A JCB machine is cleaning and clearing roads in Shiv Vihar area of Karawal Nagar in Delhi on February 29. They are collecting stones and debris which were pelted by mob during violence in Delhi's Northeast area. On the other side, several children were seen playing cricket in the Khajuri Khas area of national capital indicating return of normalcy in the region.

New Delhi, Feb 29 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on February 28 permitted prosecution of Left leader Kanhaiya Kumar in a long-pending sedition case. While speaking to ANI in the national capital, the national spokesperson of AAP, Raghav Chadha said, "The law department of government of Delhi after conducting due diligence in the matter gave their opinion to the home department of Delhi and also given its clearance. The government of Delhi as a matter of principal and policy has not stopped any prosecution sanction of anybody in the last five years." "Cases on all AAP MLAs were filed and the regular process of law was followed by courts. We fundamentally believe that the government is not the agency or the authority that should be deciding on the merits of these matters," he added.
New Delhi, Feb 29 (ANI): The death toll from coronavirus in China has mounted to 2,835, officials said on Saturday. The number of confirmed cases has increased to 79,251, Sputnik quoted state health committee as saying. "The state health committee received from 31 provinces (areas, cities of central subordination) information about 79,251 confirmed cases of infection with the new type of coronavirus, including 37,414 people who are currently sick (7,664 are in serious condition), 39,002 people were discharged from hospitals, 2,835 died," the committee said. Coronavirus has spread to more than 45 other countries including the US, UK, Singapore, Italy, France, Russia, Spain and India. The World Health Organisation has declared the outbreak an international health emergency and said the global risk level remains high.

They were taken to the Rampur court for hearing in forgery case. Azam Khan said, "They are treating me just like a terrorist." The case is registered against them for allegedly having two birth certificates, two pan cards and two passports.
Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 29 (ANI): Clashes erupted between Khasi Students' Union (KSU) members and non-tribals over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Shillong which led to imposition of curfew and internet ban in the capital city of Meghalaya. While speaking to ANI, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, "This is a sensitive situation and I have called an emergency meeting with Additional Chief Secretary Home, DGP, Home Minister and other officials of the state." "We have taken decision to immediately impose curfew in Shillong which starts at 10:00 pm in night and we will see how situation goes and if necessary then will further extend it as initially it is just for 10-12 hours," he added. "The internet on the mobile phones will also be temporarily suspended," CM Sangma further stated.
Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 29 (ANI): A verbal spat occurred between Congress leaders and mining officer in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol. The quarrel occurred after Mining Minister of Madhya Pradesh Pradeep Jaiswal pointed out the issue of illegal coal mining and negligence of mining officer towards it. Mumbai, Feb 29 (ANI): A farewell ceremony was organised for Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Barve on February 29. Barve was to retire on August 31, 2019, but he was twice given three-month extensions owing to the state polls. A decision about the new police commissioner is likely to be taken soon when Barve's extension comes to an end. Barve had taken over as the commissioner of Mumbai city on February 28, 2019 and was granted two extensions in August and November.
New Delhi, Feb 29 (ANI): Normalcy has gradually started to return in parts of Northeast Delhi which gripped by communal clashes for over four days. Locals started to go back to their daily routine. Shops have opened, vehicles started to run on the roads as well. Police force remained deployed in the violence-affected Northeast Delhi to keep an eye on the situation. No fresh violence was reported. One of the locals told ANI, "Situation is better now. People are going to their work. Shops have started to open. The atmosphere is good here now." Few days ago, anti and pro CAA groups clashed in parts of Northeast Delhi, which resulted in major loss of lives and properties. At least 42 people lost their lives in the violence.

While speaking to mediapersons in Jodhpur, Pilot said, "We have taken the atrocities against Dalits seriously, it is shameful and I condemn such incidents. We'll take action against those involved, if there are shortcomings in our administration and governance then we should address it." Further, he also addressed the issue of corruption. He said, "I feel, its high time now we should take action to remove corruption from its roots."
Ranchi (Jharkhand), Feb 29 (ANI): The Delhi Government on Friday gave a go-ahead to prosecute former JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar and two others involved in the JNU Sedition case. Speaking on this CPI leader Kanhiya Kumar said that this matter was delayed for the political benefit. "The charge-sheet was filed for the first time when I was about to contest the election and now elections are going to be held in Bihar again. There is NDA govt in Bihar, the state govt has passed a resolution in the assembly against NRC-NPR. It is clear that this matter was created and delayed for political benefit. I want a speedy trial in a fast-track court so that the entire country gets to know how a law like Sedition is being misused," said Kanhiya Kumar on charge-sheet that has been filed against him.
