HC extends stay on ASI survey of Gyanvapi mosque premises till Thursday

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday extended the stay on a survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises by the Archaeological Survey of India till Thursday. After hearing a plea by Anjuman Intezamia Masjid, which manages the mosque, against the ASI survey, Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker posted the matter for further hearing on Thursday. The court ordered that the stay on the ASI survey will continue till then. The hearing of the case will resume at 3:30 pm on Thursday. On Wednesday, the matter was heard by the court in the morning session and hearing resumed at 4:30 in the evening. During the hearing in the evening, ASI officials were also called in the court. Arguments in the matter were presented by the mosque management committee and the Hindu side.

Centre will adopt Uttar Pradesh's health fair model: Mansukh Mandaviya

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday said that the Centre will emulate Uttar Pradesh model of health fairs across the country. "A health fair is organised every week at every primary health and wellness centre in the state. Two and a half to three lakh poor people are treated at such fairs. We will implement this model in the whole country," Mandaviya said at a press conference after a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and officials of the state health department. "The UP government has created a digital platform for vaccination which is very good. It has prepared a portal to get information about the utilisation of operation theatres in all hospitals, we will implement that too at the national level," the Union minister said. He said that the UP government is the first among state governments to be using e-rupee in the health sector. SC revives Gyanvapi panel plea disposed of while staying ASI survey

The Supreme Court on Wednesday revived a plea by the Gyanvapi panel that it had inadvertently disposed of on July 24 while staying an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey on the mosque premises to determine if it was built upon a temple. A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra took note of the submissions of senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi, appearing for the Committee of Management Anjuman Intezamia of the Gyanvapi mosque, that instead of its interim plea seeking halting of the ASI work, the main plea was disposed of by the court on the last date of hearing. HC resumes hearing Gyanvapi mosque committee's appeal on ASI survey

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday resumed hearing a plea against a district court order directing the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey to determine if the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi was built upon a temple. After hearing arguments in the matter on Tuesday, Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker had posted it for further hearing on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Anjuman Intezamia Masjid, which manages the mosque, moved the high court, a day after the Supreme Court halted the ASI survey till 5 pm Wednesday, allowing time for the mosque management committee to appeal against the lower court's order. Gyanvapi mosque management moves Allahabad high court over ASI survey

The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday began hearing a plea against a district court order directing the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey to determine if the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi was built upon a temple. The plea is being heard in the court of Prakash Padia. On Monday, the Supreme Court had halted the ASI survey till 5 pm Wednesday, allowing time for the mosque management to appeal against the lower court's order. The mosque is located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple and Hindu litigants in the district court had sought the survey to determine whether a temple existed at the same spot earlier. The Varanasi district court had ordered the ASI Friday to conduct a survey using technologies like ground penetrating radar and excavations, if necessary. The apex court order to pause the survey came while the ASI team was inside the complex.

GMR Power and Urban Infra Limited (GPUIL) on Monday said its arm GMR Smart Electricity Distribution Company has bagged a Rs 7,593-crore smart metering project in Uttar Pradesh. The project has been secured under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) programme of the government of India. "Subsidiary GMR Smart Electricity Distribution Pvt. Ltd has been awarded a prestigious order worth Rs 7,593 crore. ED arrests Samajwadi Party politician in ponzi linked money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate on Monday said it has arrested an Uttar Pradesh-based state secretary of the Samajwadi Party after it raided his premises in Noida as part of a money laundering investigation linked to the 'Bike Bot' alleged Ponzi scam. Dinesh Kumar Singh alias Dinesh Singh Gujjar was arrested on July 21 and a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court sent him to ED custody till July 26, the agency said in a statement. The money laundering case stems from multiple FIRs filed by the Uttar Pradesh Police on the basis of complaints made by certain investors about the 'Bike Bot' fraud allegedly committed by Garvit Innovative Promoters Ltd. (GIPL), its promoter Sanjay Bhati and others. Bhati and others are alleged to have floated lucrative investment scheme in the name of 'BIKE BOT' in 2017, the ED said. SC stays court order of Gyanvapi mosque ASI survey till Wednesday

The Supreme Court on Monday halted a "detailed scientific survey" of the ASI to determine if the Gyanvapi mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi was built upon a temple till 5 pm on July 26 and asked the Allahabad High Court to hear an appeal filed by the mosque committee before the expiry of its order. A Varanasi court directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Friday to conduct the survey -- including excavations, wherever necessary -- to determine if the mosque was built at a place where a temple existed earlier.
