COVID-19 outbreak: Aligarh jail inmates make masks due to shortage in market

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 19 (ANI): Amid growing cases of novel coronavirus disease in India, the demand of masks has also been increased. So, keeping in view of shortage of masks in the market, Aligarh prisoners are making masks in the jail. Aligarh Jail Superintendent, Alok Singh said, "We are making masks in jail because they are not available in the market. So far, we have made around 400 masks."More than 151 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.

COVID-19: New date for JEE Main exams will be announced on March 31, informs MHRD

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has ordered the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and all educational institutions in the country to reschedule all the exams including JEE Mains in view of coronavirus outbreak. Speaking on the step, Secretary of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Amit Khare said, "The safety and security of children are important to us. We have decided that all examinations - CBSE, NIOS and University exams are rescheduled and postponed till March 31. Similarly, the evaluation work is postponed till March 31. New date for JEE Main exams will be announced on March 31, after assessing the situation."

COVID-19 outbreak: ICSE 10, 12 Board exams not postponed, will be held as per schedule

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): After MHRD directed CBSE Board and all educational institutions to postpone their exams including JEE Mains in view of coronavirus outbreak, the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE) announced that the class 10th and 12th exams will be held as per the schedule. The chairman of Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, Dr G Immanuel informed about the same. More than 151 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. The virus had first emerged in China's Wuhan in December last year.

Days after violence, Normalcy returns in Manipur's Kamjong

Kamjong (Manipur), Mar 19 (ANI): As normalcy returns in Chassad village in Kamjong district, the remnants of burnt houses and two wheelers that were set on fire were the first sight visible as one enters the village. "Around 100 houses may have been burnt, but factual report can be confirmed after the fact finding committee visits," said Deputy Commissioner Kengoo Zuringla. Smoke was still coming out from few of the burnt houses and there were women looking at the houses and weeping helplessly. Few women with kids were feeding their babies in the tents. Children were seen looking for things around the remains of the burnt houses.The violence broke out due to alleged inter-village land dispute.

HRD Ministry asks CBSE to postpone all exams including JEE Mains in view of COVID-19 till Mar 31

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on March 18 directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and all educational institutions in the country to postpone all exams including JEE Mains in view of coronavirus outbreak. "All ongoing examinations may be rescheduled after March 31. This would include CBSE, NIOS as also university exams. All evaluation work may be rescheduled after March 31," MHRD announced. The Ministry has requested all teachers and educational institutes to maintain regular communication with students and resolve their queries. It has also appealed to parents, students, and teachers not to panic. A total of 151 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday. FDA seizes illegal sanitizer manufacturing unit in Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 19 (ANI): As sanitizers became an essential commodity nowadays, illegal hand sanitizers have started coming into markets. However, Food and Drug Administration is taking quick action against the manufactures. In a recent incident, on March 18, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized chemicals and other items used for making sanitizers. It is said that the company named Siddhivinayak Diachem did not have the required permissions to manufacture sanitizers.

Coronavirus pandemic: Karnataka CM to share fresh directives, informs Medical Education Minister

Bengaluru, Mar 17 (ANI): The Medical Education Minister, Dr Sudhakar K said that the Chief Minister of Karnataka B.S. Yediyurappa will share fresh directives after taking stock of the pandemic coronavirus situation is state. He said, "Chief Minister is going to preside upon a meeting in another couple of days, and he is going to take stock of situation and share fresh directives based on the conditions that is there in the state." He further added, "This is the hospital which was built by BBMP. They want to hand it over to medical education. This is about 300-bedded hospital. COVID-19: Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation undertakes sanitization drive at public places

Ghaziabad, Mar 17 (ANI): Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation conducted cleanliness drive to sanitize the surroundings. All the nooks and corners of Ghaziabad Railway Station were disinfected thoroughly. ICMR appeals private laboratories to offer COVID-19 diagnosis free: Lav Agarwal

The industry is affected as the silk imported from China has been banned in wake of COVID-19 outbreak. A lot of factories are abandoned in Varanasi. The business has been directly affected by the disease. A businessman said, "The business has been badly affected. We do not get silk and all the system is shut down. All the weavers are jobless." China's Wuhan was earlier epicenter of the deadly disease. That's the reason industries depending on China are rocked. India has witnessed around 137 positive cases so far.

Mumbai Film City deserted after halt on shoots amid COVID-19 scare

Mumbai, Mar 17 (ANI): Mumbai Film City was deserted on March 17 as government announced shut down for many industries, public spaces and institutions. On March 15, Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) decided to stop all entertainment format shoot from March 19 to March 31. Entertainment Industry is avoiding shoots in prevention of the disease. The eatery in film city was also vacant. Subhash Borker, Joint Managing Director of Film City said, "On order of municipal commissioner, all the indoor and outdoor shoots have been stopped. Tourists and general public is also forbidden to enter in the Film City. Only people working in Film City are allowed to enter. We are taking all kind of precautions for our staff as well." Total positive cases of coronavirus in India have mounted to 126. The number of deaths in country has reached to 3 with one death in Maharashtra.
