Indian Navy to honour coronavirus warriors for their relentless fight against COVID-19

Thiruvananthapuram/Thane, May 02(ANI): Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy conducted rehearsals of the armed forces on May 02 to show gratitude to covid-19 warriors in Kerala and Mumbai. The armed forces will express their gratitude to all "corona warriors" by conducting fly-pasts, showering petals on hospitals treating COVID-19 patients and illuminating naval vessels on May 03. The thanks giving activities will start with laying of wreaths at the police memorial in Delhi and in several other cities to honour the police personnel deployed across the country to enforce lockdown. Western Naval Command will illuminate five naval ships from 7:30 pm to 11:59 pm at Gateway of India in Mumbai displaying banner like "India Salutes Corona Warriors"

Special train carrying migrant workers departs from Sabarmati for Agra

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), May 02(ANI): A special train carrying migrant workers left from Sabarmati in Ahmedabad for Agra in Uttar Pradesh amid coronavirus lockdown. 1200 migrant workers were sent to their home town through the train having a capacity of 2,400 people on May 02. Gujarat Home Minister, Pradipsinh Jadeja said, "The train will cover 900 km in 15-16 hours, the train has a capacity of 2400 people and 1200 migrant labourers are being sent to their home town today."

CM Khattar blames 3 factors responsible for increase in COVID-19 cases in Haryana

Chandigarh, May 02 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on May 2 blamed three factors for the increase of COVID-19 patients in the state. He said that the numbers of COVID-19 patients wouldn't have increased in Haryana, if Tablighi Jamaat, and pilgrims from Nanded Sahib incidents didn't happen. He also blamed people of Delhi, who frequently visited Haryana.

Amid lockdown, betel leaf farmers face losses in Lucknow

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 02 (ANI): The nationwide lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic has badly impacted betel leaf farmers of Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. A betel leaf farmers from Lucknow's Nigoha area, Aashish Chaurasiya said, "No one is thinking about betel leaf growers, we are facing trouble to earn our livelihood. Betel leaves are decaying in the field."The farmers are forced to dump the betel leaves as it doesn't have longer life, the nation is under lockdown since March 24 in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. The centre has extended the lockdown till May 17. The farmers urged government to give them some relief so that they can earn their livelihood.

Chennai artist paints earthen pots to spread awareness of COVID-19

Chennai, May 02 (ANI): Amid the time of the pandemic when nation is fighting a war with an invisible enemy, health workers and police have emerged as the frontline warriors. Countrymen are also participating in the war by staying at their homes during the lockdown. Some people are spreading awareness through their special talents. A Chennai based artist also spreading awareness by making paintings on earthen pots. The specialty of these paintings is, these paintings are specially painted to spread awareness about the pandemic. These paintings give message to people to use face masks and stay at their homes during the nationwide lockdown. Artist Joel Fertician hails from Chennai's MGR Nagar does art work on pots and bulbs. Fertician started painting on pots during the time of lockdown to spread awareness among people. Aligarh Nagar Nigam puts up Rangoli posters to spread awareness of COVID-19

AIIMS doctors thank Delhi Police by showering flower petals amid COVID-19 lockdown

New Delhi, May 02(ANI): AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) doctors on May 02 thanked Delhi Police for their services during the lockdown by showering flowers on them. North-East Delhi DCP Atul Kumar Thakur said that it is a wonderful gesture of reciprocal for it is frontline warriors supporting each other which is very important at this point of time. He said, "We went to AIIMS, and paid respect and expressed our gratefulness to the doctors and paramedical staff and to all those who have come forward in the fight against COVID-19. 2 terrorists gunned down by security forces in J and K's Pulwama

Indian Army sets up COVID-19 Health care centre

Budgam (J and K), May 02(ANI): The Indian Army along with civil administration of Srinagar have established a COVID-19 health care centre for the people of Kashmir. The health care centre has the capacity to hold 250 COVID-19 patients. The centre has been divided into two parts, one for suspected patients and the other half for confirmed cases of COVID-19. Out of 250 beds, which have been provided, 70-80 beds are dedicated for females. 14 beds have been set up in the ICU while 30 beds in high density unit for patients who need acute care. Srinagar Army official said, "No stones have been left unturned to provide maximum possible cooperation to the people of the Valley."

