Total 190 paramilitary personnel, including 99 of the CRPF, have been killed in action during the last three years, the government informed Parliament today. Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, presented data about the total number of security personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Assam Rifles being killed while performing their duties during the last three years. According to the data, a total of 190 personnel were killed that included 99 from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 45 from the Border Security Force (BSF), 41 from the Assam Rifles, four of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and one from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force. Rijiju said these forces "have reported a total of 20 cases where compassionate appointments (of government job) were given during the period (last three years)". A roadside bomb today went off near a military vehicle in northwest Pakistan's volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province injuring at least four persons, including three security personnel. The incident occurred in Dera Ismail Khan district bordering South Waziristan agency. The bomb was planted on the roadside and went off when a military vehicle was passing. Three security personnel were injured, a security official said, adding that the vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast. At least three security men and one another person were injured when a roadside bomb went off near a military vehicle on the Kulachi Road, officials said. The injured personnel were immediately provided with medical assistance. A search operation was launched in the surrounding areas following the incident. Two militants and a woman were killed and nine civilians injured on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district during a gunfight between militants and security forces.

Two motorcycle borne men today looted Rs 2 lakh from a farmer near Mora talab under Bhagan Bigaha police station of Bihar's Nalanda district, police said. A 50-year-old man was allegedly robbed and strangulated to death here in the Shamli district, police said today. According to police, the alleged robber also died in an accident while on his way back from the crime scene.
