New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Amid violence in Delhi where people are thrashing and murdering each other, some people have emerged as sheer example of humanity. The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee on February 28 distributed food to people in Shiv Vihar area in North-East Delhi which witnessed violence in recent days. This act by the members of DSGMC is an example of communal harmony as irrespective of asking anybody's cast and creed they are providing food to the needy. At least 42 people, including a police head constable, died while around 200 people sustained serious injuries in the violence that raged for three days in parts of the national capital. Two Special Investigation Teams (SITs) have been constituted under the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, to investigate the violence.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal interacted with locals in Maujpur area of North-East Delhi on February 28. The Lieutenant Governor said, "I have come here to see myself how things are on ground."At least 42 people lost their lives in violence in North-East Delhi area. The violence broke out between two groups; pro - Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and anti- CAA, on Sunday (February 23) in the national capital.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Indian Air Force Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal, Harjit Singh Arora said that Balakot air strike was very clear and unambiguous message that we'll no longer tolerate terrorism. While talking on Pakistan's nuclear threat to India, Vice Chief Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora said, "Pakistan can keep talking about nuclear retaliation and its capability. We also possess a similar capability. As far as their terror factories are concerned, they are no longer safe anywhere across the border. We have the will, capability and the political support to go across and strike them at their roots." On February 26, 2019, Indian Air Force's Mirage-2000 fighter jets took off from airbases across India. The Indian Air Force jets crossed the LoC in Jammu Kashmir and bombed JeM terror camps in Balakot with precision-guided missiles.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) SN Shrivastava has been given the additional charge of the post of Commissioner of Police."With the approval of the competent authority, SN Shrivastava, presently posted with Delhi Police, as Special Commissioner of Police, is hereby given the additional charge of the post of the Commissioner of Police, Delhi w.e.f. 01.03.2020 and until further orders," read an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The senior Indian Police Service officer was recently appointed as the Special Commissioner (Law and Order) of Delhi Police. Earlier, Srivastava headed the elite Special Cell of Delhi Police. The directive comes close on the heels of the national capital witnessing violence in parts of North-East district. At least, 38 people were killed and 200 people were seriously injured in the violence.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): After four days of violence in the national capital, Friday namaz has been offered peacefully by the Muslim community in Seelampur, Loha Mandi and Jama Masjid on February 28. Residents offered the namaz and prayed for peace and tranquility in Delhi. New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): A team of Delhi Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) collected evidences from Chand Bagh area of the national capital on February 28. They have collected several evidences from the roads. FSL team also visited municipal councillor Tahir Hussain's factory in Chand Bagh area. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suspended him from its primary membership on February 27. On the other side, a team of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) is cleaning roads in Kabir Nagar area of Babarpur ahead of Friday prayers. They are collecting stones, which were pelted by mob during violence.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Special Commissioner (Law and Order) of Delhi Police SN Shrivastava visited Seelampur area of Delhi on February 28. "No violence has been reported in last 60 hours. We have arranged everything properly for the Friday prayers. Our team worked really well to bring out the normalcy and after their interaction, we got to know that people want peace," said Special Commissioner (Law and Order). On action against Municipal Councillor Tahir Hussain, SN Shrivastava said, "We are trying to bring every culprit to justice and we are working on it." No violence is reported in the area as of now.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): On being asked about the BJP's stand on the statements made by its leaders Parvesh Verma and Kapil Mishra, Senior BJP leader and Union Minister of Law and Justice, RS Prasad on Friday said that, "We have clarified our position very clearly and we do not approve these statements."
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): The death toll from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in mainland China mounted to 2,788 on Friday, officials said. The number of confirmed cases has increased to 78,824, the state health committee said. "The state health committee received from 31 provinces (areas, cities of central subordination) information about 78,824 confirmed cases of infection with the new type of coronavirus, including 39,919 people who are currently sick (7,952 are in serious condition), 36,117 people were discharged from hospitals, 2,788 died," the committee said.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): The Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police Dr OP Mishra visited Chand Bagh area in the national capital on February 28. He also flag marched with other cops keeping in mind the law and order situation of the violence-affected areas. While speaking to ANI, Dr OP Mishra said, "The opening of shops is a sign of normalcy. This process of normalisation in the area started on February 27. Our focus is to assure that all the citizens residing here, must start their lives in a normal manner." "People here must revive their 'Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb,' which got some kind of dent. We have held discussions with Aman Committee here, made elaborate arrangements in view of all devotees, who will go to offer prayers to mosques today," he added.
