Lahiri's closing bogey puts him under pressure Byron Nelson

Anirban Lahiri missed a bunch of easy putts on the greens, many of them inside 10 feet, to finish one-under 70 in the first round of the AT&T Byron Nelson, here. Lahiri was two-under after 17 but a bogey on ninth, his closing hole, saw him fall to one-under and Tied-81st, which will once again put him under pressure in the second round to make the cut. Denny McCarthy shot a career-low 8-under 63 with 10 birdies over a 12-hole stretch after an early double bogey to take a one-shot lead over Tyler Duncan and Tom Hoge. Three-time major champion Brooks Koepka, the No. 3-ranked player in the world, was among nine players at 65. Lahiri hit 14 of 18 greens in regulation during his first round and had no less than five birdies, but he also gave away too many, four bogeys, to finish at 70 at the par-71 at the Trinity Forest. He did open well with a nice approach shot to set up a birdie, which he converted. He saved a nice par despite missing the fairway on second but on the third he missed

Jamaica's future bright after Bolt, warns Fraser-Pryce

Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has called on the country's track athletes to step up at next year's Tokyo Olympics -- the first since sprint king Usain Bolt hung up his spikes. The two-time Olympic 100m champ, competing at this weekend's world relays in Yokohama after returning from maternity leave, predicted a bright future for Jamaican sprinting after Bolt bowed out in 2017 with eight Olympic gold medals and 11 world titles. "It's a totally different feeling without Usain," Fraser-Pryce told AFP. "But as anything, with time things change. We have a lot of young athletes here and this is a time for them to create a name for themselves. "I don't think any athlete should try and pressure themselves to fill Usain's shoes," added the 32-year-old. "What he did was remarkable for the sport, so for us it's just a case of trying to do our best." Jamaica's male sprinters struggled at last year's Commonwealth Games, where Yohan Blake trailed in third in the 100 metres and the men's 4x100m ..

Willian desperate for Hazard to stay at Chelsea

Willian says Chelsea have refused to give up hope that talisman Eden Hazard will be at Stamford Bridge next season, with the Belgian apparently edging closer to a move to Real Madrid. Hazard fired the winning spot-kick on Thursday as Chelsea edged out Eintracht Frankfurt 4-3 on penalties to book an all-English Europa League final against Arsenal, in what could prove his last act at Stamford Bridge. The Belgium forward is still expected to join Real in a big-money move this summer, but his Brazilian teammate Willian continues to hope otherwise. Luka Jovic cancelled out Ruben Loftus-Cheek's strike to take the semi-final second leg into extra time before penalties had to separate the sides with the aggregate score level at 2-2 and one away goal apiece. Asked if Hazard's decisive penalty could prove his last kick at Stamford Bridge, Willian replied: "I don't know, I don't think so. "For me I hope he stays, but in football you never know. I think his head is here, to play for Chelsea. Then

Not playing much under the lights is the reason we drop catches, says Veda Krishnamurthy

Indian leg-spinner Veda Krishnamurthy has urged the BCCI to organise more day-night matches for the country's women cricketers as it will not just bring in the crowds but also ensure that players don't drop catches due to unfamiliarity with playing under lights. Krishnamurthy's Velocity lost to Supernovas by 12 runs on Thursday in a women's T20 Challenge match. The 26-year-old tweaker said the women are not particularly familiar with playing under lights and that reflected in their fielding, especially catches. "Not playing under the lights is the reason for dropped catches. While practising at the academy ground we had found it difficult to sight the ball because it was dipping in. So it was really difficult to pick the ball," said Krishnamurthy. "Actually if you look at it, playing under lights is quite challenging because the whole atmosphere changes, the way wind blows with the light and the way ball travels on the field. So, there is a lot difference from a day game," she ...
