Kevadia (Gujarat), Mar 01 (ANI): Advisor to J-K Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu Farooq Khan addressed a gathering at the India Ideas Conclave 2020. While speaking on the demographical history of Jammu and Kashmir, he claimed that that it was a '100% Hindu state.' "Very few among us Indians know that Kashmir was a 100 per cent Hindu state, those who go there must visit the Kashmir museum and see what is there, which gives you a clear picture of the ancient Kashmir history," said Khan. India Ideas Conclave is being organised by India Foundation from February 28 to March 1 on the theme- "New India: Turning to Roots, Rising to Heights."

Afghanistan's Taliban, US sign peace agreement in Qatar's Doha

Doha (Qatar), Feb 27 (ANI): United States of America and Taliban signed 'agreement for bringing peace to Afghanistan' on February 29 in Qatar's Doha. The deal will pave the way for US to gradually withdraw its troops from Afghanistan. While addressing the gathering during Afghan-US joint declaration, United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo said, "This effort only became real when the Taliban showed interest in pursuing real peace and ending their relationship with Al-Qaeda and other foreign terrorist groups. Agreement that we will sign today is the true test of this effort." "We will closely watch Taliban for their compliance with their commitments and calibrate the pace of our withdrawal with their actions. This is how we will ensure that Afghanistan never again serves as a base for international terrorists," Mike Pompeo further said.

Wife of Dr Kafeel writes letter to HC Chief Justice requesting protection to husband

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 29 (ANI): Wife of Dr Kafeel Khan, Shabista Khan, has written a letter to Chief Justice of High Court requesting security to her husband. She said, "We went to meet him in Mathura Jail. He told that when he went there after being arrested, he wasn't given food for 5 days straight. The barrack he is staying in, is very small and around 100-150 people are staying in it. His life might be in danger there." Khan was arrested by UP STF on January 29 for making instigating remarks during protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Chennai fire: We isolated the place, no injuries till now, says Fire official

Chennai, Feb 29 (ANI): No injuries reported to anybody in massive fire that engulfed a pharmaceutical base in Madhavaram area of Chennai. The Additional Director of Fire and Rescue Service of Tamil Nadu, Sylendra Babu told ANI, "More than 500 firemen and 26 fire tenders are on spot right now, we have isolated the place, all the public were evacuated, no injuries to anybody till now, however it can cause pollution." The massive fire broke out at pharmaceutical base in Madhavaram area of Chennai on February 29. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Sense of insecurity prevailed among people before abrogation of Article 370: Ladakh MP

Kevadia (Gujarat), Feb 29 (ANI): Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal spoke at India Ideas Conclave, Gujarat on February 29. Namgyal said that there was a sense of insecurity among people of Ladakh before abrogation of Article 370. He said, "On one side of Ladakh was radical Islam and on another communist China both 'close friends' of India. In the midst of that Article 370 wasn't allowing us to join mainstream, there was a sense of insecurity and discrimination. Only 2 Percent of J-K's budget was allotted for development of Ladakh." He further added, "Now after the abrogation of Article 370 and formation of the new Union Territory, there are talks of Rs 6,000 crores for development. Now, the challenge before us is to show how honest the people of Ladakh are."

Minor girl's braid chopped off by family for speaking to boy over phone in MP

Alirajpur (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 29 (ANI): In a cruel act, a minor girl was beaten up and chopped off braid by its own family members in Sondwa area of Alirajpur. The girl was beaten by the four family members on suspicion that she had been speaking to a boy over phone. The police has registered an FIR and arrested three accused in the matter. While speaking to ANI, a police official said, "FIR has been registered. Three accused arrested".

Nearly Rs 12,000 cr deposited in accounts of more than 2 cr farmers in UP: PM Modi

Chitrakoot (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone of Bundelkhand Expressway in Chitrakoot on February 29. PM Modi also launched Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) all over the country. Addressing the public gathering, PM said, "Nearly Rs 12,000 crores have been deposited in the accounts of more than 2 crore farmer families of UP, including Chitrakoot. You can imagine, Rs 50,000 crores in just one year (all over India), that too directly in the bank accounts, without middlemen and discrimination." The 296-kilometre long expressway will provide a four-lane access-controlled route in UP.

No incidents of violence reported since Feb 25: Joint CP on Delhi violence

New Delhi, Feb 29 (ANI): Delhi's Joint Commissioner of Police, Alok Kumar said that relaxation has been given in Section 144 from 10 am to 2 pm in areas of North-East Delhi that were affected by violence earlier this week. Alok Kumar said, "Incidents of violence have not been reported since evening of February 25. We have given relaxation in Section 144 from 10 am to 2pm today, as situation is under control. We will monitor further." 42 people have lost lives and over 200 are injured in the deadly violence in national capital.

Watch: Pigeons enter boarded GoAir flight at Ahmedabad airport

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Feb 29 (ANI): Two pigeons were spotted inside a GoAir flight on February 28. The incident took place at Ahmedabad Airport while passengers were boarding. The birds were shooed away by crew and the flight took off on time. New Delhi, Feb 29 (ANI): A team of Border Security Force today visited the house of BSF constable Mohammad Anees. His house in Khajuri Khas area was set on fire during Delhi violence. DIG (Headquarters) Pushpendra Rathore said, "He is currently posted in Odisha and soon will be transferred to Delhi." Pushpendra Rathore, BSF Deputy Inspector General (Headquarters), said, "BSF engineers have come with us. They will repair the house of constable Mohammad Anees. He said, "All of us want peace and harmony to prevail in Delhi and the affected people need to be provided all possible help. However, some students in our campus gave an open call to the outsiders to come and stay in JNU campus. These are the same students who earlier criticised entry of outsiders."
