Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh)/ Patna (Bihar), Nov 06 (ANI): Soaring prices of vegetables across nation are burning holes in household budgets. Prices have soared due to shortage of supply caused by heavy rains and floods. Onions are being sold at Rs 80 per kilogram in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal and are expected to go as high as Rs 120 per kilogram, and the situation is more or less same in the national capital. Situation is no different in Patna where onion prices have soared significantly following which many consumers have cut down their consumption. The government had earlier imposed a ban on the export of the onions to curb and bring down the prices in the domestic market.

Tourists, as well as locals, will have to pay 'swachhata tax' or 'photography tax' if they click a photograph or shoot video on the road in the village in North Goa. The imposition of the tax by the Parra village panchayat has been severely opposed by the locals who feel the fee may discourage tourists from visiting the iconic visit. The matter became a talking subject after a video purportedly showing a group of tourists being charged in Parra went viral on social media. The video was recorded by a local resident Paul Fernandes. Siliguri (West Bengal), Nov 06 (ANI): With an aim to spread awareness regarding the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" mission, a 38-year-old writer and brand developer named Rajiv Azad is out alone on 5,000 kilometers tour of the country on his bicycle. Azad, a resident of Ahmedabad, reached Bagdogra town, 28 kms from Siliguri city in West Bengal and said, "I embarked on the journey on September 8, 2019, and that I named the all India bicycle tour as the "Kiran India Cycle Expedition". During the journey, he will pass through 150 cities of 12 states, covering a distance of more than 5,000 km targeted in 60 days. He is also providing awareness classes in various schools, colleges and remote villages about his mission during his journey.
Karnal (Haryana), Nov 06 (ANI): The ancient statues were discovered during an excavation in a mining area in Haryana's Karnal district on November 05. The statues were discovered in Faridpur village of Karnal district. Statues belong to the era of Kushan Empire. Agartala (Tripura), Nov 06 (ANI): A mock drill was conducted at a school in Tripura's Agartala on November 05. It was held to create awareness among students about the steps to be taken during a natural disaster. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in association with the State Disaster Management Authorities of Tripura and West District administration conducted a multi-stage mega mock drill for a hypothetical earthquake on the occasion of International Day for Disaster Reduction. The event took place at Vivekananda stadium of Agartala. Various security forces including the National Disaster Reserve Force (NDRF), Tripura State Rifles, BSF, Assam Rifles, Red Cross Society and firefighter rushed to the premises and took control of the presumably arising situation. The mock drill was organized with the objective to see the coordination of different agencies in order to ensure organized and structural mechanism.

Mumbai, Nov 06 (ANI): A 10-foot-long Indian rock python was rescued in Mumbai on November 05. Python was rescued by the forest officials in Borivali area of Mumbai. Forest Department rushed to the spot after they received the information. Python was later released to its natural habitat.

Schools have opened today after an extended Diwali break due to air pollution. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data and System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), major pollutants in Delhi's Lodhi Road area were PM 2.5 at 279 and PM 10 at 250 both in 'poor' category. Higher value of AQI indicates greater level of air pollution and health concern. Residents have complained of a spike in respiratory problems, allergies and other health issues. Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 06 (ANI): A teacher was thrashed by a group of male students and their guardians in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on November 05. The incident took place at Balkaranpur's Adarsh Janta Inter College after the teacher scolded students when they allegedly misbehaved with female students.
