Kaithal (Haryana), July 20 (ANI): A newborn baby girl was wrapped up into polythene and thrown into sewage in Haryana's Kaithal on Friday. The incident took place in Dogra gate area of Kaithal at around 4:00 am. Police reached on the spot while dogs were attacking the infant. She was later admitted into civil hospital. Girl's life is out of danger and her medical treatment is going on.
Umaria (Madhya Pradesh), July 20 (ANI): Children of Dadraudi, Kodar, Bartarai and other villages in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria struggle to cross a river through a damaged bridge to reach their school. "The bridge broke last year. People had put soil there which got washed away in the flood this year. When it rains we cannot go to school," said one of the children. However, not only children but even the villagers including women have been risking their lives by crossing the small river through the damaged pull. The District Education Officer (DEO) maintained that if the bridge is broken he will inform the concerned agency or department about it. While speaking to ANI on this matter, DEO Umesh Dhurve said, "If the bridge is broken, I will inform the concerned agency or department about it. Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh), July 20 (ANI): A man, Sujit Kumar, was thrashed and set ablaze by locals in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki on Friday. The incident took place in Raghopur village of Barabanki. This mishappening occurred after he was mistaken to be a thief when he hid in a house after being chased by dogs. He is now being admitted in a hospital. Two people have been arrested in this case. Sujit was on his way to in-laws house. While speaking to ANI on this matter, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Barabanki Akash Tomar said, "He was mistaken as a thief when he hid in a house after being chased by dogs. People thrashed him and tried to set him ablaze. Case of 'attempt to murder' has been registered and two were arrested. He is been referred to hospital in Lucknow and is stable now. We will arrest other accused too."
Cachar (Assam)/ Mangaluru (Karnataka), Jul 20 (ANI): A 10-feet long king cobra was rescued from Chotajalenga village in Assam's Cachar district yesterday. The snake was later released in Borail Wildlife Sanctuary. Meanwhile, a 9-feet long rock python was rescued from a house in Nanthoor area of Karnataka's Mangaluru.
New Delhi, July 20 (ANI): While addressing a gathering at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water Energy Horizons 2019 in the national capital on Friday, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said, "In India, we have current domestic refining capacity of 250 MMTPA (Mn Metric Ton Per Annum). Recent studies have pointed out that even with an aggressive EV (electric vehicle) roll out plan, India would need 450 MMTPA of refining capacity." "Unless we pay attention to this demand growth, in another few years, we will have to start importing refined products along with crude. Anyone investing in the refinery would need reasonable assurance that there will be demand for the economic life of the investment," he added.
Madhubani (Bihar), Jul 20 (ANI): 'Sri Ram Janki Math Gaushala' in Madhubani's Marwa village is flooded as the calamity hit state of Bihar. Gaushala houses around 500 abandoned and rescued cows. Locals say "We spoke to Circle Officer and other officers but haven't received help. Can't take 500 cows anywhere else, it'll cause traffic congestion." Caretaker Sandeep Kr Tiwari said, "Everything is flooded here, we now get fodder at a higher price from a distant place. A good veterinary doctor is needed here to take care of cows. Administration and officers are not listening to us. We need help from the govt."
Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), Jul 20 (ANI): After police personnel are allegedly seen threatening a victim and witness of 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, Budhana Circle Officer Vijay Prakash said, "There's a criminal, wanted under Gangster Act. We had received info that he's at a house. Police went there. People at house let him flee and began fighting with police." New Delhi, Jul 20 (ANI): Delhi Police arrested five men and seized 150 kg of Afghan-origin Heroin worth $87 million. Delhi Police said that it was their largest haul of the drug. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Manishi Chandra said, "New Delhi range has busted an International narcotic drug syndicate. In investigation done till now, we have seized 150 kg of very high quality Afghan heroin. Five criminals have been arrested and some luxurious cars have been seized." Two of the five arrested were chemical experts from Afghanistan. Luxury cars like Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, and Corolla Altis were also seized by the police. Further investigation in the matter is currently underway.
New Delhi, Jul 20 (ANI): You have heard about the excessive use of air conditioners being one of the factors influencing global warming and climate change. But did you know, use of air conditioners during peak summers is also one of the causes behind premature deaths? A new study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison analyses how out of 100,000 premature deaths in the US, nearly 500 are caused or exacerbated by air pollution which could be avoided simply by running the air conditioners a little less during the hottest months, Fast Company reports. The researchers found that with a 12 per cent reduction in the baseline electricity demand, the level of harmful pollutants such as nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon dioxide can decline by up to 13 per cent each year. This would lead to lesser ambient particulate matter, preventing around 475 deaths.

Bhongir (Telangana), Jul 20 (ANI): A 13-year-old boy studying in class 8 allegedly committed suicide after losing the class leader election held recently at his school. The deceased has been identified as Charan and was found dead on the railway track at Ramannapet area on Friday. He went missing since Thursday evening. Narayana Reddy, DCP, Bhonghir said while speaking to ANI, "In the wee hours, we received a complaint from the parents of 13-year-old boy stating that he was missing since Thursday evening. Immediately, a missing case was registered and on Friday afternoon he was found dead on the railway track at Ramannapet area". "It is noticed that he was disturbed since last three days as he lost the class leadership elections in his school. He was studying in 8th standard and three days ago the school management had conducted elections in his class for class leader and he lost the elections against a girl student. He was disturbed following which he committed suicide," said Reddy. T

Darbhanga (Bihar), Jul 20 (ANI): Residents of Karjapatti village in Darbhanga district are stopping water from entering their village using bamboo stems and sand bags, on their own. Speaking to ANI, locals said, "There's utter negligence by the administration. Minister Prem Kumar had visited the area, he could see the situation but didn't inspect. New Delhi, Jul 20 (ANI): Stroke patients who come home from the hospital often feel unprepared and so are their caregivers, suggests a study. However, according to a study published in the journal 'Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes', when a home-based support network uses social work case managers and online resources, quality of life and confidence in managing one's health improves. The study began with a series of focus groups conducted before the clinical trial where researchers asked stroke patients and caregivers about what worried them most. According to Fritz, 72 per cent of stroke patients felt unprepared to go home, 91 per cent were worried about having another stroke and 82 per cent didn't fully understand their medications, such as when to take them and what dosage they needed.
