Wenger given Old Trafford send-off by Ferguson

Outgoing Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was warmly greeted by the Manchester United fans and presented with a gift by former United boss Alex Ferguson on his final visit to Old Trafford as Gunners' boss today. Wenger and Ferguson were fierce rivals for many years as Arsenal and United battled for Premier League supremacy in Wenger's first decade of a 22-year reign in charge. However, the tension between the two has since eased, and Ferguson greeted Wenger on the touchline before kick-off before presenting him with a glass momento alongside current United manager Jose Mourinho. Mourinho has also had his spats with Wenger, most famously decribing the Frenchman as a "specialist in failure" for his inability to win the Premier League since 2003/04. It was all smiles as the Portuguese and Wenger enjoyed a warm embrace before kick-off while Wenger was applauded by the United support. "There are some great clubs and some fantastic competition in the Premier League now, but United against ...

Kohli 68 takes RCB to 175/4 vs KKR

Skipper Virat Kohli was once again the stand-out performer with an unbeaten 44-ball-68 as Royal Challengers Bengaluru managed a below-par 175 for 4 against Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL encounter, here tonight. It was a patchy batting performance from the home team and Indian captain's fourth half-century of the season ensured that they had some kind of a total on board. Kohli's innings comprised of five fours and three sixes while Brendon McCullum contributed 38 off 28 balls. Two of the three sixes struck by Kohli were pure delight. Both were hit off Andre Russell. With minimum backlift, Kohli whipped one on the blockhole into the long-on stands while the other was a flick into the deep mid-wicket stand. The final six came off the last delivery of the innings as he dispatched one into the mid-wicket stands. RCB's first 10 overs wasn't as productive as they lost three wickets for 75 runs. It was primarily due to Kohli that they managed another 100 runs in the back-10. The slow start

Slick City equal Premier League win record

Manchester City equalled the Premier League record for most wins in a season as the imperious champions powered to a 4-1 victory at West Ham today. Pep Guardiola's side now have 30 wins this term, matching the record set by Chelsea last season, and will take sole possession of the milestone with one more success in their last three games. Sweeping West Ham aside with their trademark swagger, City went ahead through Leroy Sane before an own goal from their former defender Pablo Zabaleta doubled the lead. Aaron Cresswell's free-kick reduced the deficit before half-time, but Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho netted for City after the interval. Simply untouchable for most of the season, City are bidding to cement their status as one of the all-time great Premier League teams by rewriting the record books. Hamilton wins chaotic Baku battle to lead title race

Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton claimed his first win of 2018 today and took over as leader of the title race when he triumphed in a dramatic, crash-strewn Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The 33-year-old Briton, who had struggled for outright pace, managed to steer his Mercedes through a chaotic race and capitalize on others' misfortunes to register his first victory in seven races and the 63rd of his career. Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari looked set to turn pole position into a victory until a second Safety Car intervention left him lunging to pass Valtteri Bottas and locked up and ran off. Bottas then seemed sure to win, but suffered a sudden right rear puncture on his Mercedes after running over metal debris on the straight. Hamilton flew past to return to the top of the podium "That was quite an emotional race, to be honest," said hamilton, who now leads the championship by four points from Vettel. "Valtteri deserved to have the win and also Sebastian did a great job. I was very ...

Bowlers on target as Sunrisers beat Royals by 11 runs to claim top spot

Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers' impressive defence of modest totals continued as the visitors pulled off a 11-run win over Rajasthan Royals on a tricky pitch to claim the top spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here today. Electing to bat, Hyderabad posted 151 for seven, built around captain Kane Williamson's 63-run knock, his fourth fifty of the season, and his 92-run partnership with Englishman Alex Hales (45) , playing his first game of this edition. They set up the platform for a kill towards the end, but once they were dismissed, none of the following batsmen could make a substantial contribution. For the hosts, Jofra Archer (3/26) was once again impressive with his pace and consistent execution of yorkers, while spinner Krishnappa Gowtham provided vital breakthroughs, conceding only 18 runs in his four overs. Home captain Ajinkya Rahane (65 not out, 53 balls) showed patience and Sanju Samson hit a 30-ball 40 but they left too much for the end. Hyderabad pace duo of Sandeep ...
