Impressive 12-0 win for RSPB
Anupa Barla scored a hat-trick while Deepika struck four times as Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) demolished Chhattisgarh Hockey 12-0 for their second win in a row in the Hockey India Senior Women National Championship, here Friday. It was Anupa who ensured a flying start for RSPB by scoring in the second, seventh and eighth minute. Monika, then put her team ahead 4-0 with a fine goal in the 17th minute while Priyanka Wankhede, who had scored six goals in their first match on Thursday, converted a splendid PC in the 28th minute fetching RSPB a 5-0 lead at half-time. Deepika scored in the 32nd, 35th, 38th and 52nd minute. Meanwhile Navneet Kaur (49), Vandana Katariya (53) and Lilima Minz (55) scored a goal each in their commanding win. Thompson, Bhambri head field for Chennai Open ATP Challenger
Australia's Jordan Thompson and India's Yuki Bhambri head the field for the Chennai Open ATP Challenger tennis tournament commencing here on February 12. Thompson, ranked 94 in the ATP rankings, will be the top-seed while Bhambri the second-seed, a TNTA release said. The cut-off for the singles draw in the USD 50,000 tournament is 277. The other Indians in the main draw are Saketh Myneni, Sumit Nagal and Prajnesh Gunneswaran. Four more Indian players are likely to be handed wild cards into the main draw, the release added. FC Goa have confirmed the departure of Spanish winger Manuel Arana to Delhi Dynamos FC on a season-long loan.The Spaniard has three goals and two assists in the current Indian Super League (ISL) campaign, including a strike against Delhi at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.Arana has moved to the Dynamos in a bid to find more game time and add to his tally of goals and assists for the season.In his place, FC Goa have signed Moroccan 22-year-old midfielder Hugo Adnan Boumous.Boumous was born in Rennes, France and made his senior club football debut for Stade Lavallois in France's Ligue 2. He then got transferred to Moroccan club Moghreb Tetouan and played under current FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera.The right-footed midfielder was also called up to the Moroccan National U-23 side in 2016.Hugo has joined the squad and will be available for selection in the next match against Northeast United FC on February 4.
