Uttarakhand man sends out wedding invite to 1,500 guests on inland letters

Chamoli (Uttarkhand), Mar 10 (ANI): Adopting a unique way for the wedding invitation card, a man has invited around 1,500 guests to his son's wedding via inland letters in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Sundaramani Mandoli, a resident of Fali village in Chamoli has printed the wedding card of her son Manish who is posted with Indian Army on the inland letter card. The wedding is due on March 12. "This inland letters were prevalent in earlier times. SO I got this idea to prit the wedding card of my son on these letters. I got hold of these cards with great difficulty" he told ANI. However, he claimed that due to the inland letter cards not being in circulation over time, he had to struggle a lot to collect these cards.

2 dead as hospital wall collapses in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar

New Delhi, Mar 10 (ANI): A wall of Model Eye Hospital in Lajpat Nagar collapsed on late evening of March 09. 2 people are dead and at least 1 person is injured. More details are awaited. DCP South East, RP Meena said, "Out staff was informed about the wall collapse around 2:30 in the afternoon. 1 person died on the spot while another person died in the hospital. Another man is seriously injured."

Husband of Hyderabad woman requests Centre to rescue her from Jeddah

Hyderabad, Mar 10 (ANI): In yet another case of human trafficking, the husband of a woman who was trafficked to Saudi Arabia on pretext of job, has requested the Government of India to rescue her. Laxmaiah, a resident of Hyderabad claimed that his wife Shanta was human trafficked to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia by a local agent in December 2018, who promised to give her job in Dubai. He said, "I request the Indian government to rescue my wife."

COVID-19: Delhi Metro coaches and DTC buses are being sanitised, says CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Mar 09 (ANI): Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that Delhi Metro coaches and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses are being sanitised to prevent spread of deadly coronavirus. Adding to it, he said healthy people are not required to wear face-masks. Meanwhile, total number of cases of deadly virus in India has risen to 42 till now.

Collect cess effectively from the builders: CM Gehlot to Labour Department

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Mar 09 (ANI): Cess should be effectively collected from the builders for the safety of the construction workers and for the welfare schemes, to ensure the availability of funds for various welfare schemes in the interest of the workers. Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot directed the same in the review meeting of Labour Department. He also instructed the officials to issue advisory for industries like construction, mining and sculpture for effective prevention of silicosis disease.CM Gehlot said that all the workers engaged in construction and other works should be registered and marked as beneficiaries of the schemes. He directed to form a 'Working Group' to review various schemes launched by the state government for the welfare of the workers which would suggest to make these schemes more effective and better implementation. Coronavirus cases in India reach 42: Special Health Secretary

New Delhi, Mar 09 (ANI): Union Health Ministry Special Secretary, Sanjeeva Kumar on Monday confirmed that 42 cases of novel coronavirus infection have been reported in India so far. Three new cases of COVID-19 have been reported since March 08- one each from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu. Official also informed that no COVID-19 related death has been reported yet.

Yes Bank crisis: 'We have sought notice from RBI', says Anurag Thakur

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), March 09 (ANI): Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur commented on Yes Bank crisis and informed that look out notice has been issued on founder Rana Kapoor's international travel. Delhi Police arrests couple with links to Islamic State

New Delhi, March 09 (ANI): Special cell of Delhi Police arrested a couple with alleged links to Khorasan module of the Islamic State (IS) from Jamia Nagar area of national capital. They have been identified as Jahanjeb Sami and his wife was identified as Hina Bashir Beg. The couple had been under surveillance for the past several months. The police alleged that the couple were planning to carry out suicide attacks in national capital. A case has been registered against them and further interrogation is underway.

Commuters express delight over decrease in fuel prices

Shopian encounter: Identification process of killed terrorists underway, says IG Kashmir

Sensex dives over 1900 points as oil prices plunge amid Covid-19 fears

New Delhi, Mar 09 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices continued to bleed red on March 09 following a slide in global peers as fears intensified over the spread of coronavirus outbreak and oil prices plunged. Oil fell by the most since 1991 after Saudi Arabia started a price war with Russia by slashing its selling prices amid falling demand because of the virus outbreak. At the closing bell, the BSE SandP Sensex was down by 1,942 points or 5.17 per cent to 35,635 while the Nifty 50 plunged by 538 points or 4.9 per cent at 10,451. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty metal down by 7.7 per cent, PSU bank by 6 per cent, IT by 5 per cent and realty by 4.2 per cent. Among stocks, ONGC drifted lower by almost 16 per cent to Rs 74.35 per share while metal and mining major Vedanta fell by over 15 per cent to Rs 94.10.

'All Women' post office opens in Karnataka's Kalaburagi

Equity indices fall by 6 pc as COVID-19 fears spread, oil prices plunge

New Delhi, Mar 09 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices came under the bearish grip during the afternoon on Monday as risk sentiment worsened in global stocks due to spreading coronavirus (COVID-19) and a sharp plunge in oil prices. Oil fell by the most since 1991 after Saudi Arabia started a price war with Russia by slashing its selling prices amid falling demand because of the virus outbreak. At 1:15 pm, the BSE SandP Sensex was down by 2,345 points or 6.24 per cent to 35,231 while the Nifty 50 plunged by 632 points or 5.75 per cent at 10,357. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty metal down by 6.7 per cent, IT by 4.8 per cent, PSU bank by 4.6 per cent, and realty by 4.1 per cent.

Congress hits out at centre over stock market's 'biggest' crash

New Delhi, Mar 09 (ANI): Congress hit out at the central government over the downfall of stock market. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that people are losing their money and jobs because of the poor economic policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government. "Today Indian stock market and economy is hit by the biggest crash in the history. The stock market cut down by 2419 points, and investors faced loss of over Rs 6 lakh crore. And Finance Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are not uttering a word on this matter." The Indian stock market marked one of the biggest crashes in Sensex history on March 09 after it dived 1942 points at the closing bell.
