New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): Niti Aayog Member (Health) Dr. VK Paul on May 18 said that the Phase 2-3 clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin, which has been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), for in the age group of 2 to 18 years will begin in the next 10-12 days. "COVAXIN has been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), for Phase II/III clinical trials in the age group of 2 to 18 years. I have been told that trials will begin in the next 10-12 days," he said.
Dehradun (Uttarakhand), May 18 (ANI): Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar informed that action has been taken against nearly 3 lakh people in around 2 months for violating COVID protocols. "Action taken against 2.99 lakh people so far, in nearly 2 months amid 2nd wave, for violating COVID protocols including 1.20 lakh fined for not wearing masks, 1.68 lakh for defying social distancing and over 800 booked for violating Disaster Management Act," said Uttarakhand DGP.

Mumbai, May 18 (ANI): Indian Navy rescued a person from Barge P305 that went adrift in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai in the midst of an approaching. The rescued crew member shared his horrific experience. He said, "I had never thought of witnessing a situation like this. I was thinking about my family more than my life. I got injured while jumping off the barge."
New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral MS Pawar on May 12 said that four of Indian Navy's ships are on rescue and search operation day and night. "For the last 20 hours these units have been battling to search and rescue as many people as they can in the challenging weather conditions," he said. "This is one of the most challenging search and rescue ops I've seen in the last 4 decades. 4 INS are on site. Main ops pertain to searching and rescuing 261 people from Afcons Barge P305 which sank about 60km away from Mumbai yesterday,' he said.
New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal on May 18 informed that 8 states have more than 1 lakh active cases and 18 states have less than 50,000 active cases in the country. "There are 8 states with more than 1 lakh active cases. 10 states with more than 50,000-1,00,00 active cases and 18 states with less than 50,000 active cases," he said. He added that the weekly COVID-19 positivity rate have decreased and stands at 16.9 per cent.

"On May 3, recovery rate was 81.7%, which has increased to 85.6% now. 4,22,436 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, the highest-ever for the country. He said that a clear positive trend can be observed in COVID-19 recoveries", said Agarwal.

"Families where the breadwinner died, will be given Rs 2500 monthly pension besides the ex-gratia. If husband dies, pension will be given to the wife, if wife dies it will be given to the husband. If an unmarried person dies, the pension will be given to his/her parents," said Delhi CM.

"Children who lost both parents either due to COVID-19 or with one parent already dead and the one succumbed to COVID now will be given Rs 2,500 monthly pension till they attain the age of 25 years. They will be provided free education," said Delhi CM.

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): More than 100 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in 5-6 states to mitigate effects of Cyclone Tauktae, informed NDRF Director General SN Pradhan on May 16. "More than 100 teams of NDRF have been deployed in 5-6 states. During a meeting with CMs of Gujarat and Maharashtra, the home minister said that our aim should be zero casualties and we're focusing on that. Maybe, we need to evacuate lakhs of people in Gujarat," Pradhan said.
