190 CAPF, Assam Rifles personnel killed in last 3 years: Govt
Total 190 paramilitary personnel, including 99 of the CRPF, have been killed in action during the last three years, the government informed Parliament today. Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, presented data about the total number of security personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Assam Rifles being killed while performing their duties during the last three years. According to the data, a total of 190 personnel were killed that included 99 from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 45 from the Border Security Force (BSF), 41 from the Assam Rifles, four of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and one from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force. Rijiju said these forces "have reported a total of 20 cases where compassionate appointments (of government job) were given during the period (last three years)". Three security personnel injured in blast in NW Pakistan
A roadside bomb today went off near a military vehicle in northwest Pakistan's volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province injuring at least four persons, including three security personnel. The incident occurred in Dera Ismail Khan district bordering South Waziristan agency. The bomb was planted on the roadside and went off when a military vehicle was passing. Three security personnel were injured, a security official said, adding that the vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast. At least three security men and one another person were injured when a roadside bomb went off near a military vehicle on the Kulachi Road, officials said. The injured personnel were immediately provided with medical assistance. A search operation was launched in the surrounding areas following the incident. Last month, two soldiers of paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) were killed and four sustained serious injuries when their vehicle hit a landmine in District Sibi of restive Balochistan.

Two militants and a woman were killed and nine civilians injured on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district during a gunfight between militants and security forces.

Two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were neutralised in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday in a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army, police and CRPF, said the Inspector General of Police, Muneer Khan.Speaking to ANI, the Kashmir IG said that two jawans also got injured during the course of the operation."The militants firing continued till morning which was replied by the forces. Bahrain condemns terror attack on Quetta church
Bahrain's Foreign Ministry has condemned Sunday's terror strike on a church in Quetta, Pakistan.It may be recalled that two suicide bombers attacked the church where around 400 worshippers were attending a service ahead of Christmas. At least nine people were killed and dozens of others were injured in the incident.The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) quoted a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, as saying that Bahrain supports Pakistan's fight against terrorism and its efforts to establish security and stability.The ministry statement further reiterated Bahrain's absolute rejection of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism, and stressed the need for concerted efforts to end this phenomenon and establish peace in the whole world."The Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished of speedy recovery to the injured," the statement added.

Two terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces on Tuesday morning in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district."Bodies of two terrorists have been recovered, but the third one is still alive and is present in a house. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a church during a mass in Pakistan's restive southwestern city of Quetta which killed nine people and injured 44 others. "The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack on a Methodist church in Quetta, Pakistan," a UN statement attributable to his spokesperson said. Egypt's military prosecutors have released more than 200 football fans who had spent over five months in detention accused of vandalising a stadium and attacking police, a lawyer said. Rs 2 lakh looted from farmer
Two motorcycle borne men today looted Rs 2 lakh from a farmer near Mora talab under Bhagan Bigaha police station of Bihar's Nalanda district, police said. The farmer was returning after withdrawing Rs 2 lakh from a nationalised bank when the two men came in a motorbike and snatched the bag containing the money and sped away. Two suspects were found in CCTV footages of the bank and the police were trying to arrest them, the police said.

Five militants who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group have been killed in Russia's volatile Northern Caucasus region, the national anti-terrorism committee said today. 50-year-old strangulated to death in UP
A 50-year-old man was allegedly robbed and strangulated to death here in the Shamli district, police said today. According to police, the alleged robber also died in an accident while on his way back from the crime scene. The incident took place yesterday when the robber entered the house of Om Prakash, an employee in a Sugar mill here, and looted his belongings after killing him, police said. Police said they received an information that a person, identified as Johnny, who had met with a fatal accident, was found with the looted goods. Maoists set 10 vehicles on fire at road construction site
Armed ultras stormed a road construction site and set ablaze around 10 vehicles and machines in Odisha's Malkangiri district, police said today. The incident happened yesterday night at Andrahal near Bondaghati under the jurisdiction of Mudulipada police station, they said. The Maoists ransacked the construction camp, and set afire earth movers, tractors, vans, a roller and a mixer machine, a police officer said. Myanmar's army burned down dozens of Rohingya homes within days of signing a refugee repatriation deal with Bangladesh, showing the agreement was a mere "public relations stunt", Human Rights Watch said today.