COVID-19: IAF, Indian Navy helicopters to shower flower petals over hospitals as tribute, informs Army PRO

New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): Indian Army PRO Colonel Aman Anand on May 2 informed about the events which will take place during the flypast to pay tribute to frontline COVID-19 warriors. He said that the nation will witness flypasts by fighter and transport aircraft of Indian Air Force at multiple locations. "These aircrafts will cover major towns starting from Srinagar to Thiruvananthapuram and from Dibrugarh to Kutch," said Anand. He added that the helicopters from IAF (Indian Air Force) and Indian Navy will fly over hospitals treating Corona patients in the cities and will shower petals as a tribute to the efforts and sacrifices of Corona warriors. Yesterday, CDS General Bipin Rawat informed that Indian Army with IAF and Indian Navy will pay tribute to fronline warriors of COVID-19 by a flypast during which the aircrafts will shower flower petals at some hospitals.

300 migrant labourers gather at Velachery checkpost in Chennai demanding assistance to return to their hometowns

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), May 02(ANI): Amid nationwide lockdown, more than 300 migrant labourers gathered at Velachery Checkpost and demanded help for their return to their home hometowns. These migrant labourers have been stranded for over a month. They demanded that the police should allow them to leave for home. They asked that if they are not allowed to travel by vehicles or any other public transport, then they should at least be allowed to walk. Police reached the spot and collected the basic information of all the migrants and assured them that they are looking into the matter and they will soon be sent to their native places.

COVID-19: 1st special train carrying 845 labourers started from Nashik will reach Lucknow tomorrow, informs Awanish Awasthi

Lucknow (UP), May 02 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish K Awasthi on May 2 held a press conference over states preparedness to fight COVID-19. During the press conference, he informed that the first special train for the state has started from Nashik today and around 845 labourers and workers have boarded. The train will reach Lucknow tomorrow. Recently, Centre has announced to run special trains for the migrant labourers and stranded students.

Govt school opens in Rajkot amid lockdown, investigation underway

Rajkot (Gujarat), May 02(ANI): Amid nationwide lockdown, a school in Rajkot's Pardi area was opened today and around 100 students attended the school to take their test results. Though it is officially announced that no school, college or any educational institute are allowed to open in the lockdown, yet Swami Vivekanand government school in Pardi village in Rajkot district was opened on May 2. The Rajkot collector and district development officer have asked for the inquiry. Rajkot Zilla Panchayat Samiti Chairman K D Padariya has assured that investigation is underway and the person responsible for it will be punished.

'26 sailors showing various COVID-19 related symptoms admitted at hospital': Indian Navy

New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): The Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar informed that total number of 38 COVID-19 positive cases reported at INS Angre in Mumbai so far. While talking to ANI, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar said, "12 navy officers have already been discharged from hospital while 26 are undergoing treatment. There have been no positive case on any of our warships and submarines."

Watch: 18 people found travelling in concrete mixer truck in Indore

Indore (MP), May 02 (ANI): At least 18 people were found travelling in the mixer tank of a concrete mixer truck by police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh amid coronavirus lockdown. Traffic DSP Umakant Chaudhary informed that these people were travelling from Maharashtra to Lucknow. He said, "They were travelling from Maharashtra to Lucknow. The truck has been sent to a police station and an FIR has been registered".

14 warships ready for evacuation of Indians from Gulf countries: Indian Navy

New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): The Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar informed that they have kept 14 warships ready for the evacuation of Indians from Gulf countries in the wake coronavirus pandemic. While talking to ANI, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar said, "We have kept 14 warships ready for this (evacuation from Gulf countries). Four of them are in the Western Naval Command, four in the Eastern Command and three in the Southern Command. We have a number of warships ready".
