New Delhi, Dec 30 (ANI): Temperature in Delhi dropped to several degrees in the national capital. Homeless people were left with no other option but to sleep on the footpath in Delhi's Turkman Gate area. Minimum temperature was recorded at 2.5 degrees Celsius in the national capital, on Dec 29. Cold waves intensified while fog canopied parts of Delhi.
Kolkata, Dec 30 (ANI): Amid the ongoing protests at various universities against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Sunday (December 29) said to not make educational institutes "hub of politics" which the Modi government will not tolerate. "If someone wants do politics, they can, but do not make educational institutes its hub. Students come to get education. They are the country's hope. Modi ji's government will not tolerate this," Pokhriyal said in Kolkata.
Kota (Rajasthan), Dec 30 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla distributed blankets to the needy ones at Kota Railway Station on Sunday (December 29). Birla distributed blankets to the homeless and the needy people who have nowhere to sleep but outside. The LS Speaker also interacted with the needy people and heard their grievances.
New Delhi, Dec 30 (ANI): India's biggest pet festival 'Pet Fed' was organised in the national capital over the weekend (Dec 28-29). 'Pet Fed', at NSIC Ground in Okhla, attracted huge rush of pet lovers who came to play with their fluffy friends. Over thousand pets of different breeds participated in the 'Pet Fed'. People who don't have pets also gathered to get a good dose of pet love. A special Police dog show was also organised with Delhi Police Crime Dog Squad.
Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Dec 29 (ANI): People who gathered near Ahmedabad University to protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) were detained. Police claimed that they didn't have permission for protest. LB Zala, ACP, Ahmedabad said, "People were detained as they did not have permission to protest, keeping law and order situation in mind." Nation-wide protest against CAA and NRC has gripped the country, claiming multiple lives in violence. Thousands have been detained in the country to maintain law and order situation.

Locals were draped in thick woolen layers to protect themselves against cold breeze. The minimum temperature in national capital was recorded at 3.4 C on December 29. On December 28, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a 'red' warning for Delhi as the cold weather conditions continued to persist.
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Dec 29 (ANI): Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammad Khan reacted over the incident which took place at Kannur University. Arif Mohammad Khan said, "I have taken oath to protect and defend the Constitution and law. A law which is passed by the parliament it is my duty and duty of any and every constitutional office it is his duty to defend it." The incident occurred during Governor's speech at the 80th inaugural session of the Indian History Congress held at the Kannur University when Irfan Habib and other delegates heckled and threatened the Governor while he was delivering a speech.
Guwahati (Assam), Dec 29 (ANI): People protested against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) through music and poetry recitation in Guwahati. Hundreds of artists participated in this peaceful musical event. "The situation of Assam is different from rest of the country. We have already given home to refugees who came till 1970. But if so many outsiders will come to our state, then what would happen to our language and culture?" asked a protester. Nation-wide protests against Citizenship law have rattled the country. Numerous lives have been lost during protests against CAA in the country.

Vishwesha Teertha passed away at Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt earlier on December 29. State Government has announced three-day state mourning.

He passed away at Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt earlier today (December 29). Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa attended the last ceremony. Pejawar Mutt pontiff Vishwesha Teertha Swami passed away while undergoing treatment for extensive pneumonia. State Government has announced three-day state mourning.

He said, "The death of new-born babies is both a matter of concern and sorrow for us. To ensure that such deaths do not take place in future, it is necessary to make arrangements for right treatment and medical equipments. Udupi (Karnataka), Dec 29 (ANI): Mortal remains of Pejavara Mutt Seer Vishwesha Teertha Swami were taken to Bengaluru. He passed away in Karnataka's Udupi on December 29. The information of his death was provided by Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat. He was admitted to Kasturba Hospital on Dec 20 and was on life support after his condition deteriorated.
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Dec 29 (ANI): After about 5 months of revocation of Article 370, the union territory has been returning to normalcy. Locals in Srinagar were seen on roads, carrying out their daily chores. Street markets were open and customers thronged to buy commodities. Public transport services have also resumed, bringing relief for commuters. Broadband internet services are being restored in Valley in phased manner according to BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav. Government has also provided internet facilitation centres to help students and youth to use internet services. Jammu and Kashmir has been facing internet blackout since August 05, ever since abrogation of Article 370. The state has been further bifurcated in 2 Union Territories, i.e. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

He said, "This issue is completely an internal matter of Indian government. Like any other border guarding force, BGB works to prevent illegal crossing and will continue to do so."
