DMK holds mega rally against CAA in Chennai

Chennai, Dec 23 (ANI): Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) along with its alliance parties held mega rally against CAA in Chennai on December 23. Congress leader P Chidambaram and MDMK's Vaiko participated in the rally. Thousands of people also took part in the rally. The security was beefed up during the rally to keep an eye on the protestors. The nation-wide protests have been intensified since both Houses of Parliament passed the new Citizenship Act.

'We stand for secularism': DMK Spokesperson on CAA

Chennai, Dec 23 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its alliance parties are set to hold a 'mega rally' against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Chennai on December 23, the Spokesperson of DMK, Saravanan Annadurai said, "This rally is organised by our party leaders and president MK Stalin to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). We have been opposing all the moves of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which divides the country on communal fault lines." "We opposed this in parliament (both houses) and our party MPs stated out the reasons that why this bill should be opposed. We also had protest at our party headquarters and DMK is a party which stands for secularism," he added. "Six months back MK Stalin stated that India should prepare for a second freedom struggle under this draconian BJP government," Annadurai further stated.

People of Jharkhand are with BJP: Union Min Arjun Munda as party trails in early trends

New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): Speaking to ANI on Jharkhand Assembly Election results, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, asserted that people of the state are with BJP. "Can't really predict about the elections results, however, I believe Jharkhand's people are with BJP," said Arjun Munda. Counting of votes is underway in Jharkhand. At 11:00 AM, BJP was leading on 27 seats while the Congress-JMM-RJD alliance was leading on over 40 seats in the 81-member assembly. The polling in Jharkhand was held in five phases from November 30 to December 20.

New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on statement of Uttar Pradesh Police that they did not open fire during anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests, the veteran leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former MoS Shiv Pratap Shukla said, "After the post-mortem of all those who died during anti-CAA protests, the bullets of police personnel were not found in any of the bodies, so I agree with the statement of Uttar Pradesh Police." "On basis of CAA protests, you cannot challenge law and order situation in UP," he added.

Kirari fire: Delhi govt to give Rs 10 lakh to kin of deceased, says Satyendar Jain

New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): Speaking on the fire accident that took place in North-West Delhi's Kirari area, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to kin of deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to those injured in the accident. "A compensation of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to those injured. Injured will be treated on government expenses. SDM inquiry into reason behind the incident to be conducted within 7 days," the Delhi Health Minister said. At least nine people died after a fire broke out at a cloth godown in Kirari. The fire has been doused off and the injured have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi hospital.

In the video, people can be seen confronting Pragya and reminding her, a man said, "Your job is not to trouble us". Pragya Thakur and other man also argued over the language used. Pragya Thakur also filed a complaint with Bhopal Airport Director alleging that she was not allotted the seat that she had booked in a SpiceJet flight and the conduct of the airline crew was not right with her.

People in Patna hit road to support CAA

Patna (Bihar), Dec 23 (ANI): An organisation called 'Bharat Bachao Morcha' hit the road in Bihar's Patna to counter ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and NRC. Security was also beefed up across the rally. Speaking to ANI, a protester said, "The bill does no harm to the citizens of India." President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) on December 13 which sought to give Indian citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants who faced persecution in three neighbouring countries - Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

5 tourists killed as car falls into gorge in HP's Solan

Solan (Himachal Pradesh), Dec 23 (ANI): Five people from Haryana were killed in Himachal Pradesh's Solan on December 22. The accident took place near Kandaghat on the Solan-Shimla route on National Highway 5. Residents of Raipur Rani area of Haryana's Panchkula district were killed when their car turn off the road and fell into 300 meters gorge at Padhotha near Kandaghat in Solan district. They were between the age group of 20-25 years. Police team had to extricate bodies from car with the help of a cutter.

Twitter to redesign its iPad app

New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): Twitter's iPad app is getting a redesign to make it seamless and more efficient to use on Apple's tablet. As The Verge notes, the new design adds multiple columns to the iPad app, similar to its web interface with the navigation bar on the left and trending topics on the right.
