2 civilians injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in J and K's Nowshera

Nowshera (Jammu and Kashmir), Apr 06 (ANI): Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the line of control (LoC) in Kalal area of Jammu and Kashmir. Two civilian were injured in firing. Both of them are under treatment in sub-district hospital. Their condition is stable.

Male hippopotamus dies after getting attacked by female hippo in Gujarat

Vadodara (Gujarat), Apr 06 (ANI): A male hippopotamus died after getting into a fight with his female counterpart in Sayaji Baug Zoo of Gujarat's Vadodara. He sustained spinal injury due to which he could not survive. Female hippopotamus hasn't sustained any serious injuries. The baby hippo is also safe. Speaking to ANI, zoo curator Pratyush Patankar said, "No major injury is found on the body of female hippo. Female and baby hippo, both of them are safe."

Meet 84-year-old Babu Subudhi who is all set to fight elections again after 32 losses

Berhampur (Odisha), Apr 06 (ANI): Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, all the candidates have geared up to fight against each other and middle of this, there is a man who is fighting Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Assembly elections since 1962. His name is Dr Shyam Babu Subudhi and he is 84-year-old. Ever since 1962, he stood for elections around 32 times and faced loss each time but this didn't affect him and he is again geared up for upcoming elections. Shyam Babu Subudhi said, "I fought around 20 times parliamentary elections, Hinjili Assembly for 5 times. I have to fight against this corruption. Power is a different thing." His election symbol is a bat and has 'prime minister candidate' written on it.

Kochi (Kerala), Apr 06 (ANI): Costa Cruise ship is docked at Kerala's Cochin port and it has luxurious facilities to fulfill all the requirements of the tourists. Bringing cruise line in India will help to expand tourism in the country. While speaking to ANI, Managing Director of Lotus Destination Nalini Udai Gupta spoke about her vision behind bringing the cruise line in India. She said, "Cruise line is coming to Indian ports and especially to Cochin which has the port infrastructure which allows the big ships to come in. I think Keralites are actually, natural cruisers. They are living all over the world so even in Maldives we had a very good response. Costa brings ships to Indian ports, it shows their commitment and from my side, I always tell the headquarters that they look at India and do what they can do because people will travel so you don't have to worry about people travelling or no. So, bringing ships is our first step to towards increasing tourism and increasing cruising."

Poor diet causes more deaths than tobacco consumption: Study

New Delhi, Apr 06 (ANI): A new study has revealed that poor diet is responsible for more number of deaths globally than tobacco consumption, high blood pressure or other health issues. Diet that includes less whole grains, while too many unhealthy elements, accounted for every fifth death globally. The study was published in the journal 'Lancet'. "Poor diet is an equal opportunity killer. We are what we eat and risks affect people across a range of demographics, including age, gender, and economic status," said Dr. Ashkan Afshin, lead author. The study brought out that poor diets resulted in 10.9 million deaths which are 22 per cent of all deaths among adults in 2017. The leading cause was cardiovascular disease followed by cancers and diabetes. However, tobacco resulted in an estimated 8 million deaths. The study indicated that three dietary factors-low intake of whole grains, fruits and high sodium intake resulted in 50 per cent of diet-related deaths. The other 50 per cent were due

LS polls: Raipur Railway Station installs mock polling booth to create awareness among voters

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Apr 06 (ANI): Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Raipur Railway Station came up with unique idea to create awareness about upcoming elections. Mock polling booth with Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) were installed to create awareness among voters. In Chhattisgarh, the elections will happen in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23. The votes will be counted on May 23 and the results will be declared on the same day.

Delhi: 8th class student dies after fainting at school

New Delhi, Apr 05 (ANI): An eighth grade student was declared dead in hospital after he fainted in the bathroom of his school in Rohini area of Delhi. The reason of his death is not clear yet, and the deceased child's father is in shock after hearing the news of his son's demise. "I was told by school authorities that my son fainted in the bathroom, and has been admitted to hospital. I thought since it is summer, it's not unusual. But I was told in hospital that my son has died," the deceased child's father told ANI.

Leopard beaten to death by locals in UP's Bahraich

Bahraich (UP), Apr 05 (ANI): A leopard was on Friday killed by irate locals after it attacked and injured at least six persons in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. According to locals, the leopard had attacked several people since February 28 and three villagers had succumbed to their injuries. After receiving the information, the officials of the forest department reached the spot. However, the leopard later succumbed to injuries.

Congress delegation reaches EC over several 'issues'

New Delhi, Apr 05 (ANI): A delegation of Congress party on Friday reached Election Commission Office in the national capital. The delegation comprised Congress leaders like Randeep Singh Surjewala, Ahmed Patel, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Jairam Ramesh. The delegation highlighted five issues in front of the election commission. First issue which the delegation raised was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in Wardha, which according to Congress was full of grudge and religious issues. Second issue was over 1.80 crore money seized in Arunachal Pradesh, third issue was BJP president Amit Shah's undisclosed property, fourth was Maharashtra tribal people who are not able to vote and fifth issue was stopping the transfer of joint commissioner of police Devendra Bharti. The election commission assured the Congress delegation for appropriate action.
