Pune (Maharashtra) May 09 (ANI): At least five people died and several others got injured after a massive fire broke out in a cloth godown in Maharashtra's Pune in the early hours today. 4 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): Wearables such as smart watches and fitness trackers are meant to tell you how much calories you burnt, notifications from your apps, along with showing you the time. But did you know, the wearable's can also tell if you were washing your hands or typing? Researchers at the Carnegie Mellon University discovered that existing accelerometer in an LG smart watch can also measure what your hands are doing while you are wearing it, Fast Company reported. Using machine learning, the researchers were able to devise an algorithm that can correctly tell the differences between common hand movements such as washing hands, scrolling on your phone, using a remote, typing, and so on. The discovery opens up new high-fidelity activity recognition. For instance, by identifying extensive typing, it can recommend taking a break. >

Besides the obvious health issues, in face of toxic air releasing from the burning coal fields, faced by the locals, unemployment is another issue that has been troubling the youth of Jharia, many of those are now shifted in the nearby Belgadia. Vasant, one of the locals complained of lack of employment opportunities in Belgadia and said they have to go back to Jharia to seek work. "There are no employment opportunities here we have to go to Jharia to earn. No politician has ever come here except to ask for votes," Vasant told ANI. Nagaon (Assam), May 09 (ANI): A cheetah helicopter of the Indian Army on Tuesday made an emergency landing in an open field in Assam's Nagaon due to a technical glitch. The chopper was flying from Missamari to Dimapur, and all the three crew members are unharmed. Cheetah helicopters are a high performance choppers designed for operation over a very wide range of weight, centre of gravity and altitude conditions.

Officials are constantly tracking offenders using CCTV cameras. On spot challans and notices have been issued to people urinating, littering and spitting in public. Alwar (Rajasthan), May 09 (ANI): The Rajasthan Police has till now arrested three of the five persons accused in the horrific rape case that took place in Alwar on April 26. "Three people have been arrested. 14 teams are working on the case. The woman has registered her statement," said Jagmohan Sharma, DSP, Alwar. The arrested identified as Ashok Gujjar, Mukesh Gujjar and Inderaj Gujjar, with two others still to be nabbed, are accused of raping a Dalit woman in front of her husband and then uploading the video of the ordeal on social media. >
New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): People with lower incomes may be more likely to have obesity as a result of psychological distress that gives rise to emotional eating, recent findings suggest. As part of the latest study, as team of researchers explored whether the relationship between lower socioeconomic status (SES) and obesity is explained by psychological distress and subsequent emotional eating as a coping strategy. 150 participants from North West England from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds completed questionnaires measuring psychological distress, emotional eating and resilience. They reported their income and education level as an indicator of socioeconomic status and their height and weight in order to calculate body mass index (BMI). The findings were published in the Journal of Obesity. Mumbai, May 08 (ANI): Mumbai police has arrested a doctor for allegedly raping a 21-year-old model. The accused doctor lives in Chembur area of Mumbai and works in a pharmaceutical company. Senior Police Inspector at Versova Police Station, Ravindra Badgujar said, "The accused and the victim had come into contact while she was working in a TV serial. They also lived together after knowing each other. We have registered a case on the complaint of the victim and investigation is underway." Police registered an FIR under IPC sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman's consent), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation). >
