuss religion, spirituality with Rahul

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath on Sunday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders to have a discourse on religion and spirituality with Rahul Gandhi, claiming it will prove he has more knowledge about these subjects than them. Talking to reporters in Soyatkalan town of Agar Malwa district on the last day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra's Madhya Pradesh leg before it enters Rajasthan, Nath said is a possibility that Gandhi may embark on another yatra from "east to west" in the country. Gandhi started the yatra, a mass contact initiative, from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7. The foot march will reach Jammu and Kashmir by the end of next month and culminate there. During the yatra in MP, Gandhi had visited the famous Lord Mahakal Temple in Ujjain and also offered prayers at the Omkareshwar Temple in Khandwa district. Asked about Gandhi focusing on religion and spirituality in his speeches during the foot march, Na

RSS, BJP want to finish off Constitution discreetly: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) want to "finish off" the Constitution discreetly. He was speaking at a rally after his Bharat Jodo Yatra reached Mhow, the birthplace of Dr B R Ambedkar, on Constitution Day. The Congress leader also spoke about the assassinations of late prime minister Indira Gandhi, his grandmother, and his father Rajiv Gandhi, and said he still does not harbour hatred for anyone including his political foes. Without naming the RSS, Gandhi said, "There is an organisation which has not unfurled our beloved Tri-colour of the Constitution at its office for 52 years. "Why? The work which Ambedkar ji and the Congress did jointly, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru.Subhash Chandra Bose ji... (Such) Great personalities gave us the Constitution," he said. The RSS was criticized by its detractors in the past for not hoisting the Tricolour at its offices for several years after ...

PM Modi is 'swayamsevak', but RSS does not control anyone: Mohan Bhagwat

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said though Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been its volunteer, the Sangh does not control any person or organisation that is doing independent work. Bhagwat was speaking at an interaction with prominent members of the local community here. "When the Sangh's name comes up, people think of Modi ji. Modi ji is our 'swayamsevak' (volunteer)...," he said. People also think of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) when somebody talks about the RSS, and there are swayamsevaks in that organization too and their thinking is similar, he added. "But these all are not the Sangh. They are doing their own work, the Sangh is doing its own independent work," he added. While the RSS and such organizations and persons (who have been RSS volunteers) have a connection, and sometimes the Sangh helps them for a good cause, "there is no control; there is neither direct control nor indirect control (over them)...," Bhagwat stressed. Everyone living in India is 'Hindu', says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday said every person living in the country is a 'Hindu' and the DNA of all Indians is the same, and asserted there was no need for anyone to change his way of offering rituals. Addressing an event of Swayamsevaks (Sangh volunteers) in Ambikapur, the headquarters of Chhattisgarh's Surguja district, he repeatedly highlighted unity in diversity as India's age-old feature and said Hindutva is the only idea in the world that believes in taking everyone along. We have been telling since 1925 (when RSS was founded) that everyone living in India is a Hindu. Those who consider India as their 'matrubhoomi' (mother land) and want to live with a culture of unity in diversity and make efforts in this direction, irrespective of whatever religion, culture, language and food habit and ideology they follow, are Hindus, Bhagwat said. He said the ideology of Hindutva recognises diversity and believes in unity among people. Hindutva is the

RSS body slams Delhi govt ban on all kinds of firecrackers during Diwali

The RSS-affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch on Saturday slammed the AAP-led Delhi government over the imposition of a complete ban on all kinds of firecrackers in the city, terming the move "inappropriate and unscientific". It also alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal government's "blanket ban" on firecrackers was aimed at misguiding people and diverting their attention from the real cause of air pollution in the national capital. Government agencies have failed to solve the problem of stubble burning in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and other parts of the country even though it is the "biggest source" of air pollution in the national capital and the surrounding northern states, the SJM said without naming anyone. "The SJM strongly opposes the complete ban on firecrackers by the Delhi government during the festival of Diwali as it is inappropriate," it said in a statement. "The SJM also urges all state governments to make efforts to find a permanent solution to the problem of stubble burning and

'RSS raising religious conversion issues to divert attention from failures'

BSP president Mayawati alleged on Saturday that the RSS is raising issues related to religious conversion and the population policy to divert people's attention from the failures of the BJP government at the Centre. She also said the "silence" of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on the present situation in the country is harmful. "The discordant voice being raised by the RSS now over the new population policy and religious conversion for diverting the attention of the people of the country reeling under the curse of a massive inflation, unemployment, violence and disorder is grossly improper. This is a planned conspiracy to divert the attention from the failures of the BJP government," the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said while addressing a daylong convention of the office-bearers of her party's state unit here. "Actually, this campaign by the RSS is being taken up before the next (2024) Lok Sabha polls as part of a conspiracy to support the BJP and its government and i
