The Supreme Court today slammed the Uttar Pradesh government and Prayagraj development body for the ‘inhuman and illegal’ demolition of houses, calling it a ‘shock’ to its conscience. It ordered the authorities to pay ₹10 lakh compensation to each affected house owner within six weeks.
