"COVAX aims to deliver at least 2 billion vaccines by the end of 2021, covering 20% of the most vulnerable population in about 92 low and middle-income countries," said Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. Imphal (Manipur), May 20 (ANI): In an unusual decision, Manipur Government has ordered for muting the ambulance sirens across the state to 'prevent' anxiety and nervousness amid second wave of COVID-19. The state medical directorate, in a notification, urged the chief medical officers, medical superintendents, employees of private hospitals, and ambulance operators to shut down the sirens as they are "intimidating people and causing social concern". "They are using the siren unnecessarily and untimely. When they are on the road, they simply use ambulance sirens whether they carry the patient or not. While carrying the patient if there is a block on the way, they can use the siren but otherwise, it is not necessary to sue especially during this hour," says K Rajo Singh, Director, Manipur Health Services.

Patna (Bihar), May 20 (ANI): Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey on May 20 said that nearly 50 black fungus cases have been reported in the state. Special wards have been made for the patients in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) and AIMMS hospitals in Patna, said Pandey. "Vaccines for the black fungus have been provided to the district hospitals. There are arrangements of vaccines in private hospitals also," he added.

Mumbai, May 20 (ANI): Around 1,500 cases of mucormycosis (also called Black Fungus) have been reported in the Maharashtra, informed state Health Minister Rajesh Tope on May 19 while addressing a press conference in Mumbai. He also said the state is facing shortage of medicine that is used in the treatment of the patients infected with mucormycosis. "There're about 1,500 mucormycosis cases. We've decided to provide free treatment in hospitals under Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and to govt hospitals. State will provide them with Amphotericin B vials. Global tender has also been issued," Tope said.
