Poonch (J-K), Apr 05 (ANI): One civilian was injured in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district after Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by targeting areas along Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday evening. Medical Superintendent of Poonch district hospital, Dr Shameem Bhati said, "Due to the heavy shelling that began in the evening, one injured civilian has been brought to the hospital. The 55-year-old has received injuries in the abdomen. He is undergoing treatment and if required we will refer him to Jammu."
Jamui (Bihar), Apr 05 (ANI): Residents of Dabil village in Khaira tehsil of Jamui Lok Sabha constituency will boycott the upcoming elections. They said that until and unless the road connecting their village is made they will not cast their vote. According to a local, "Things become worse during monsoon. We feel cheated". "We were hopeful in 2009. Bhudeo Choudhary became the MP and we had hoped he would do something about the development here. But he couldn't do anything. Then Modi ji came in 2014, Chirag Paswan became MP. We became even more hopeful. But it was a waste", said another local.
Mumbai, Apr 05 (ANI): Senior Police Inspector Parmeshwar B. Ganame of DN Nagar Police Station got captured in a video while thrashing hawkers in Mumbai's Juhu. He and his team thrashed 'illegal' hawkers. In 2016, a major fire at Wafa Medicals and fire brigade couldn't reach the spot because of illegal hawkers narrowing the route, causing 9 deaths. Parmeshwar said, "So BMC and police conduct regular drive in the area but hawkers occupy it again and again. Police and BMC went there with staff when 4 people surrounded an inspector and thrashed him. They attacked us after which we took action."
Chennai, Apr 05 (ANI): Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Election Commission of India addressed mediapersons in Chennai. Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa told about the demands that political parties raised. Lavasa said, "During our meetings with political parties, they brought out certain issues. All the political parties demanded to effectively check distribution of money and freebies to voters and urged a commission to take a criminal action against those who are involved. Some of the parties requested the commission to issue directions to avoid harassment of common people during the function of flying squads." The Lok Sabha election is scheduled to be held in seven phases beginning from April 11 and concluding on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
New Delhi, Apr 05 (ANI): In new research, scientists have come up with a new formula that predicts tumour growth rate more accurately, a crucial statistic used to schedule screenings and set dosing regimens in cancer treatment. The research, published in the AAPS Journal, was led by Dhaval Shah, PhD, associate professor in the UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The mathematical method successfully estimated the doubling time, the amount of time for a tumour to double in size, for 12 types of cancer, ranging from breast and prostate cancers to melanoma."This novel method allows clinicians and drug development scientists to use routinely-generated clinical data to infer doubling times of solid tumours. This parameter can be used to design individualised dosing regimens and develop reliable models for anticancer therapeutics," said Shah. Farrukhabad (UP), Apr 05 (ANI): An 8-year-old girl fell into 60-feet deep borewell while playing outside her house. The incident happened in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad which stirred the people and they immediately called the police. Soon, district administration and police reached at the incident site and started rescue operation to bring the kid outside safely. Rescue operation is underway by National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force and paramilitary forces.
Hinjili (Odisha), Apr 05 (ANI): As many as 2,000-2,500 houses out of around 3,500 have locks on gates in Saru, a small village which comes under Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Assembly constituency Hinjili, as most of the people here are forced to migrate to cities like Mumbai and Surat in search of work. "Most of the people have gone to different cities, especially Mumbai and Surat, for work. Usually, most of these people don't even come back to cast vote in election. Mumbai, Apr 05 (ANI): Massive fire broke out at a chawl at Pednekar Wadi on Gupte Road in Mumbai's Mahim West on Thursday. Fire brigades reached at the incident site and started fire fighting operations, which is still underway. No injuries have reported till now.

Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 04 (ANI): A woman police constable was allegedly attacked with acid in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura today. Speaking to ANI, SP (Crime) of Mathura, Ashok Kumar Meena said, "At about 4:30 am today, few unidentified car-borne assailants threw acid on a woman constable while she was on her way to work; she has received 40 per cent burns and has been admitted to hospital. Efforts are on to nab assailants; reason behind incident is some old dispute." Further police investigation is underway in this incident.
New Delhi, Apr 04 (ANI): Considering Indonesia and Bangladesh government's decision to ban TikTok and USA's 'Children Online Privacy Act' to prevent children from becoming cyber victims, the Madras High Court today issued an interim direction to the Centre, to prohibit downloading of the application, saying it was "encouraging pornography". The order also directs the media from telecasting videos made using the app. Reacting on it, Hailing Madras High Court's decision, cyber expert Anuj Agarwal shared his views and said that TikTok and other social media platforms are good platforms to socialize but lot of people are misusing it to upload pornography materials and to spread fake news to create disturbance in the society. "The Centre has to follow it, there is no way they can avoid it, Centre should be doing it proactively" said Agarwal. TikTok mobile application allows users to create and share short videos with special effects. TikTok is a China-made app with million users in India.
