IS claims responsibility for Kabul suicide attack
The dreaded terrorist group, Islamic State (IS), has confirmed that it had carried out the suicide attack that struck the Afghan capital on Monday morning.This was confirmed in a statement issued by the group's Amaq news agency, The Guardian reported.Local authorities have also confirmed that six people were killed in the blast that took place near the National Directorate of Security (NDS), an Afghan intelligence agency, located in Shash Darak area of Kabul.In recent times, IS has claimed responsibility for various attacks in Afghanistan, since their establishment in the country in 2015.
Jadhav's family reaches Islamabad to meet him: media
Indian death row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav's wife and mother today arrived here for a meeting with him at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, officials said. TV footage showed a convoy of around seven vehicles escorting Jadhav's family in the city. A Foreign Office spokesperson said Jadhav's family first went to the Indian High Commission. After spending some time there, the family will leave for Ministry of Foreign Affairs to meet Jadhav. The Foreign Office said the meeting will last for about 30 minutes. The two women arrived in the capital via Dubai in a commercial flight and are expected to leave soon after the meeting where they will be accompanied by Indian Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh. Jadhav's mother, wife reach Islamabad
The mother and the wife of former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav have reached the Pakistani capital, in order to meet him later in the day.They arrived in an unnamed commercial flight and are scheduled to leave later in the evening.The meeting will last between 15 minutes to an hour, and the two women will be allowed to speak to media if they wish to, the Dawn said, citing diplomatic sources.Pakistan had agreed earlier to facilitate the visit of Jadhav's kin and also assured their safety, security, and freedom of movement in the nation.Subsequently, on December 20, Pakistan issued visas to Jadhav's mother and wife to meet him on humanitarian grounds.Pakistan has repeatedly rejected India's plea for consular access to Jadhav at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), alleging he was not an ordinary person and had entered the country with an intent of spying and carrying out sabotage activities.On December 13, Pakistan submitted its reply to the International Court of Justice .

Pak tightens security ahead of Jadhav's meeting with family
Pakistani authorities said today they have deployed sharpshooters at the foreign ministry's office where Indian death row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav will meet his wife and mother. Jadhav, 47, would be meeting his family today at the foreign office in Islamabad. The exact time of the meeting is not immediately known but officials said it would be around midday or early afternoon. The duration has also not been confirmed but it may last for an hour, according to sources in the Foreign Office. Jadhav's family is flying to Islamabad via the UAE. Strict security measures have been taken on the occasion of Jadhav meeting his family at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), officials said. Six dead in suicide attack near Afghan spy agency: officials
A suicide attacker on foot blew himself up near a compound belonging to the Afghan intelligence agency in Kabul today, killing six civilians, officials said. The attacker struck at a time when workers were arriving at their offices. It comes a week after militants stormed a National Directorate of Security (NDS) training centre in the Afghan capital. Interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish told AFP six civilians in a car were killed when the attacker detonated himself. "Six people were martyred and three others were wounded," Danish said. "They were hit when they were passing the area in their Toyota sedan vehicle. We still do not know the target of the attack but it happened on the main road." The health ministry confirmed the death toll but put the number of wounded at one. At least three people were killed in a suicide attack after a suicide bomber blew himself up in a prominent area in the Afghan capital today, Tolo News agency reported.The incident occurred in the early morning hours after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives close to the National Directorate of Security (NDS), located in Shash Darak area of Kabul.Also, one person has been wounded in the attack.An Interior Ministry's spokesman for the Afghan government, Nusrat Rahim, confirmed the attack and said he was yet to receive the reports about casualties.Security forces have arrived and cordoned off the area from the public.As of now, no terrorist group or the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A senior Maoist leader, who was carrying a bounty of Rs 25 lakh, has surrendered before the Telangana Police, a police official said.The Telangana Police said J Narasimha Reddy aka Jampanna, a Central Committee member of the CPI (Maoist), surrendered with his wife H Rajitha, a member of a district committee of the Maoists, on Saturday.Jampanna, who hails from Mahabubabad district of Telangana, joined the Maoist organisation Peoples War Group in 1984. He played a key role in spreading the Maoist influence in Kandhamal area of Odisha, and was involved in several incidents of attack on security forces and police as well.
12 Delhi cops sent to police lines for negligence during night
Twelve police personnel in south district were sent to district lines after they were found negligent in duty during a general night 'gasht' by the Delhi Police commissioner, officials said today. The entire Delhi Police force, including commissioner Amulya Patnaik, were on night patrol last night, they said. In south Delhi, negligence was seen in patrolling after which 12 police personnel attached with different stations were sent to district lines. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya said that last night during general gasht some deficiency was found in motorcycle patrolling on some corridors and roads. "The responsible police personnel, who were designated for patrolling on those corridors, have been asked to explain the lapses and have been sending to district lines by me," said the DCP. He added that the personnel concerned were from the police stations of Saket, Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Greater Kailash and Ambedkar Nagar.
Tight security for PM's Noida visit
Tight security is in place for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit here tomorrow to inaugurate Delhi Metro's Magenta Line. The 12.64-km section connects Botanical Garden in Noida to Kalkaji Mandir in south Delhi. Modi will also address a public meeting in Noida. The elite Special Protection Group, which provides security to the prime minister, has taken control of the premises. Provincial Armed Constabulary and paramilitary forces are part of the security at the venue. The area has been divided into 15 zones and an officer for each has been appointed. Gunmen open fire on cafe in Cairo, kill two
At least two people were killed and eight injured after unknown assailants opened fire on a cafe in Cairo, on Sunday.The Anadolu Agency quoted Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Mujahed, as saying, that the shooting took place in the al-Amirya village, west of Cairo.According to a security source, two masked gunmen, involved in the incident, were on a motorbike when opened fire on cafe-goers in the village and fled.The injured were rushed to the hospital for medical assistance.No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.The Egyptian Police have launched a search operation to nab the culprits and are further investigating the matter.
Women among 6 injured in clash over land dispute in UP
At least six people, including women, were injured at a village here in a clash that broke out between two groups allegedly over a property dispute, police said today. The incident occurred at Antwada village, under Khatoli police station limits, last evening, officials said. According to Station House Officer (SHO), Khatoli police station, A P Bhardwaj, last evening Mahipal and Sureshpal confronted each other over a land dispute. They were soon joined by others and a violent clash broke out with batons and stones being freely used, the SHO said. On being alerted, the police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, he said. The injured people including Sureshpal, Bantu Devi, Mahipal, Sahender, Virender and Virender Singh, were shifted to a hospital. Bhardwaj said security has been stepped up in the village as a precautionary measure in view of the clash.
