New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): COVID infections are breaking all records, cases continue to surge in India as the country reported 81,466 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours. Country's total COVID caseload stood at 1,23,03,131. Around 50,356 patients were discharged and the recovery tally mounted to 1,15,25,039. 469 deaths were reported due to the virus in last 24 hours, which are highest in the last 5 months. According to Indian Council of Medical Research total of 24,59,12,587 samples have been tested for COVID-19. Union Health Ministry reported a total of 6,87,89,138 vaccinations have been done till date.
New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): Revenue and Department of Economic Affairs Secretary Tarun Bajaj on bringing petroleum products under GST said that this move involves interest of both state and centre. Tarun Bajaj said, "Till we get both parties together and bring a solution, we can't bring them under GST. It'll take some time, but with growth in the economy, the issue will be sorted out." Further citing International Monetary Fund, Bajaj said that country's growth rate will be between 11-11.5%. He said, "It also has to do with low base effect, hence economy will grow. World Bank has said that our growth rate will be between 7.5%-12%. We expect a better growth rate this year."
Bengaluru, Apr 02 (ANI): The Corps of Military Police (CPM), Neelsandra witnessed the Basic Military and Advanced Provost Training that was given to the first-ever batch of women soldiers of the Indian Army. It included training in firing at the Iblur Firing Range in Bengaluru. The Corps of Military Police (CPM) has become the first in the Indian Army to recruit women in its rank and file. The training of the first batch of 99 Women Military Police had commenced on Jan 6, 2020. However, more than 4,000 women had applied for the CPM training in the recent rally held by Indian Army.

Lucknow (UP), Apr 01 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad informed about the current situation of the state in regard to COVID-19 virus. He said that the state has witnessed 2,600 new active cases in last 24 hours, whereas total active cases stands at 11,918. He informed that total 5,99,045 have been recovered till date. Maharashtra is the state which is contributing maximum number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): Director (Information and Publicity) of Railway Board RD Bajpai expressed his happiness over breakage of all previous records and said he is grateful that the railways had achieved highest ever loading breaking all the records. New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): As temperature is soaring, heat waves have gripped several states in the northern India. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heat wave conditions will further intensify in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. The temperature maximum temperature recorded in Delhi was 34 degree Celsius. People are facing difficulties due to extreme hot temperature. Speaking to ANI, the scientist (DGM) in Delhi's India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr Kuldeep Srivastava said, "For next three days, temperature will increase by 3 degrees and will reach around 37 degree Celsius by April 04".

Ganjkhwaja (Uttar Pradesh) April 1 (ANI): Trial run of electric loco between 100 km-long Ganjkhwaja in Uttar Pradesh to New Chiraila Pauthu Section under Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) has been done successfully by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL). DFCCIL will run freight trains at the maximum speed of 100 kmph as against the current maximum speed of 75 kmph on Indian Railways tracks. The 656 km route of Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) has already opened for freight trains operation. It is expected that with fully operational DFC, heavy haul train and double stack containers operations will also increase manifold.

The fresh fatalities are highest in almost five months. Total confirmed cases are 1,22,21,665 whereas the death toll has reached 1,62,927. As the pandemic is spreading its legs again, the active cases are continuously rising and have now reached 5,84,055. With 40,382 discharges, total recoveries are 1,14,74,683.
