Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 17 (ANI): Former CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana joined Jana Sena party (JSP) today in Vijayawada. The development came a day after Lakshminarayana met party chief Pawan Kalyan at the JSP office on Saturday. During the meeting, the former CBI official held discussions with him on various issues. Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will go to polls on April 11, while counting of votes will take place on May 23.
Hyderabad, Mar 17 (ANI): Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan flagged off the annual 'She' team run at People's Plaza from Hyderabad today. More than 8,500 participants took part in 10 km, 5km and 2km run. Ayodhya (UP), Mar 17 (ANI): Devotees celebrated 'Rang Bhari Ekadashi' ahead of Holi in Ayodhya on Sunday. The festival was celebrated at Hanuman Garhi Temple by people dancing and splashing colors at each other. Ganesh Das, a saint, said, "This is a very old tradition, which was followed by our forefathers and we celebrate this day in the name of God Hanuman."
Panaji (Goa), Mar 17 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's health issue, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) core committee leader Dayanand Mandrekar said, "Had Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar been fit, there wouldn't have been a need to change the leader but his health is very critical now, deteriorating day after day. Party should take some decision. From centre to Goa, some decision should be taken. I think it will be done."

At that time, the posters used to have his face in large size, and that of former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh and others used to be smaller." "By the time the elections came and Congress president Rahul ji attacked them over Rafale deal, Raman Singh's face was made larger and BJP President Amit Shah-Narendra Modi's faces were made smaller. People in Chhattisgarh have already rejected them. BJP itself had accepted it," he added.
Mumbai, Mar 17 (ANI): A cycle ride has been started in Mumbai to create awareness about mental health. Kumar Mangalam Birla's daughter, Ananya Birla kick-started the cycle ride at National Sports Club of India (NSCI). Large number of people participated in the ride. In an interview to ANI, she said, "Cycling is very good for one's health. Cycling is a good way to maintain both physical as well as mental health." Talking about insurance, she said that everyone should get their insurance done because it's a safeguard. If people don't feel well then they can take right treatment and proper medical help.

New Delhi, Mar 17 (ANI): External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj emplaned for Maldives from Delhi today. She is on a two-day visit to Maldives from today onwards. She will be accompanied by a high-level official delegation, including Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale. During the visit, she will call on President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Parliament Speaker Qasim Ibrahim and will also meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Shahid. She is also scheduled to hold a joint ministerial meeting to discuss cooperation in a wide variety of areas. g
Mumbai, Mar 17 (ANI): One staff member of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) was declared dead after he fell down in a water chamber in Mumbai. This incident occurred while he was doing the cleaning work inside the water chamber. Five others were also injured in the incident. The incident occurred at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. The victim was later identified as Rajesh Nigam. All injured have been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment.
Gaya (Bihar), Mar 17 (ANI): Jewellery worth Rs three lakh and Rs four lakh in cash was allegedly stolen from the house of a Janata Dal (United)-JD (U) leader in Bihar's Gaya on March 15. This incident took place at Rampur area of Gaya district. Police alleged that some miscreants entered the residence of JD (U) Gaya Mahanagar vice president Shahzad Shah by breaking down the main door and took off with Rs four lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs three lakh. Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) of Rampur Gopal Mishra said, "We have received information that a burglary took place here. The incident occurred when Shah was not present in his house as he had gone to Jahanabad to attend a marriage party. Investigation is underway in this case." Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
Vaishali (Bihar), Mar 17 (ANI): Around three dead and three were captured in an encounter with police in Bihar's Vaishali on Saturday. This incident took place in Bahlolpur area of Vaishali district. Vaishali Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Manavjit Singh Dhillon said, "We had received information on presence of criminals here. In ensuing encounter three were killed and three were captured. 2 AK-47s and pistols have been recovered from them." Further investigation is underway in this case.
Bengaluru, Mar 17 (ANI): Hundreds of people staged protest against the proposed elevated corridor project in Bengaluru on Saturday. The project proposed by Karnataka government met objection because of environmental concerns. Protestors demanded for more investment in the public transport system.
Shivamogga (Karnataka), Mar 17 (ANI): At least five thatched huts were gutted in a fire late Saturday evening at Mattodi village in Karnataka's Shivamogga. Soon after receiving the report of the incident, police and fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the blaze. The locals were also present at the site of the incident. So far no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Mar 17 (ANI): The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Saturday decided to field a transgender named Kajal Nayak from Korei assembly seat for upcoming assembly elections in Odisha. Kajal, also a social worker from Jajpur region said, "I am happy that BSP has decided to give ticket to me to contest the poll. I approached many political parties earlier but no one entertained me, I am thankful to BSP for showing their faith in me and in the transgender community." Kajal is also the president of Transgender Association of Jajpur and has been working for transgender rights as well as on local issues. Panaji (Goa), Mar 17 (ANI): Stating that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is "very ill," Deputy Speaker and Calangute BJP MLA Michael Lobo on Saturday said that "there are no chances of him getting well." Speaking to ANI on Saturday, he said: "Emergency meeting was called because Parrikar's health has deteriorated since last night. Doctors are continuously monitoring his health but are not saying that he will get alright anytime soon." "It was also about the Lok Sabha elections. There is no change of leadership and Manohar Parrikar will remain the Chief Minister," he said. "We are praying to God that he should get well but there are no chances of him getting well. He is very ill" he added.
