Former captain Sourav Ganguly today tipped India as the favourites to win the Under-19 World Cup final against Australia on Saturday. India crushed arch-rivals Pakistan by 203 runs yesterday to set up a summit clash against Australia on February 3 at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand. "India (will win U-19 World Cup). U-19 team is playing very well. There are immensely talented boys like Prithwi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Ishan Porel are players who have come up from the BCCI system. Our Board members have invested time to prepare them from the junior, under-19 and senior level," Ganguly said. "You can't make players without structure. They are product of our system. In the next five years, barring Australia and England, Indian cricket will be the best in the world," he told reporters on the sidelines of the release of the 20th edition of Shelly's Cricket Year Book. Mumbai City FC and Jamshedpur FC will lock horns in a crucial Indian Super League (ISL) clash for a "prize worth winning" at the Mumbai Football Arena, on Thursday.Jamshedpur and Mumbai City are placed fifth and sixth, respectively on the points table and are well aware that a victory for either team will boost their chances of qualification and significantly reduce the chances of the other from moving ahead. Ton-up Mominul powers Bangladesh to 374-4 on day one

Mominul Haque hit a towering century to help Bangladesh take opening day honours in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Chittagong on Wednesday. Mominul hit an unbeaten 175 as the hosts reached 374-4 at stumps after electing to bat first at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The left-hander shared a 236-run third-wicket stand with former captain Mushfiqur Rahim, who fell just short of his fifth Test hundred after scoring 92 off 192 balls. Skipper Mahmudullah Riyad, on nine, was batting alongside Mominul when stumps were drawn at the start of the two-match series. Suranga Lakmal struck with the second new ball to claim two wickets off successive deliveries and give Sri Lanka some respite late into the final session. Lakmal, who returned figures of 2-43, forced Mushfiqur to edge behind the stumps after the batsman had struck 10 fours in his relatively sedate innings. The medium-pacer bowled Liton Das for a duck with the next ball, which swung late to uproot the off-stump ...

Expect India to improve on poor ODI record in SA: Du Plessis

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis today acknowledged that it will be tough to beat India in the six-match ODI series starting tomorrow and said the visitors' poor record here in the 50-over format will not be much of a factor. India have only won 5 out of 27 ODIs they have played against South Africa in South Africa, have never won a bilateral series here or indeed beaten South Africa at Durban in ODI cricket. "I think it (the poor record) tells a story. It means that there is something difficult for touring teams to come here and get accustomed to. But as I mentioned before the Test series, I feel like this Indian cricket team has got the names on paper to challenge that and get some victories in South Africa. "They have proved that in the Test series and they are a quality team. So I expect the same (challenge and intensity) in the ODIs coming up," said du Plessis on Wednesday. South Africa won the Test series 2-1, but the Indian bowlers gave a good account of ...
