Senior National Hockey C'ship: SAI taste defeat on Day 1
Central Secretariat defeated Sports Authority of India (SAI) 3-2 in the closely-fought Pool A match in the opening match of the Day One at the 8th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2018 (B Division).It was Central Secretariat, who took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Jayesh Jadhav in the 7th minute and Thimmanna Puliyanda in the 9th minute.SAI found a breakthrough in the 49th minute, thanks to a well-converted penalty corner by BN Sridhar. The following minute saw Dharambir Yadav sore in 50th minute taking Central Secretariat's lead to 3-1. HCA meeting row: Azharuddin slams cricket body
Former Indian captain Mohd Azharuddin lashed out at the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for not allowing him to attend the Special Body Meeting held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.The Special Body Meeting started in the morning, but Azhar was allegedly made to stand outside for more than an hour.However, when Azhar pointed out that he is a former Indian captain and has once represented the association, he was allowed to enter the venue.But soon as the meeting concluded, the right-hand batsman expressed his dissatisfaction over the current state of affairs in HCA.He raised corruption allegations against the HCA members and demanded that the association needs to be dissolved."Players are lamenting that they have to pay lakhs of money to play matches. Sprint legend Usain Bolt said that he hopes to still see his dream of becoming a professional footballer come true when he undergoes a trial at German top- flight club Borussia Dortmund. However, the multiple Olympic and world champion admitted that he would prefer to play for Manchester United, his favourite team. Ailing captain Root bats on in bid to save England
Stricken captain Joe Root returned to batting after a night struggling with a stomach bug to keep England alive on the final day of the fifth Ashes Test against Australia on Monday. Root went to hospital overnight with England Cricket initially saying he had "severe dehydration" after fielding and batting in intense heat on Sunday. But team officials corrected earlier statements and said Root was instead weakened by the effects of a gastro bug. Root came out to bat on the dismissal of Moeen Ali for 13 an hour into the final day's play.
