Sukhbir Badal along with other party leaders did 'seva' at the temple. SAD is all set to celebrate its 99th foundation day on Dec 14. The party leaders polished shoes at the Golden Temple and washed utensils.

Researchers now a step closer to potential new cancer treatment

New Delhi, Dec 13 (ANI): Researchers from the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute have discovered a potential new cancer immunotherapy target that involves switching off a regulatory cell to stop tumours growing and spreading. A journal of the American Association for Cancer Research - Cancer Discovery, has published the findings in a study. Head of QIMR Berghofer's Cancer Immunoregulation and Immunotherapy Laboratory, Associate Professor Michele Teng, said that the study could potentially help in treating such cancer patients for whom no other current immunotherapies have worked out.

Indonesia Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi arrives in Delhi

Varanasi hotels put up posters asking customers not to demand onions

Varanasi (UP), Dec 13 (ANI): Soaring prices of onion across nation are burning holes not only in household but also in hotel budgets. Several hotels in Varanasi have put up posters asking customers to not demand onion-made food. Onions are being sold at more than Rs 100 per kg in several states. Many consumers have cut down their consumption keeping in mind the high prices of onion. In order to control the onion crisis, the government is importing over 11,000 tonnes of onions from Turkey.

President Kovind gives his assent to Citizenship Amendment Bill, becomes an act

New Delhi, Dec 13 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019. The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 was passed in the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) with 125 in favour and 105 against the bill. Several Hindu refugees from Pakistan celebrated in favour of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 on Dec 11. CAB seeks to give Indian citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants who faced persecution in neighbouring countries.

Nirbhaya case: Hearing will take place through video conferencing at Patiala Court, informs Advocate

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Nirbhaya rape and murder case advocate in Patiala Court, Seema Kushwaha informed that the hearing will begin at 10:00 am in the morning at Patiala Court tomorrow (December 13), the hearing will take place through video conferencing. "Tomorrow, December 13, 2019, there is a hearing on the petition which we filed on December 13, 2018. The court asked all the stakeholders to be present there in the court for the hearing," said Advocate Seema Kushwaha. She further added, "The court also asked the 4 convicts to be present but their physical presence is not possible due to security issues. Thus, they will be there through video conferencing. The hearing will begin at 10:00 am in the morning in Patiala Court."

The Union Cabinet's nod to Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code amendment and the government's approval to a partial credit guarantee scheme for government-owned banks to purchase high-rated pooled assets from financially sound non-banking finance companies boosted the investor sentiment. Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 12 (ANI): A Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Mumbai resigned from his position against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019. "Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 is against the spirit of Constitution. As Civil Disobedience Movement, I have decided to not attend office. Either my application for VRS should be accepted or my letter should be accepted as my letter of resignation," said Abdur Rahman while speaking to ANI. The Bill was passed in both of the Houses in the Parliament.

SC dismisses all review petitions in Ayodhya title dispute case

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Supreme Court dismissed all the review petitions in Ayodhya case judgment on December 12. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president, Arshad Madani said, "We are sorry to hear it. Not all the review petitions are rejected, some of them are heard also." Speaking on the development, Hindu Mahasabha lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain said, "These are the informations coming from your end. But if it has been dismissed then I welcome it. YSRCP women MLAs tie 'rakhi' to CM Reddy for 'Disha' Act

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 12 (ANI): Women legislators of YSRCP, on December 12, tied 'rakhi' (sacred-thread) to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for introducing the 'Disha' Act for the women safety. The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on December 11 under CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy approved the enactment of the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Law (Amendment) Act also known as the 'Disha' Act that provides for harsher punishments, including the death sentence, to those guilty of heinous crimes against women. As announced earlier in the Assembly by Chief Minister, in the presence of adequate conclusive evidence in cases of crime against women such as rape, acid attacks among others the judgment must be pronounced within 21 days and trial must be completed in 14 days.
