At least 15 people were killed over the past few days in separate attacks in central Nigeria's Benue State, the scene of regular clashes between Christian farmers and nomadic cattle herders, official sources said today. At least seven people were killed as an arms depot exploded in the Sadr City district of the Iraqi capital today, security and medical sources said. "An arms depot exploded... The security forces have opened an inquiry to determine the cause," Baghdad's security operations command said in a statement. Seven people were killed and 22 injured in the blast, a senior police source told AFP on condition of anonymity. It was heavy weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades and shells, belonging to an armed group and stored in a house, he said. A Palestinian who threw a rock at Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank was shot dead by a soldier today, the Israeli army said. It said the troops were on a search and arrest operation in the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah, when they were confronted by at least 10 stone-throwing Palestinians who hit one soldier in the head. The soldier struck by the rock then fired at the Palestinian who threw it, who was given medical treatment but later died, the military said in a statement. An activist group named him as Ezzedine al-Tamimi, from Nabi Saleh, citing witnesses saying he was more than 40 metres from the soldiers when shot. Three men, allegedly involved in a dacoity committed at a businessman's house in Haryana's Panipat, were arrested in Dwarka area here, police said today. The accused identified as Randeep Rathi (21), Sumit Rathi (24) and Mohit Malik (19) possessed a huge amount of looted gold and silver ornaments. Five Kenyan paramilitary police were killed today when their vehicle struck a homemade landmine in Liboi, close to the eastern border with Somalia, a government official said. "It was an IED [improvised explosive device] attack and we have lost five police officers," said Harun Kamau, deputy county commissioner in Dadaab, adding three others were injured. The use of improvised explosive devices against police and military patrols in the border region is relatively common. Over the past year, Shabaab insurgents, based in Somalia, have claimed several such attacks killing dozens of Kenyan police and soldiers. Kamau said the officers from the General Service Unit were travelling in a police truck which was destroyed by the explosion.

Israeli troops shot dead a 21 year-old Palestinian stone-thrower during an arrest raid in the West Bank Wednesday after a soldier was hit in the head with a rock, the Israeli military and Palestinian Health Ministry said. The Health Ministry says Izzideen Tamimi was shot dead during clashes with Israeli forces in the village of Nabi Saleh, near Ramallah. Bassem Tamimi, the casualty's uncle, said forces entered the village and were attacked by stone throwers, to which the troops responded with live rounds, rubber bullets and tear gas. The Israeli military said its forces were attacked by a dozen Palestinians throwing rocks.
