I am confident that BJP will win over 350 seats, says Pankaj Singh

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 23 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's son Pankaj Singh on Thursday said the BJP will win 350 seats in the House because of the works that the Prime Minister-led NDA government has done in the last five years. "I can say with much confidence that the BJP will get more than 350 seats because of the works that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government have done in the last 5 years," Singh told ANI. Pankaj, who was Rajnath Singh's Lucknow poll manager, also expressed confidence over Union Minister Rajnath Singh winning Lucknow seat. "Though I cannot predict the margin of votes as of now, I am very confident that the margin (winning) is going to increase this time," he said. People laughing at Opposition over EVM allegations: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): Union Minister of Science and Technology Harsh Vardhan on Thursday took a jibe at the opposition parties over their allegations on discrepancies in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), saying people having less knowledge of technology were laughing at them. He also said that the country wanted to see Narendra Modi as the prime minister again. "People are laughing at them (opposition parties). Even those who have less knowledge of technology are also laughing. All these people, especially the poor, want to see Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister again," he told ANI. Harsh Vardhan is the sitting MP from the high-prestige Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency. Recently 22 political parties moved the Election Commission of India demanding counting of VVPAT slips before the counting of EVMs. The polling body, however, rejected the opposition parties' demand on the basis of the impracticability of its implementation and cited the Supreme Court's order on the subject.

Rahul Gandhi will be next PM, says Maken, Meenakashi Lekhi calls opposition nervous

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): Congress party candidate from New Delhi parliamentary constituency, Ajay Maken asserted that Rahul Gandhi will be the next prime minister of the country. Speaking to ANI, he said, "The results will be definitely in favour of Congress. We are expecting that Congress will win and form the government. Rahul Gandhi will be the next PM. Jammu and Kashmir police busts terrorist hideout in Rajouri, recovers huge cache of weapons

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), May 23 (ANI): In a major counter insurgency operation, Jammu and Kashmir (JandK) Police on Wednesday busted a hideout of terrorists in Chatyari forest area of Rajouri district and recovered a stockpile of weapons. The seized ammunition included four automatic assault rifles, four AK rifles, 11 pistols and sets of magazines. Calling it a huge achievement for the security agencies, Rajouri SSP Yougal Manhas said that the removing such a stockpile of weapons from circulation would help the forces in limiting future attacks.

Trauma in childhood may lead to adolescent depression, suggests study

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): Children in poor urban areas who suffered physical and emotional neglect, violence, and sexual abuse are likely to be associated with both adolescent depression and violent behaviour, highlights a new study. The study was published in the Journal of Adolescent Health. The study incorporated ACEs suffered by 1,284 adolescents aged 10 to 14 in 14 "low-income urban settings" around the world. It found remarkably common experiences with trauma--and very similar impacts--regardless of where the children lived. The study found that 46% of young adolescents reported experiencing violence, 38% suffered emotional neglect and 29% experienced physical neglect.

CRPF jawan deployed at EVM strong room in Kondagaon dies of heart attack

Kondagaon (Chhattisgarh), May 23 (ANI): A CRPF jawan, who was deployed at an EVM strong room in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon, died of a heart attack. Kushwaha to be held responsible if violence breaks out in his name: Bihar ADG

Patna (Bihar), May 23 (ANI): A day after Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha warned of bloodshed if EVMs were found to be manipulated, Bihar's Additional General of Police (ADG) Kundan Krishnan informed that even as the Election Commission has taken cognizance of the matter, if there would be any violence reported due to Kushwaha's statement, then he would be held responsible for the same. Speaking on the incident where an independent LS candidate from Buxar brandished a gun during a press conference, Krishnan said orders has been given to investigate whether the gun was licensed, and if found to be otherwise then appropriate action will be taken which includes the holder's arrest. Tripura Health Minister catches govt doctor conducting illegal abortion

Agartala (Tripura), May 23 (ANI): Tripura Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman on Wednesday caught a government doctor red-handed conducting illegal abortion at the labour room of a state-run health centre in Santribazar town. An FIR has been registered against the doctor identified as Dr. Ajay Biswas. Speaking on the matter, Barman told ANI, "Yesterday, I received information that abortions are done in the hospital in lieu of money. So other officers and me rushed there today and caught the doctor red-handed. It is a violation of medical termination of pregnancy protocol and a serious offense."

YouTube to change how subscriber count is shown

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): YouTube announced that it is introducing a major change to how it publicly shows the subscriber count on channels. Starting August 2019, YouTube will start showing the abbreviated subscriber number across all desktop and mobile apps for channels with more than 1,000 subscribers. Those with fewer subscribers will be shown non-abbreviated count; for instance, the abbreviated count will be shown as 133k and in some places, it will display the full count, e.g., 133,017. Third-parties using YouTube API services will also access the same public-facing counts you see on YouTube. Meanwhile, creators will be able to see the exact number in YouTube Studio.
