YSRCP to support Modi govt in Parliament, vote against no-trust motion

The YSR Congress Party has decided to support the Narendra Modi government in Parliament and vote against the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition bloc INDIA. The 26-party Opposition alliance has moved a notice of no-confidence in Lok Sabha demanding the prime minister speak on the Manipur situation inside the House. While the notice has been admitted, no decision on a date has yet been taken. "How does bringing a no-confidence motion help the country? Trying to weaken the Central government at this time of disturbance in Manipur and two hostile neighbours is not in the national interest," YSRCP Parliamentary Party leader Vijayasai Reddy said. "It is the time to work together not against each other. The YSRC Party shall support the government and vote against the motion," he said. Ex-minister murder case: YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy arrested by CBI, released

: YSR Congress MP Y S Avinash Reddy was arrested by the CBI in connection with the murder of his uncle and former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy, but he was immediately released as per a Telangana High Court order that had earlier granted him anticipatory bail. Avinash Reddy, who appeared before the central agency on June 3, was arrested by the CBI and released on bail the same day after fulfilling certain formalities, sources said. The Lok Sabha member from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, who was granted anticipatory bail by the Telangana High Court on May 31, was directed to cooperate with the investigation and to appear before the CBI every Saturday till the end of June 2023 in connection with the case. The high court in its order had said that the petitioner shall be released on bail in the event of his arrest by the CBI on execution of a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh, with two sureties for a like sum each, to the satisfaction of the CBI. EC asks YSRCP to clarfiy Jagan Reddy's 'permanent president' role

Against the backdrop of media reports that Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has been appointed the permanent president of YSRCP, the Election Commission on Wednesday directed the party to make a "clear and categorical public announcement" contradicting the reports as the matter has the potential to create "confusion" in other political organisations. The EC order came after the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) initially informed the poll panel about the "unanimous" election of Jagan Mohan Reddy as president of the party on July 8 and 9 this year, but did not categorically admit or deny the specific allegation forwarded by EC regarding he being made permanent president for life. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party will support the NDA's nominee Jagdeep Dhankhar in the vice presidential poll, a party leader said Sunday. Vijaysai Reddy, the YSRCP floor leader in Rajya Sabha, said the party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to support Dhankhar. "Jagan Mohan garu has decided to support NDA's vice president candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar as he is a farmer's son and hails from a backward community," Reddy told PTI. Dhankhar is a Jat by caste who are categorised among OBCs in Rajasthan, his home state. The NDA's Dhankhar is up against the joint Opposition candidate Margaret Alva, a former union minister, in the August 6 poll.
