Don't get fooled by grass on MCG pitch: Harris

Australia opener Marcus Harris has warned against getting carried away by the grass on the MCG pitch, saying the track does offers runs to those who show patience. Harris cited example of a Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and New South Wales on the same pitch, where he thought the match would be over in "a day and a half" but ended up raising an unbeaten 250. "Pre-match when I saw the wicket I was really freaked out and I thought 'this game's going to be over in a day and a half and we've got blokes trying to vie for Test spots', so I went into the game with no expectations on myself and the wicket actually played pretty well," Harris told ESPNcricinfo. "It was relatively slow and stayed together." "I saw this morning the wicket will probably be more similar to the South Australia game, where it had a bit more green grass on it, nipped around a bit but it was one of those wickets where if you play well you can make runs but if you bowl well you can take wickets." Harris ...

Rawat century puts Delhi in command vs MP

Anuj Rawat hit a brilliant counter-attacking hundred to nullify Avesh Khan's six-wicket haul as Delhi looked set for an outright win against Madhya Pradesh in a Ranji Trophy group league encounter here Sunday. Wicket-keeper batsman Anuj scored 134 off 183 balls as Delhi scored 261 in their first innings in reply to MP's modest 132. A first innings lead of 129 may well ensure full points for the home team. The day belonged to left-handed Anuj, who played by far the most impressive innings of his nascent career so far. The way he attacked under pressure, Rawat felt the pinch having missed out on an IPL contract. "The innings came a few days late," he smiled sheepishly. "I felt bad but IPL snub has taught me that I need to work a lot harder. This is by far my best innings in senior cricket," said the former India U-19 keeper. Delhi were reduced to 36 for 5, courtesy Avesh (6/51), who worked up brisk pace to unsettle the likes of Kunal Chandela (0), Dhruv Shorey (0), Nitish Rana (0) and ..

I will play Boxing Day Test unless if someone cuts my finger off: Finch

Injured Australia opener Aaron Finch says the only way he can miss out on the home Boxing Day Test against India is, if someone were to "cut off" his finger. Finch was batting on 25 in Australia's second innings during the second Test in Perth when he was hit on his right index finger by a Mohammed Shami delivery. The impact of the hit was so serious that bones were literally visible in his finger from a deep cut. Incidentally, it was the same finger which he had broken earlier and the Australian ODI and T20 captain said the impact so severe that he felt "it was going to explode". "It was a bit of a shock, just the initial pain was the thing that got me. It felt like it was going to explode, which was quite funny. I think just being hit a few times in the last month, a couple times by Starcy (Mitchell Starc) at training then Shami out in the game, but it's also an old break. "I broke the same finger in Sri Lanka a couple of years ago, so I've got to start either catching them or use ..

West Indies captain Brathwaite rails at Bangladesh umpires

West Indies Twenty20 skipper Carlos Brathwaite blasted the match umpires for giving "50-50 decisions" to Bangladesh even though his side won the third Twenty20 international to wrap up the series. West Indies, who won Saturday's match by 50 runs, were victims of an erroneous no-ball call that could not be overturned by review and Braithwaite was critical of the umpiring throughout the tour though he insisted he was not alleging "cheating". In the fourth over of the Bangladesh innings, Bangladesh umpire Tanvir Ahmed called a no-ball against West Indies paceman Oshane Thomas when batsman Liton Das spooned a catch to Shimron Hetmyer at mid-off. A television replay showed the delivery had been legal, and Brathwaite and his teammates were furious after seeing the big screen images in the Dhaka stadium. Brathwaite asked for a review and ran to the boundary for talks with match referee Jeff Crowe, halting the game for around 10 minutes. The match officials had to uphold the decision despite .

Need to develop world class drag-flickers: Tirkey

Former captain Dilip Tirkey Sunday said India missed a golden chance to rewrite history in the just-concluded Hockey World Cup and stressed on the need to develop world class drag-flickers.
