Chandigarh, Oct 03 (ANI): A youth welfare association from Chandigarh has started a unique recycling project. In this project, they recycle used earthen lamps by collecting them a day after Diwali. They clean and paint these earthen lamps before selling them in markets. The association invests the earned money for education of needy children. While speaking to ANI, the founder of the association said, "We'll invest the money earned, in education of needy children."
Kolkata, Oct 03 (ANI): As the country is dip into the festivities of Durga Puja, different types of Goddess Durga idols can be seen across the country. People in Kolkata are celebrating one of their most glamorous and biggest festivals with full fervor. A goddess Durga idol has been made of around 50 kg gold. Around 250 workers, who worked in day and night, completed Durga idol of gold in 3 months. This is not the first time that the puja organisers have resorted to such an ostentatious display of jewellery. In 2017, they had draped goddess Durga in a gold saree. Last year, she was astride a silver chariot. While speaking to ANI, a puja community member said, "We just wanted to show the world and the country that machine can't make the idol of gold, only man can do it."
Jalgaon (Maharashtra), Oct 03 (ANI): On the occasion of 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, his great-grandson Tushar Gandhi on October 02 said that on Gandhi Jayanti everybody wants to claim a part of that legacy and I believe that everyone has the right to claim the legacy. He said, "Bapu belongs to the humanity in general and nobody has any proprietary ownership of that legacy. "Some people do it sincerely, some don't. Politics of all kind is insincere in their eulogy of Bapu and their show of aligning with him but I don't think anybody is fooled by that insincerity. New Delhi, Oct 03 (ANI): While deafness in early childhood leaves permanent changes in how sounds are processed in the brain, researchers found that even mild-to-moderate hearing loss have a similar impact. Researchers say that the findings may have implications for how babies are screened for hearing loss and how mild-to-moderate hearing loss in children is managed by healthcare providers. The structure and function of the auditory system, which processes sounds in the brain, develops throughout childhood in response to exposure to sounds. In profoundly deaf children, the auditory system undergoes a functional reorganisation, repurposing itself to respond more to visual stimuli, for example. However, the brain responses of older children with hearing loss were smaller than those of their normally hearing peers.
