New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released the list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, on January 14. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will contest from the New Delhi assembly constituency. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia will contest from Patparganj. Whereas, party leader Atishi, who was pitted against BJP's Gautam Gambhir in Lok Sabha elections, will contest the Kalkaji seat. Speaking to mediapersons, Sisodia said, "46 sitting MLAs have been given tickets. 15 sitting MLAs have been replaced. Nine seats that were vacant have been given to new candidates. Last time six women were given tickets by AAP, this time eight women have been given tickets."

Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 14 (ANI): Six infants died at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol on Jan 13. Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. Speaking on the matter, Civil Surgeon In-Charge, Mukund Chaturvedi said, "Admin can't be blamed, infants were brought in highly critical condition. Doctors made efforts to save them. Investigation underway, anyone found guilty will be punished."

Aiyar added a statement which can steer controversy, he said "let's see whose hand is stronger ours' or that killer'." "They are taking information from you, the people of Shaheen Bagh, not from 80 per cent Hindus, which will be misused," said Aiyar.
Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Jan 14 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in Uttarayan festival on January 14 in Gujarat's Ahmedabad. Shah flew kite and tasted sweets with the residents of a colony in Ahmedabad. Makar Sankranti or 'Uttarayan' in Gujarat, is the first festival that falls in the New Year. It is also known as the"Festival of Kites", the state of Gujarat celebrated this version of Makar Sankranti with great enthusiasm. 'Uttarayan' is celebrated for two days. Foreign Ministers of 13 countries will participate in this annual geo-political and geo-economic summit. Delegates of 105 countries will be participating in the three-day summit.

They held a protest march from SC to Jantar Mantar. They demonstrated against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). Protesters held preamble and "Save Constitution" posters in their hands.
New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices traded in a narrow range on Tuesday but closed with a positive bias as hopes of interest rate cut receded following a surge in inflation. The BSE SandP Sensex closed 93 points higher at 41,953 while the Nifty 50 moved up by 33 points at 12,362. Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were mixed with Nifty FMCG kicking up by 1.4 per cent. While retail inflation print for December came at 7.35 per cent, up from 5.54 per cent in November, wholesale inflation inched up to 2.59 per cent. Auto majors Hero MotoCorp and Mahindra and Mahindra moved up by 2 per cent and 1.3 per cent while IT czars Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies gained by 1.3 per cent and 1.2 per cent respectively. However, banking stocks fell with Yes Bank plunging by 8.3 per cent, IndusInd Bank by 4 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank by 0.7 per cent and State Bank of India by 0.8 per cent.
Bengaluru, Jan 14 (ANI): After the collective defiance in cities in Karnataka against Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) and proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC), workers of BJP on January 14 repainted slogans against the new citizenship law. Protests had intensified in Karnataka in December 2019 and the state had to impose section 144 in many parts. The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) became an Act on December 12, 2019, after President Kovind gave his assent to the bill.
New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Bureau of Indian Standards Scientist-F, HS Pasricha, on Tuesday said that after January 15, 2021, no gold jewellery and artefacts will be sold without BIS hallmark. Adding to it, he said gold will only be sold in three carats i.e. 14, 18 and 22. "Under BIS Act, the offender will be fined Rs 1 lakh which can vary accordingly and imprisonment," he added.

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on January 14 met a Bangladeshi delegation led by his counterpart Muhammad H Mahmud in New Delhi. Both the sides agreed to promote further bilateral relationship in Information and Broadcasting Sector. A formal MoU for the co-production of a film on BangaBandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was also inked. The film will be directed by filmmaker Shyam Benegal, and to be released as part of centenary celebrations of BangaBandhu. India and Bangladesh also agreed to scale up joint production and exchange of programs between official broadcasters and Radio. India has extended its support to establish a film city in Bangladesh and also have technical exchange between NFDC and BFDC.
New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): In face of soaring onion prices, Union Minister of Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan, on Tuesday said that around 36,000 tonnes of onions have been imported, but only 2000 tonnes have been sold after all the efforts. He further said that government is providing onions at Rs 22 per kg now.

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): The road stretch of Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh remained closed for traffic in the national capital. Stretch is closed for traffic since December 15 last year over anti-CAA protests. Delhi High Court asked concerned authority to look into the matter in larger public interest and deal with issue of maintaining law and order. It is a petition seeking to withdraw closure of Delhi's Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch which was closed on December 15, 2019 for ongoing protests against CAA.

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Supreme Court dismissed curative petitions of two convicts - Vinay Kumar Sharma and Mukesh Singh in 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape case on January 14. Convicts moved to SC after a Delhi court issued death warrant of all four convicts. Convicts are slated for execution on January 22, 7 AM. They were convicted for heinous rape of a 23-year-old medical professional on a moving bus on the night of December 16, 2012. The victim later succumbed to her injuries.
New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): After Supreme Court rejected curative petition of convicts in 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape case, convicts' lawyer AP Singh said that further legal remedies will be sought. He said, "We will talk to our client and take further legal remedies. It is a media trial." Meanwhile, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi, termed it 'big day'. She said, "This is a big day for me. I had been struggling for the last 7 years. But the biggest day will be 22nd January when they (convicts) will be hanged." A Delhi court has pronounced execution of convicts to be held on January 22, at 7 AM. The last resort for convicts is a mercy plea.
