Ali Qamar, Poonam become 2-star AIBA coaches
The country's first Commonwealth Games gold-medallist in boxing Mohammad Ali Qamar and high-performance manager Poonam Beniwal were among the 13 Indians, who passed the International Boxing Association's two-star certificate course for coaches. Qamar, who won his CWG gold in 2002 Manchester and is currently an assistant coach with the senior women's camp, and Beniwal, associated with the senior men's camp right now, gave the examination during a clinic conducted in September last year. Beniwal is the wife of 2010 Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Akhil Kumar, who is currently serving as the national observer for boxing. Also clearing the test was long-time men's assistant coach C A Kuttappa, who has been credited by the likes of Olympic bronze-medallist Vijender Singh and world bronze-medalist Shiva Thapa for shaping them. Discus thrower Seema Punia will be dope-tested by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) ahead of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, as she as she could not be tested during the 22nd Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championships.Punia won a gold on the opening day of the Athletics Championships at the NIS Patiala. She was scheduled to be tested by the NADA on March 6 here, but the anit-doping officials reportedly did not turn up on time.In a telephonic interview with ANI, Athletics Federation of India (AFI) Secretary General CK Valson said, "It's a fumble from NADA. Officials reached here the next day on March 6 but by that time Punia had left for home."He further informed that the NADA has now asked the federation to provide a location where Punia can be tested."Now they asked us to provide her location and other details which we have shared now it's up to them that how they will conduct the test," Valson said.

The inaugural edition of the Super Cup will be played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar, starting March 15. All the 20 Indian clubs playing in the ISL and I-League will participate in the Super Cup.
