New Delhi, Jun 24 (ANI): Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Pratap Chandra Sarangi asked if those who do not accept 'Vande Mataram' have a right to live in the country during motion of thanks on President Ram Nath Kovind's address to the joint session of Parliament. He said, "People who say 'Bharat ke tukde tukde karne tak jung rahegi', and 'Pakistan zindabad, Afzal Guru zindabad', do they have the right to live in this country? People who do not accept 'Vande Mataram', do they have right to live in India?"
New Delhi, Jun 24 (ANI): Leader of opposition party in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury sparked a controversy by comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with 'gandi naali'. Responding to the motions of thanks moved by MoS Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Chowdhury said, "There is nothing wrong in praising someone. He is our Prime Minister as well. But it is wrong to compare Narendra Modi with Swami Vivekananda over his name." Over this, someone commented that at least we don't say Indira is India and India is Indira. Chowdhury responded to the taunt by saying, "Kahan maa ganga aur kahan gandhi naali."
New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on Monday, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on his remark in Lok Sabha said, "It is a misunderstanding, I didn't say 'naali', if PM is upset with it I'm sorry. I had no intention to hurt him. If PM is hurt I'll personally apologise to him. My Hindi is not good, by 'naali' I meant channel. A BJP MP compared Swami Vivekananda with PM due to a similarity in their names and put them on same pedestal, it hurts sentiments of Bengal. That's why I said 'you're provoking me, if you continue I'll say you're comparing Ganga with 'naali'. Earlier, Chowdhury in the Lok Sabha called PM Modi 'naali' when BJP MP compared him with Swami Vivekananda.
Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), Jun 24 (ANI): Mountaineers went missing 3 weeks ago near Nanda Devi in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh. Bodies of these mountaineers have been recovered and Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande, DM of Pithoragarh spoke on the rescue operation. While speaking to ANI, he said, "Bodies are kept at an advanced camp from which they'll be brought to Nanda Devi base camp and then to Pithoragarh. Concerned embassies will be informed after postmortem."
Saraikela Kharsawan (Jharkhand), Jun 24 (ANI): Family of Tabrez, who was beaten up by locals in Saraikela Kharsawan on suspicion of theft, and later died in a hospital, demanded capital punishment for the culprits. Tabrez was assaulted on suspicion of theft in Jamshedpur and beaten up for hours before being handed over to the police on June 18. He succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital on Saturday.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), Jun 24 (ANI): Jharkhand Minister CP Singh on Monday reacted on mob lynching case, where a man was attacked allegedly on a suspicion of theft in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur. Jharkhand Minister CP Singh called it a 'cut and paste' job of using whatever allegations fit such incidents. "Trend is prevalent these days to associate such incidents with BJP, RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal. It's a time of 'cut and paste', who fits what words where is difficult to say. Govt will conduct investigation. Trend to politicise such incidents wrong," said Singh. A man who was assaulted on suspicion of theft in Jamshedpur and beaten up for hours before being handed over to the police on June 18, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital on Saturday.
New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): Delhi police took action against the persons who brandished guns at a marriage function in national capital's Shahdara. Delhi Police Public Relation Officer Madhur Verma on Monday informed that the accused have been identified and case has been registered against them. He also assured to nab the accused soon. Two people fired gunshots during a marriage ceremony in Shahdara. Mobile footage clearly showed two persons first fired in open area and then brandished guns inside the premises where people were dancing.
Kolkata, Jun 24 (ANI): Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) (SUCI) members protested outside Raj Bhavan over deaths of children due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). Protestors were forcefully dragged and detained by police. Over hundred children have lost their lives due to AES in Bihar's Muzaffarpur in past one month.

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), June 24 (ANI): Special Namaz is being offered and fasts are being observed by numerous devotees in Madurai for rains on Monday. This comes in the wake of the heat wave causing acute water crisis in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu is reeling under acute water crisis stress for the past several months as Chennai's Porur lake, one of the main sources of water has reached its lowest level. The water scarcity has caused many schools and hotels to shut down and leaving many surviving on very little water. Mangaluru (Karnataka), Jun 24 (ANI): Locals celebrated 'Kesard Onji Dina' with great pomp and show in Karnataka's Mangaluru. It was organised by Sri Jnanashakti Subrahmanya Temple. 'Kesard Onji Dina' means 'a day in slushy water'. Children, youth and women participated in the event. It included running, folk dance and other activities.
Several women have performed prayers and ploughed the land for rain in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur today. Women of Gopalpur village in Kanpur performed special prayers for rain. They also sang traditional songs while performing prayers on this occasion. While speaking to ANI, one of the local said, "We are ploughing the land for rain, this custom exists since the time of Raja Janak. It is believed that if we plough the land Lord 'Indradev' (God of Rain) will be pleased and it will rain in the area."
Barmer (Rajasthan), June 24 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today reached the spot in Barmer where a 'pandaal' collapsed on June 23 claiming lives of 15 people. The CM had yesterday announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of deceased and Rs 2 lakh to the injured. While speaking on this incident, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot said, "We have ordered an inquiry into the incident. Action will be taken based on the inquiry report".

New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): Police have arrested a man in Delhi over allegedly murdering a 7-year-old girl today. The girl was visually impaired. The incident took place in Narela Industrial Area. Dead body of the girl was found at the backside of her home. Earlier, police have ruled out the possibility of sexual assault but said that the medical examination report is being awaited to confirm anything in this regard.
Gwalior (MP), Jun 24 (ANI): After Pakistan closed their airspace, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa said, "They (Pakistan) have closed their airspace that is their problem. Our economy is vibrant and air traffic is a very important part and you have noticed that Air Force has never stopped our civil air traffic. Only on 27 February (2019), we had stopped Srinagar airspace for 2-3 hours, rest of it we didn't allow tension with Pakistan to dictate our civil aviation because our economy is much bigger and much stronger as compared to theirs."
Gwalior (MP), Jun 24 (ANI): On being asked about Balakot air strike where Pakistani Air Force entered into Indian Territory, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa said, "Pakistan didn't come to our airspace. Our objective was to strike terror camps and their objective was to target our Army places. We achieved our military objective. None of them crossed the Line of Control into our territory".
