New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): DRDO Chairman G Satheesh Reddy on May 04 said through PM Cares Fund, 500 oxygen plants will be established in various districts, at least one plant will be set up in each district in the coming three months. "Through PM Cares Fund we've ordered 380 plants from Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Trident Pneumatics Pvt. Ltd and 120 plants from CSIR industries. The first 5 plants will be established in Delhi of them two are being installed at AIIMSandRML Hospital," he said.

1 lakh inoculated so far in 18-44 age groups: Rajesh Tope

Mumbai, May 04 (ANI): Speaking on COVID-19 situation in Maharashtra, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope on May 04 said, "Few centres were closed yesterday due to doses' shortage. Got 9 lakh vials today, to last for 2-3 days. 1 lakh inoculated so far in 18-44 age groups. Order placed for 18.5 lakh vaccines (Covishield and Covaxin).

India, UK agreed to substantially strengthen defence and security engagement: MEA

New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual summit with his UK counterpart Boris Johnson on May 04. Speaking on the talks between the two leaders, MEA Joint Secretary (Europe West), Sandeep Chakraborty today said, "India and UK agreed to substantially strengthen defence and security engagement, including in the maritime domain, counter-terrorism and cyberspace. UK has also recently come up with integrated review on security, defence and foreign policy which identifies India as a key partner."

Speaking to mediapersons, Nadda said, "After the results, TMC goons went to the house of Haran Adhikari (BJP worker), vandalised it, threatened women and children, attacked them, and broke his wife's teeth. They then dragged Adhikari out of his house and beat him up. He died." "Mamata, what your party did after winning, speaks about your belief in democracy. TMC workers and leaders are saying that all these incidents on social media are fake. You've seen how Haran Adhikari's wife and son were crying. I request media to tell truth to the nation," he added. BJP Chief is on a two-day visit to the state.

UK agreed to expand partnership on vaccines: MEA

New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual summit with his UK counterpart Boris Johnson on May 04. Speaking on the talks between the two leaders, MEA Joint Secretary (Europe West), Sandeep Chakraborty today said, "The two leaders (PM Modi and UK PM) also discussed the global pandemic situation and ongoing cooperation in the fight against it. PM Modi thanked PM Johnson for prompt medical assistance provided UK, in wake of severe 2nd wave in India." "UK was one of the first to respond, sending critical medical equipment, like oxygen concentrators, cylinders, ventilators, amongst others. The successful vaccine partnership through Oxford/AstraZeneca-SII collaboration was also discussed," he added.

Odisha's JSPL plant supplies 100 tonnes of medical oxygen daily to other states

Angul (Odisha), May 04 (ANI): Amid the oxygen crisis in the country during the horrific second wave of pandemic, leading Steelmaker Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL), has been supplying Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) from its 6 MTPA mega steel complex at Odisha's Angul. The plant on a daily basis dispatches 100 tonnes of medical oxygen. Several states including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have received oxygen tankers from JSPL.

Kuwaith flight carrying oxygen cylinders, concentrators, ventilators arrives in India

New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): A special flight from Kuwaith, carrying medical supplies, landed in India after country's medical system collapsed amid the devastating second wave of pandemic. The medical supplies included 282 oxygen cylinders, 60 oxygen concentrators and ventilators. Several countries including US, Dubai, Germany, France and Uzbekistan have extended their support to India to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maharashtra registers 48,621 COVID cases, 567 deaths

New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): In last 24 hours, Maharashtra reported 48,621 fresh COVID cases, 567 deaths and 59,500 discharges. The total active cases in the state are now at 6,56,870. Case fatality rate of Maharashtra is 1.49%. Maharashtra's capital registered reports 2,662 new cases, 78 deaths and 5,746 recoveries reported today.

9 people died in Bengal since poll results announced: Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata, May 03 (ANI): West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh on May 03 claimed that nine people have died in the last 24 hours in violence since the results were announced for the state assembly. Ghosh further said several more were injured while hundreds of houses have been damaged, adding that there is an environment in West Bengal. The TMC returned to power in the state for third straight term despite a high voltage election campaign by the BJP. TMC won 213 of the 292 seats while BJP got 77 seats.

Vaccination for 18-44 years in MP to begin from May 5

COVID aid from Italy arrives in India

New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): A flight from Italy, carrying 1 oxygen generating plant and 20 ventilators arrived in India on May 03. Ambassador of Italy to India, Vincenzo De Luca said, "We're going to deliver an oxygen production machine to a hospital in Noida. It'll provide oxygen to 100 patients at one time and to thousands in the days to come. We are trying to collect other supplies including ventilators; there were ventilators in this flight as well. Italian companies operating in India are helping the Indian government in the production of oxygen."
