"Didi, is there any truth in the rumour that you are going to file nomination from another constituency? First you went there (Nandigram), and people gave you an answer. If you go somewhere else, people of Bengal are ready," he said.

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): Amid the second wave of COVID-19 across the country, India on April 01 reported 72,330 new cases, the highest in almost six months, in the last 24 hours. 459 people succumbed to the virus in the same period. The fresh fatalities are highest in almost five months. Total confirmed cases are 1,22,21,665 whereas the death toll has reached 1,62,927. As the pandemic is spreading its legs again, the active cases are continuously rising and have now reached 5,84,055. With 40,382 discharges, total recoveries are 1,14,74,683. India so far has given 6,51,17,896 covid-19 vaccine jabs to beneficiaries.

New Delhi, Mar 31 (ANI): Despite spike in COVID-19 cases across the country, people are barely seen following COVID norms. The wholesale fruit and vegetable market in Gazipur still continues to witness huge rush even as the national capital is seemingly experiencing another COVID wave. Several buyers and vendors present in the market were seen without masks. Social distancing norms were flouted and the market was seen flooded with the crowd despite the guidelines issued by the government. "Corona cases are rising day by day and this market remains always crowded and social distancing is not maintained. People should maintain social distancing," said Suresh Kumar Gupta, a local. "People are careless, not maintaining social distancing and moving without wearing masks. They are risking their lives along with others. It's a violation of government's rules and this scenario is seen everywhere in Delhi," said Noor Hasan, another local.
