After initial reports claimed singer Zubeen Garg died while scuba diving in Singapore, mass protests and public outcry in Assam prompted the Assam government to order a probe into his death on suspicion of foul play. Recently, Shyamkanu Mahanta, chief organiser of the North East India Festival, where the singer was supposed to participate, and Garg's manager Siddhartha Sharma, were arrested in connection with the case.
