COVID-19: 10 prisoners test positive in Agra Central Jail

Agra (UP), May 13 (ANI): Amid COVID-19 lockdown when country is fighting to curb the spread of the dreadful virus, 10 jail prisoners tested positive for COVID-19 in Agra jail. A prisoner from Agra Central Jail, who tested positive for COVID-19, has died on May 9. After which jail authority sent samples of 27 people including 13 police officials and 14 prisoners from which 10 prisoners tested COVID-19 positive. The jail barracks, in which the infected prisoners were kept, have been emptied and other prisoners are shifted to different barracks keeping social distancing in mind. A prisoner from Agra Central Jail, who tested positive for COVID-19, has died. Agra is one of the districts of UP which has recorded most of the COVID-19 cases. UP has recorded 3664 confirmed cases and 82 deaths from COVID-19 till now. Lockdown has been extended till May 17.

All contractors get 6-month extension for completing govt projects: FM Sitharaman

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Delhi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 13 said, "In a major relief to contractors, all Central agencies to provide an extension of up to 6 months, without cost to contractor, to obligations like completion of work covering construction and goods and services contracts." These steps by the Finance Minister are a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's economic package for COVID-19.

Due date for filing ITR of 2019-20 extended to Nov 30: FM Sitharaman

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 13 announced the extension of due date for income tax return for the year 2019-2020 till November 30, in a bid to provide relief to the citizens amid the COVID-19 lockdown. "Due date for Income Tax returns for the year 2019-2020 now being extended from 31st July and 31 Oct to 30 November 2020," said Sitharaman.

Employees' Provident Fund support extended for 3 more months: FM Sitharaman

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 13 said Government of India decided to continue Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) support for business and workers for 3 more months providing a liquidity relief of Rs 2,500 crore. Earlier, EPF support was for March, April and May now it extended to June, July and August.

Rs 50,000 crore to be invested in MSMEs through Fund of Funds: FM Sitharaman

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Delhi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 13 said, "Rs 50,000 crore equity infusion for MSMEs through Fund of Funds; to be operated through a Mother Fund and few daughter funds; this will help to expand MSME size as well as capacity." "Government to provide stressed MSMEs with equity support; Government will facilitate the provision of Rs. 20,000 crore as subordinate debt," she added.

Husband, wife among 4 Naxals surrender before police in Chhattisgarh's Sukma

Sukma (Chhattisgarh), May 13 (ANI): As many as four Naxals on May 13 surrendered before police in Chhattisgarh's Sukma. Giving information, Sukma Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha said that out of four, two Naxals had big bounty on their heads. One of the Naxals named Raghu, had Rs five lakh bounty and was working as LGS (local guerilla squad) commander. His wife, who had bounty of Rs three lakh and was working as a LGS deputy commander, also surrendered as they both wanted to live normal lives.

TDS rates reduced by 25% till March 31, 2021: FM Sitharaman

The remote-controlled device is capable of disinfecting an area swiftly. It has been deployed at Tejasvini Hospital in Mangaluru. Rituals performed at Badrinath Temple ahead of opening portals

Badrinath (Uttarakhand), May 13 (ANI): The portals of Badrinath Temple will be opened on May 15. Rituals before opening of the portals were performed today (May 13) amid lockdown. According to local administration, total 27 people including the chief priest will be allowed at the Badrinath Temple when the portals of the temple will be opened. Pilgrims will be restricted from visiting the shrine during opening ceremony. Total number of COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand stands at 69 with 1 death so far.

South Central Railway opens 'barest minimum' reservation counters in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 13 (ANI): The South Central Railway (SCR) opened "barest minimum" reservation counters in Hyderabad. Earlier, Ministry of Railway announced that "barest minimum" reservation counters shall be opened at railway stations for 15 pairs of trains. Passengers delighted with 'good journey' on Howrah-New Delhi special train

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): Special train carrying passengers from Howrah arrived in New Delhi railway station on May 13 on 2nd day of resumption of train services. One of the passengers said, "The journey was good. Proper arrangements were made and social distancing was also followed". Indian Railways started services of limited passenger trains with guidelines amid COVID-19 lockdown. Services of 15 pairs of special air-conditioned trains have been restarted.

COVID-19: 2858 people recovered in Delhi so far, says Health Minister Satyendar Jain

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): Reviewing coronavirus situation in Delhi, Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed about the numbers in national capital. "346 people have been cured/discharged taking the total number of recovered cases to 2858," said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. Elephant owners in Kerala suffer due to lockdown

Vande Bharat Mission: Flight from Singapore carrying over 40 Indians arrives in Bengaluru
