Instructed traffic police, DGP to implement odd-even in UP: State Environment Minister

Lucknow (UP), Nov 04 (ANI): The pollution has taken a toll on the environment in Delhi and neighbouring states. While talking about the implementation of odd-even scheme in Uttar Pradesh, Environment Minister Dara Singh Chauhan said that the instructions has been given to traffic police and DGP to implement the odd-even scheme. Now police department can tell us that from when it can be implemented".

Amit Shah inaugurates SCO Joint Exercise on urban earthquake rescue

New Delhi, Nov 04 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Joint Exercise on Urban Earthquake Search and Rescue-2019 in November 04. The inauguration ceremony was held at Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi's Janpath. The exercise was hosted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to rehearse disaster response mechanisms and share knowledge, experience and technology. The main focus of the joint exercise was to test the region's preparedness to activate intergovernmental interaction for an immediate response. "We are working in that matter from the last 1 year. India is in touch with SCO from very long time," Shah said at the event.

Tis Hazari Court incident: Lawyers from different states join protest

New Delhi/ Kanpur (UP)/ Coimbatore (TN), Nov 04 (ANI): In the latest development in the Tis Hazari Court incident, the lawyers from different states came in support of the lawyers of Tis Hazari Court. Lawyers from Kanpur to Coimbatore came on roads and protested against the Delhi Police. Lawyers from Kanpur city vandalised police van during their protest. Several vehicles were set ablaze during the scuffle. Building has also been damaged in premises of Tis Hazari Court. A police van was also set to fire. According to police officials, scuffle between police and lawyers was over parking. Recently, lawyers protested outside the Supreme Court, demanding the enforcement of Lawyers Protection Act in the wake of a clash that erupted between lawyers and police at Tis Hazari Court on November 02.

Watch: Policeman gets thrashed by protesting lawyer in Delhi's Saket

New Delhi, Nov 04 (ANI): After the violent clashes between lawyers and police officials at the Tis Hazari Court in Delhi on Nov 02, a video has surfaced showing one of the protesting lawyers thrashing a police official in the Saket area of the national capital. In the incident which was shot on mobile from a distance, a person dressed in civil attire could be seen slapping and abusing a policeman on his bike. Some lawyers and officials of Delhi Police got into a scuffle over parking issue in which around 20 people including both lawyers and policemen were injured.

Dushyant Chautala takes charge as Haryana Deputy CM

Chandigarh, Nov 04 (ANI): Dushyant Chautala took charge as a Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana on November 04 in Chandigarh. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar was also there to give him a warm welcome. Tis Hazari Court incident: SC lawyers protest at India Gate, demands enforcement of Lawyers Protection Act

New Delhi, Nov 04 (ANI): Lawyers of Supreme Court on November 04 also raised their voices against the Delhi Police over attack on lawyers at Tis Hazari Court. Lawyers demanded enforcement of Lawyers Protection Act and arrest of police officials who were indulged in the scuffle. Scuffle broke out between Delhi Police and lawyers at Tis Hazari Court on November 02. Several vehicles were set ablaze during the scuffle. Stubble burning continues in Ludhiana despite air quality in 'severe' category

Ludhiana (Punjab), Nov 04 (ANI): The stubble burning continued in Punjab's Ludhiana despite having massive level of air pollution in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). Even after state government's ban, farmers burnt crops in Ludhiana on November 04. Farmers continued burning stubble in Kotmana village of Ludhiana. Issue of stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana has become a major cause of air pollution not only for their states but also for Delhi-NCR region. On November 01, the Supreme Court-mandated Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) declared public health emergency in Delhi due to rising air pollution levels. Earlier, farmers who were identified for burning stubbles had been sent legal notices to stop the practice.

Delhi Police issues 'challan' to Vijay Goel for violating odd-even scheme

New Delhi, Nov 04 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Vijay Goel left from his house in an odd numbered car in order to protest against odd-even scheme in the national capital on November 04. Later, he has been issued a challan for violation of the odd-even scheme. The odd-even scheme is currently in operation in Delhi. In order to curb air pollution, the Arvind Kejriwal led-government has announced the implementation of the odd-even scheme from November 04-15. While speaking to media, Vijay Goel said, "This scheme is just a gimmick, they (Delhi Government) themselves say pollution is due to stubble burning and then how does this scheme help? I am ready to pay the fine for violation."

He said, "If Rajiv Gandhi had acted, a solution could have been found because political positions had not fortified on both sides, there was a possibility of give and take and a solution could have been acceptable." He further said, "Rajiv Gandhi went to extent of opening locks of Babri masjid and permitted 'shilaanyaas', the ceremony for laying the foundation stone of temple and that was done during his time as Prime Minsiter, therefore I have called him 2nd Kar Sevak of the movement, first was the District Magistrate who allowed all this to begin."

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Godbole dedicated his books to all the unsung heroes of home secretary who had toiled for weeks to gather complete secrecy of demolition. He said, "We had made a proposal to invoke Article 355, by which central forces could have been sent to Uttar Pradesh to protect the mosque, and then impose President's rule." He further said, "I have dedicated my book to all the unsung heroes of home secretary who had toiled for weeks to gather complete secrecy. The whole success of demolition plan was its secrecy." Godbole said, "We had made a huge contingency plan because state government was not going to be cooperative. Narasimha Rao (Prime Minister in 1992) was doubtful if he had powers under the constitution to impose President's rule in this situation."

They are doing their part and because of that a lot of improvement has happened. We will take further steps to improve the situation and to save the environment and to curb the pollution.
