Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday inaugurated an exhibition in Raipur showcasing the valour of the armed forces and said seeing soldiers in uniform was sure to spark feelings of patriotism in all citizens. Lauding the huge turnout for the exhibition being held at Science College ground here, Sai said the Indian Army is renowned globally for its discipline and efficiency and is regarded as one of the strongest militaries in the world. The army plays a pivotal role in not only in defending the country from external threats but also in maintaining internal security and providing vital assistance during natural disasters, he added. Centre approves 800,000 PMAY houses in rural areas of Chhatisgarh

The Centre has sanctioned construction of more than 8 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in rural areas of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said on Wednesday. The CM also informed that his government, which assumed office nine months ago, has requested the Centre to approve houses under PMAY separately for surrendered Naxalites and people affected by Maoist violence in the state. Slamming the previous Congress government in Chhattisgarh (2018-23), he alleged it failed to implement the scheme in the state, as a result 18 lakh families were deprived of pucca (concrete) houses. "The Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress dispensation had been inactive in implementing the housing scheme and therefore 18 lakh families could not get homes under it. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has announced an assistance of Rs 15 crore each to Kerala and Tripura, where heavy rains and landslides have wreaked havoc, a government official here said on Friday. In a post on X, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated that the chief minister has decided to provide Rs 15 crore assistance each from the Disaster Relief Fund to Tripura and Kerala. "In the last few days, we have received sad news about the loss of lives and property on a large scale due to natural calamities in Tripura and Kerala. My sympathies are with the disaster-affected people. The Chhattisgarh government is ready to help both states in this adverse situation," Sai said in the post.

Thirteen remote villages located in the Naxalite-hit Bastar region of Chhattisgarh will witness hoisting of the national flag for the first time on the Independence Day on Thursday, police said. Setting up new camps of security forces in these villages in the last seven months has been paving the way for development of the respective areas, they said. Compressed bio gas plants to be set up in Raipur, Bhilai; BPCL signs deal

An MoU was signed on Wednesday between BPCL, Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority and municipal corporations of Raipur and Bhilai for production of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) in Chhattisgarh, officials said. As per the pact, BPCL- a central PSU, will set up CBG plants in Raipur and Bhilai with an investment of around Rs 100 crore and the capacity of each plant will be 100-150 tonne per day. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy CM Arun Sao here at the former's official residence, they said. In his address, Chief Minister Sai said the establishment of CBG plants is a key step towards clean city, clean energy and zero carbon emissions. About 200-250 metric tonne of municipal solid waste will be used every day in the production of biofuel in the two CBG plants. Chhattisgarh to launch new scheme for farmers, probe agency for Naxal cases

The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday decided to launch a scheme under which an input assistance of Rs 19,257 per acre will be given to paddy farmers. The decision in this regard was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai here at Mantralaya, a government statement said. Fulfilling another guarantee (pre-Assembly poll promise) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet has decided to implement 'Krishak Unnati Yojana' from kharif season 2023-24 in the interest of the farmers of the state, it said. The scheme aimed at increasing income, crop production and productivity of the farmers in the state and reducing the cost of the cultivation, it said. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has said the pension for those who were detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during Emergency between 1975 and 1977 will be restored in the state.
