Tata Passenger Electric Mobility plans to roll out over 5 EVs in 18 months

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility plans to bring in more than five products in the next 18 months on its first advanced pure electric vehicle architecture 'acti.ev'. The company on Friday said the 'Punch.ev', the electric version of its compact SUV Punch, will be the first product based on its first pure EV architecture, acti.ev. The acti.ev platform will underpin future products from the Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) portfolio and spawn a variety of products with multiple body styles and sizes, the company said in a statement. On a promotional video of the acti.ev platform, the company said it plans "five-plus products in the next 18 months". Pilot unions express concern as Air India 'threats of appropriate measures'

Pilot unions at Air India on Sunday expressed "concern" over the Tata Group-owned airline's alleged threat to the cockpit staff with "appropriate measures" if pilots report sick for duty. In a communication to Air India senior vice president for flight operations Manish Uppal on Sunday, Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) and Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) said that reporting illnesses without the "fear of reprisal" is in the interest of flight safety. IPG is the wide-body aircraft pilots' body at Air India while ICPA represents pilots who fly narrow-body Airbus 320 family aircraft of the full-service carrier. The copies of the letter have also been marked to Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran, DGCA Vikram Dev Dutt, Air India Managing Director and CEO Campbell Wilson, among others. Tata Technologies has come forward to provide job-oriented industrial skill development training for students in Telangana at a proposed cost between Rs 1,500 crore and Rs 2,000 crore, the state government said on Saturday. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who held a meeting with representatives of Tata Technologies here, discussed how to provide modern technology and train the youth to get more employment opportunities, a release from CMO said. The chief minister felt the need for introduction of modern courses in all government ITI (industrial training institute) colleges. Tata Technologies will provide required machinery, equipment and software for the establishment of 4.0 Skilling Centers (Industry 4.0 technology centres) along with maintenance in the state, it said. Tata's TCIL to invest over Rs 1,785 cr in manufacturing unit in Jamshedpur

The Tinplate Company of India Ltd (TCIL), a unit of Tata Steel, on Friday said it will invest Rs 1,787 crore for setting up a 3-lakh-tonnes-per-annum manufacturing facility in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur. The facility, an expansion project, is scheduled for commissioning in 2026, and is likely to generate about 600 direct and indirect employment opportunities, TCIL said. A pact was inked between the company and the Jharkhand government in this regard at a ceremony to mark the completion of four years of the JMM-led government in the state. "... This landmark MoU heralds the establishment of a cutting-edge 300,000 Tons per Annum (TPA) manufacturing facility in Jamshedpur, backed by an investment of approximately Rs 1,787 crore," TCIL said in a statement. The facility will not only enhance Tinplate's manufacturing capabilities with advanced technology and automation, but also contribute significantly to both domestic and export markets, bolstering the state's industrial growth, it said.

Air India borrows $120 million from Japan's SMBC to buy Airbus plane

Japanese lender SMBC on Wednesday said the Tata Group-owned Air India has borrowed USD 120 million from it for purchasing a wide-body aircraft from Airbus. The transaction has partly financed Air India's purchase of an A350-900 aircraft from Airbus, which was delivered in October 2023, according to an official statement. SMBC said this is a secured debt facility through its Singapore branch, while Air India's GIFT City-headquartered arm AI Fleet Services is the borrower. The purchase is part of the mega announcement by the Tatas to buy a total of 470 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, and AI has also contributed equity. According to some reports, an Airbus A350-900 aircraft is priced above USD 300 million. Tata Steel aims to complete expansion of its Kalinganagar project by December next year, a company official said. The company had commenced the second phase of expansion of its Kalinganagar project in Odisha in November 2018 to reach the production capacity of 8 million tonnes per annum, from 3 MTPA, with an investment of Rs 23,500 crore. "We are aiming to complete the project and make it operational by December end next year," Rajiv Kumar, vice-president, Operation, Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK), told PTI in an interaction. Tata Power Solar Systems to supply solar modules worth Rs 418 cr to NTPC

Tata Power Solar Systems has bagged a Rs 418 crore order to supply 152 MWp solar PV modules for an NTPC project at Nokh in Rajasthan. Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd (TPSSL) has signed a contract to supply 152 MWp solar PV modules for NTPC's Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan, the company said in a statement. According to the statement, the project holds a significant order value of about Rs 418 crore. The NTPC is developing 3x245 MW (735 MW) Nokh Solar Park at Pokhran, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The TPSSL's solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Bengaluru will supply 152 MWp DCR Solar PV Modules for this project, the statement added.
