Kerala Govt's decision to move SC against CAA is 'unlawful': Governor Arif

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 20 (ANI): Regarding seeking explanation from state government's Chief Secretary after Kerala Government announced decision to move to Supreme Court against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that his approval is needed before taking such decision. He said, "I won't like to discuss what transpired between him and me. Going to Supreme Court without informing me, my view is that approval is needed. But even if for the sake of argument I accept that only info is needed, they've gone to SC without informing me. That's an unlawful act. So no explanation can satisfy me.

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): Newly-elected BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda on January 20 said that 'lotus of BJP' will spread across the country and that the party will develop more in the coming years. He said, "The party has to grow more and do a lot more work. I want to assure Prime Minister Narendra Modi that I will work hard along with everyone present here, and the party will develop more. Some states still remain, we will spread the lotus of BJP across India," Nadda took over the post from HM Amit Shah after he was elected unopposed.

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): Former Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung spoke to mediapersons outside Jamia Millia Islamia, said that making Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) inclusive will dismiss the public outcry against the law. He said, "I feel that Citizenship (Amendment) Act needs a revamp. They should either include Muslims or remove other names. Make it inclusive, matter will get dismissed. If PM calls these people and talks, the matter will get resolved."

Bomb disposal squad detonates IED found at Mangalore Airport

Mangalore (Karnataka), Jan 20 (ANI): Bomb disposal and detection squad safely detonates the bag, containing Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at an isolated place on January 20. The bag was found at a ticket counter at Mangalore Airport. CISF cordoned off the area and bomb disposal squad took the bag in its custody. A man left bag at the airport and was seen leaving in auto while concealing face in a CCTV footage.

Top Hizbul commander neutralized in Shopian: DGP Dilbag Singh

Srinagar, Jan 20 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir's DGP Dilbag Singh on January 20 informed that police neutralised three terrorists in an encounter including Hizbul Mujahideen's top commander in Shopian. "Today in Shopian, we neutralised 3 terrorists. One of them, their commander Wasim Ahmed Wani was active since 2017 and was on a top position in Hizbul Mujahideen. He had 19 FIRs against him and was also involved in killing of 4 civilians and 4 cops," said JandK DGP Dilbag Singh. "The second was Adil Sheikh and the third is being identified as Jahangir," DGP Dilbag Singh further added.

Tactic to delay hanging rejected: Nirbhaya's mother after convict's petition dismissed

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): Supreme Court on January 20 dismissed the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by one of the convicts in 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case, Pawan Kumar Gupta, as the court did not find any fresh ground in the matter. Pawan has claimed that he was a juvenile at the time of crime and the Delhi High Court had ignored this fact.While reacting on the dismissed SLP, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said, "Their tactic to delay hanging has been rejected. I'll be satisfied only when they're hanged on February 01. Just like they are delaying it one after other, they must be hanged one by one so that they understand what it means to play with law."

Davinder Singh's case transferred to NIA: DGP Dilbag Singh

Srinagar, Jan 20 (ANI): While addressing a press conference Jammu and Kashmir's DGP Dilbag Singh informed that the case has been transferred to National Investigative Agency (NIA). "That case (of DSP Davinder Singh) has been transferred to NIA, it will not be right for me to make a comment on it. Some findings have come out, they are before NIA. His custody is being given to the investigating agency. It is being investigated in right direction," said JandK DGP. DSP Davinder Singh, was arrested last weekend along with district commander of banned Hizbul Mujahideen.
