People were seen wearing masks and following social distancing norms during the purchase of essentials items. Zero cases of COVID-19 have registered in Manipur. The nationwide lockdown imposed to combat COVID-19 will last till May 03, 2020.

Stay arrangements of people who work in Delhi should be made there: Haryana HM to Kejriwal

Ambala (Haryana), Apr 27 (ANI): Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij, on April 27 appealed to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to make staying arrangements of the Delhi people who work in Delhi and stay in Haryana, saying their daily movement increases the risk of COVID-19 spread. "Many who work in Delhi and stay in Haryana, are 'Corona-carriers'. I appeal to Delhi CM that stay arrangements of people who work in Delhi should be made in Delhi itself. They shouldn't be issued passes to travel to Haryana as this is increasing COVID-19 cases here," he said.

Watch: Delhi cops deploy 'corona men' to scare people

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): Delhi Police is taking every measure to maintain the lockdown peacefully and to spread awareness among people. Adding to the move, police deployed volunteers on roads donning corona helmets with PPE kits to scare people, who are roaming outside during lockdown. Delhi has recorded 2918 active cases and 54 deaths due to COVID-19 till now.

COVID-19: Wildlife dept issues advisory asking people to not to venture into forest

Srinagar (JandK), Apr 27 (ANI): The department of Wildlife Protection Jammu and Kashmir has issued an advisory asking people not to venture into forest areas in wake of COVID-19 pandemic. The advisory has been issued in view of COVID-19 case in animals. Wildlife department has sounded high alert in all wildlife areas advising people especially those living near forests to not venture into forest areas. The advisory has been issued after a tiger was tested positive for COVID-19 in New York. As people living in adjoining areas of Dachigam National Park are dealing with animal production activities including sheep farming are always need to visit forest areas. So traditionally and as per the requirement people both men and women visits forest areas to collect the fire wood grass for the animals including sheep, goats and cows since decades. But due to the COVID-19 threat atmosphere is not suitable for such activities.

COVID-19 patient commits suicide in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Apr 27 (ANI): A COVID-19 positive patient has committed suicide at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru on April 27. The patient was tested positive on April 24 and since then he was admitted in the hospital. "The COVID-19 positive patient was admitted in the hospital for the treatment. He jumped from the hospital today and committed suicide," said Dr. Rohini Katoch Sepat, DCP (South), Bengaluru.

COVID-19: People violate social distancing norms at Kolkata's red zone area

Kolkata, Apr 27 (ANI): Despite of government's appeal to maintain social distancing, people were seen violating the norms in Raja Bazaar area in Kolkata on April 27. People were seen buying essentials without following social distancing. Raja Bazaar is one of the red zone areas in Kolkata. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), West Bengal has 611 cases, including 105 cured or discharged and 18 deaths so far.

Punjab Police launch '#Main Bhi Harjeet' campaign to pay tribute to frontline warriors

Chandigarh, Apr 27 (ANI): Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta has launched a nationwide campaign named '#Main Bhi Harjeet' to pay tribute to the sacrifice of ASI Harjeeet Singh, whose hand was dismembered in an attack in Patiala on April 12. The DGP changed his name on his badge to 'Harjeet Singh' for a day. He said, "Harjeet Singh has become a symbol against attacks on police and other frontline workers". DGP Gupta has written to police chiefs of all states and Union Territories to unite and show solidarity with frontline warriors who have been attacked by people in different parts of the country. In support of this campaign, the police officers were seen wearing nameplates of Harjeet Singh.

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Chief Ministers of all states on April 27, via video conferencing on the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country. Today's meeting was held in the last week of nationwide lockdown. On March 24, the Prime Minister had announced a 21-day lockdown as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19. The lockdown was later extended till May 3.

COVID-19: Free ration distribution to marginalised in Rajouri

Equity indices surge on global cues, Reliance gains 2.9 pc

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices were in the positive zone during early hours on Monday backed by strong global cues as central banks readied for introducing more stimulus steps to help cushion the economic impact of coronavirus. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was up by 675 points or 2.15 per cent at 32,002 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 188 points or 2.06 per cent at 9,343. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty auto up by 2 per cent, pharma by 1.9 per cent and financial service by 1.8 per cent. Among stocks, index heavyweight Reliance Industries witnessed a gain of 2.93 per cent at Rs 1,458.55 per share.

Delhi's Hindu Rao Hospital resume services after nurse tested positive for COVID-19

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): The Hindu Rao Hospital in Delhi has resumed their services on April 27, after a nurse was tested positive for coronavirus last week. The hospital was temporarily shut for sanitisation. The services resumed include casualty and emergency wards including the flu clinic and the 3 OPDs (Gynae, Pediatrics, and Medicine) with restricted entry of patients and attendants from today.

Security checks continue at Delhi-Noida border

New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): Amid the last week of the extended nationwide lockdown police officials are checking vehicles in every part of the national capital to maintain the lockdown and to curb the spread of COVID-19. Security is being checked at Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) on April 27. Noida-Delhi border was sealed on April 21 and people who perform essential services are allowed to commute from UP border to Delhi. More than 1800 coronavirus positive cases have been recorded in UP while 2625 confirmed cases and 54 deaths have been recorded in Delhi due to COVID-19 till now.
