Palghar COVID hospital fire incident not national news: Rajesh Tope

Mumbai, Apr 23 (ANI): Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that Palghar COVID hospital fire incident is "not national news". "In today's meeting with the PM, we will talk about Oxygen, Remdesivir, an adequate quantity of vaccines for the State...also the Palghar fire incident, it is not national news. State government will provide financial assistance to those affected," Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope. 13 people have lost their lives in a fire incident at Vijay Vallabh COVID care hospital in Maharashtra's Palghar.

COVID: PM Modi chairs meeting with CMs of high burden states

Oxygen tankers arrive at Delhi hospitals after SOS request

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): An Oxygen tanker arrived at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on April 23 after the hospital sends out SOS. The emergency was sent as 25 sickest patients have died in the hospital in last 24 hrs and lives of another 60 sickest patients are in peril. Similarly, an Oxygen carrying vehicle has reached Max Hospital in Saket after they sent an SOS to the government.

Huge crowd seen at Mumbai's Mira Road railway station

Mumbai, Apr 23 (ANI): Despite of surge in COVID cases, a huge crowd was seen at Mumbai's Mira Road Railway Station on Apr 23. With no social distancing, people were seen at the station. Reportedly, the crowd got gathered due to e-pass checking. Currently, Mumbai has 82616 active COVID cases.

13 died after fire breaks out at COVID centre in Palghar

Palghar (Maharashtra), Apr 23 (ANI): In an unfortunate incident, 13 people died after fire broke out at a COVID centre in Vasai of Palghar. The affected patients are being shifted to nearby hospitals. Official of Vijay Vallabh COVID Care Hospital, Dr Dilip Shah said, "3 people have died after a fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) around 3am today. 21 patients including those in critical condition have been shifted to another hospital." No lockdown in Goa: CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji (Goa), Apr 23 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed that the state government is not in favour of imposing lockdown. Our financial activity must keep going, this is how we manage COVID. Therefore, we do not want to impose lockdown," said CM Pramod Sawant. He further informed that the state government will provide free COVID vaccine to all from May 01. "Today we have placed 5 lakh orders of Covishield," he added.

Odisha's steel plant dispatches 20 tonnes oxygen to Visakhapatnam

Jharkhand govt announces free vaccination for all above 18-years

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): Government of India had announced that everyone above 18-years will be eligible to get vaccinated from May 01. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren took another step in the same direction and announced free vaccination to all above the age of 18-years. Currently there are 40,942 active cases in the state. On April 22, the state reported 7,595 new COVID infections and 106 deaths. The death toll of Jharkhand mounted to 1,715.

COVID: Delhi registers 26,169 new cases, 306 deaths on April 22

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): The national capital is the worst hit city by COVID-19. Delhi registered 26,169 new COVID infections on April 22 which took the total COVID caseload of the city to 9,56,348. 306 new fatalities were reported in Delhi, therefore the death toll mounted to 13,193. Currently there are 91,618 active cases in the city. So far, 8,51,537 people have won the battle against COVID in the national capital. Amid surge in COVID cases, Delhi is facing the shortage of oxygen.

Ro-Ro express train carrying liquid oxygen leaves RINL Vizag steel plant

Gautam Gambhir denies claims of 'hoarding' Fabiflu

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): People rushed to BJP MP Gautam Gambhir's office for 'Fabiflu' with prescription after he took to twitter and announced that people of East Delhi can get the medicine us in COVID treatment for free. He has been accused of hoarding COVID-19 medicines. While speaking to ANI, Gambhir said that he will do everything to save lives of people. "If a few 100 strips of tablets obtained from a distributor are being given for free, then, can it be called hoarding? Is my obtaining a few strips of Fabiflu causing the shortage? You can call me wrong but I will do everything to save lives of people," said Gambhir.

Delhi dependant on oxygen coming from other states: CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): Delhi doesn't produce Oxygen it depends on other states, informed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 22. "Centre also allots companies that will supply oxygen to a particular state. Delhi doesn't produce oxygen, supply here is done by other states. Some of the Governments, in whose states these companies are, had stopped the supply that was to come to Delhi from these companies," said Delhi CM.

CM Kejriwal thanks Centre for increasing Delhi's oxygen quota

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arivind Kijriwal on April 22 thanked Central government for increasing Delhi's Oxygen quota from 378 to 480 tons. "Delhi is facing oxygen crisis for past few days. Centre fixes oxygen quota for all states. As per Delhi governments estimate, the Union Territory needs 700 tons/day, Centre had fixed it to 378 tons earlier and increased it to 480 tons yesterday. We need more but we are thankful to them for this," said CM Kejriwal.

COVID: Delhi Health Minister appeals Centre for more ICU beds

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): As Delhi continues to bear the brunt of COVID, Health Minister Satyendar Jain admitted the crisis of ICU beds in the hospitals and demanded for more ICU beds from the Centre. "There is a crisis of ICU beds. We have made a request to the Centre, I think they will give us 700-800 ICU beds soon. We have demanded 7000 beds in Central government-run hospitals, they have given us around 2000," said Health Minister Jain.

Maharashtra govt appeals Centre to allot more Remdesivir injections

Mumbai, Apr 22 (ANI): Maharashtra Government appealed Centre to allot more Remdesivir injections to the State to battle COVID-19. "We need 50,000 Remdisivir injections daily but now we have been allotted only 26,000 injections for the next 10 days by the Centre. I appeal to the Government of India to allot more injections to the State, I will write to them today," said Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

Ghazipur Border, Apr 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rahesh Tikait on April 22 at Ghazipur border said that many farmers are struggling to get the second dose of COVID vaccine. "Farmers are at their home. Where else will we ask them to go? Is COVID spreading from here? We have been living here for last 5 months, it's our home now. Many farmers took vaccine but are struggling to get the 2nd dose. We have told officers to set up camp here," said BKU leader. 'Not a comfortable situation': Delhi Health Minister on shortage of medical oxygen

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): As hospitals in Delhi reel under the crisis of medical oxygen, Delhi's Health Minister Satyendar Jain on April 22 raised concerns and said that 'not a comfortable situation' as oxygen last in some hospitals for 6 to 10 hrs. "Situation is different in different hospitals; 6 hours in some, 8 in others 10 in some others. We can't call this a comfortable situation," said Health Minister Jain.