New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma arrived at the office of DCP North East district on February 28. After meeting, she said, "Agenda was to see how many women were affected. Three women got hurt but no women were murdered or raped, which I read in some of the tweets. We are inspecting on it." Then, Rekha Sharma, along with 2 members, visited the Jafrabad area to meet the women here and to inspect their condition.
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Feb 28 (ANI): BJP National President JP Nadda met former Himachal Pradesh chief minister and Congress party veteran leader Virbhadra Singh in Shimla on February 28. Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 28 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests, the Governor of Meghalaya Tathagata Roy said, "A lot of tourism facilities and homestays are going vacant. I have spoken to tour operators, who said tourism has got a hit. CAA refers to conferring citizenship on people, who had come from another country before 2014. If you put restrictions on Indian citizens from other states from entering into Meghalaya and make it difficult for them to come then it is not very difficult to guess what the outcome is going to be." "It is for the elected government to decide this," he added.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Speaking at the event in Delhi, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria on Friday said that in air engagement, especially in a deeply contested area, it is important to have a weapons edge. He said, "We had an edge over Pakistan Air Force in terms of Beyond Visual Range Missile capability at the time of Kargil. We allowed that to slip and thereafter it took a decade and half in our struggle to acquisition process to be able to get better capability." "It (better capability) will soon materialize with induction of Rafale. In air engagement, especially in a deeply contested area, it is important to have a weapons edge. Once we retain this edge, it is important that we don't allow to slip back this edge," he added.
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria attended "Centre for Air Power Studies Seminar" in Delhi on Feb 28. Speaking at the event, Bhadauria remembered important aspects of "Balakot airstrikes" and said, "IAF successfully struck target chosen. Pakistan Air Force responded 30 hrs later with a large package of aircraft under Operation Swift Retort, and IAF ensured that they weren't able to hit targets. They were in a hurry to disengage. They were doing it for their domestic audience." Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat were also present at the event.
Patna (Bihar), Feb 28 (ANI): A seventh standard girl student was allegedly abducted and gang-raped in Bihar's Patna on February 27. The incident took place in Patrakar Nagar Police Station limits of Patna. While speaking to media, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Patna, Pramod Kumar said, "One person has been arrested. He will be produced before court tomorrow."
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Equity indices crumbled during early hours on Friday as global share prices headed for the worst week since the world financial crisis and investors readied for the coronavirus to become a pandemic. At 10 am, the BSE S-P Sensex was down by 1,140 points or 2.87 per cent to 38,605 while the Nifty 50 dipped by 353 points or 3.03 per cent at 11,280. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty metal down by 4.6 per cent, realty by 3.89 per cent, IT by 3.36 per cent and pharma by 2.32 per cent.

General Rawat said, "If we have to be prepared for the tasks assigned to us then it's important we maintain credible deterrence at land, air and sea at all times. Mumbai, Feb 28 (ANI): Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik said that the Government is trying to save those who gave hate speeches. Nawab Malik said, "The way High Court has ordered to action against those who gave hate speeches. They questioned Aam Aadmi Party's leaders and case is registered against them and it is good. But when will the government register case against Anurag Thakur and Kapil Mishra. Government is trying to save those who gave hate speeches. It will not be tolerated. The judge of Supreme Court, who tried to take a hard stand, was sent to Punjab. Hence, the question raises that why the government took such decision hurriedly." Further on Bhima Koregaon case, Malik said, "Maharashtra Government has decided to withdraw the non-serious charges."
New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Security personnel remained deployed in Delhi's Khajoori Khaas and Dayalpur areas on February 28. These areas were one of those majorly violence-affected parts of North-East Delhi. No violence was reported as of now in North-East Delhi. At least 38 have been reported dead so far in Delhi violence. Few days ago, anti and pro CAA groups clashed in parts of North-East Delhi, which resulted in major loss of lives and properties.
