Watch: Massive fire envelops Rajasthan's forest

Dungarpur (Rajasthan), Mar 30 (ANI): Massive fire enveloped a forest in Sabla area of Rajasthan's Dungarpur on March 29. The forest was continuously burning for 10 hours, before the fire brigades doused off the fire. The massive fire posed severe threat to the wildlife. Reason behind the fire is ascertain. Fire officials will enter the forest area on March 30 to examine the loss of wildlife and nature.

Ever Given ship, stuck in Suez Canal, fully refloated

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): The ship Ever Given, which had blocked the Suez Canal in Egypt for almost a week after getting stuck sideways in the narrow passageway of the channel, was finally fully refloated, and the traffic has resumed. A tracker by Fleetmon showed the ship that was earlier stuck sideways, changing its position and moving ahead.

Baramulla (JandK), Mar 29 (ANI): The wreath laying ceremony of Councillor Riyaz Ahmad and Police personnel Shafqat, who were killed in a terrorist attack on March 29, were held in Sopore. Several officers were present to pay their last tribute to the officers. One more councillor was also injured in the attack that took place at Municipal Office in Sopore.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Mar 29 (ANI): General secretary of Indian National Congress Randeep Singh Surjewala slammed Kerala government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre by alleging that there is a secret understanding between both the parties. He alleged that Kerala government is purchasing electricity from Adani's Long Term Wind Power Project by paying him high cost. "The solar power is available at Rs 1 cheaper to Adani's Wind power. The quota of the solar power was reduced by PM Modi and CM Vijayan 2.5 per cent to 0.25 percent why, then Kerala would have benefitted," he said.

People will reply with votes: Shahnawaz Hussain on death of BJP worker in Bengal

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain condoled the death of BJP worker, who was allegedly beaten by TMC workers a month before. He said that the people of the state will give reply to TMC by their votes. BJP worker Gopal Majumdar had alleged last month that three TMC workers attacked his house and his mother. Following the alleged attack, several BJP leaders including Suvendu Adhikari had visited Shobha's residence to take her to the hospital. She was being treated at a private hospital and had returned to her home four days ago. Following her death, BJP candidate in Dumdam Uttar constituency Dr Archana Majumdar blamed TMC activists for her death.

Security beefed up in Delhi amid ban on public Holi celebrations

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): Heavy security has been deployed in national security on the festival of Holi as the public Holi celebrations have been banned, in view of rising COVID-19 cases. Vehicles are being strictly checked in Delhi. Currently the active cases in Delhi stand at 7,545.

No violation of Holi celebration guidelines in Delhi so far: SN Shrivastava

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): Over the ban of public Holi celebrations in national capital, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava said that no violation of guidelines was reported today. "As per Delhi Disaster Management Authority guidelines, no celebrations for Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Navratri, have been allowed at public places. I am happy to inform you that no violation of guidelines has been reported, so far," said Delhi Police Commissioner.

With over 68k COVID cases, India reports highest single-day spike of 2021

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): India reported highest infections of 2021 on March 29 with 68,020 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total toll to 1,20,39,644. Union Health Ministry reported 32,231 recoveries in the last 24 hours. With new numbers, total recoveries reached 1,13,55,993. Currently there are 5,21,808 active cases in the country. With 291 new deaths due to COVID virus, death toll stood at 1,61,843.

Bhubaneswar streets empty as Odisha govt bans public Holi celebrations

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Mar 29 (ANI): Streets in Bhubaneswar were seen deserted on the festival of Holi on March 29. Odisha government has banned Holi celebrations at public places in the state in view of COVID-19 pandemic. According to the state government's health department website, Odisha currently has 1,650 active Covid-19 cases. The state's cumulative case count is 3,40,194.

India gifts one lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Nepal Army

Kathmandu (Nepal), Mar 29 (ANI): As a mark of friendship and strong ties between New Delhi and Kathmandu, India gifted one lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the Nepal Army on March 28. The nine packages of Covishield vaccines, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII) arrived in Kathmandu, via an Air India flight late in the evening. So far, India has provided COVID-19 vaccines to over 70 countries. India has also provided medical supplies to 150 nations in the fight during pandemic.

DK Shivakumar's convoy attacked by supporters of BJP's Ramesh Jarkiholi

Belagavi (Karnataka), Mar 28 (ANI): A convoy of Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar was allegedly attacked by supporters of state BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi in Belagavi on March 28. A group of people were seen thrashing Shivakumar's SUV car passing by a road in Belagavi. Jarkilholi on March 27 called the state Congress chief an impotent and alleged his hand behind the alleged sex tape which forced Jarkiholi to resign as a minister. Singh added that Rahul's track record is not good, highlighting his defeat in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi during 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Salem (Tamil Nadu), Mar 28 (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is in the last leg of campaigning in Tamil Nadu, on March 28 "guarantee" that DMK president MK Stalin will be the next chief minister of the state, adding that the state will pave the way for removing the BJP from Centre. "I can guarantee that Stalin will be the CM. Decision has been made, now elections will formalise it. But the fight doesn't stop here as RSS and BJP have unlimited money. Manipur's Shirui peak erupts in flames, CM seeks Centre's help

Shirui (Manipur) March 28 (ANI): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has sought help from the Central government in dousing the fire at Shirui peak, located in the Ukhrul district. The Chief Secretary of Manipur has also written a letter to the Centre in this regard. The massive fire broke out in the wee hours of the morning. "Very unfortunate to see the fire spreading at Shirui Peak, Ukhrul District, Manipur. Spoken to Union Home Ministry Additional Secretary to extend all possible help from NDRF to douse the fire. An official letter has also been sent from the Manipur Chief Secretary," the Chief Minister tweeted.

Mansukh Hiren death case: NIA recovers CPUs, number plates from Mithi river

Mumbai, Mar 28 (ANI): In the latest development in Mansukh Hiren death case, the National Investigation Agency took arrested police officer Sachin Waze to Mithi River bridge in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla complex on March 28 for evidence recovery. A team of divers recovered CPU, number plates of a vehicle, and other items from the river. Waze, Assistant Police Inspector in the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU), was arrested in connection with the investigation into the recovery of explosives from a car parked near Ambani's house in Mumbai on February 25. Mansukh Hiren, the owner of the vehicle that was found containing explosives outside Ambani's house, was found dead in a creek on March 5 in Thane.
