Patna (Bihar), Sep 28 (ANI): Heavy rains continued to batter Patna as monsoon remains active in the region. Following heavy rainfall in the region, vehicles were seen wading through water-logged road at Dak Bunglow intersection in Patna. Conditions are going worse as floodwater has entered in residential areas.

Exchange of fire in J and K's Ramban after suspicious individuals tried to stop civil vehicle

Ramban (J and K), Sep 28 (ANI): On the morning of September 28, two suspicious individuals tried to stop a civil vehicle at Batote in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. The driver did not stop the vehicle and informed Army QRT (Quick Response Team). Following the incident, exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces. Security forces are further conducting investigation. While speaking to ANI, DIG CRPF PC Jha in Batote, Ramban said, "We have information that three men are present. Security forces are conducting an operation in the area."

Rajnath Singh commissions second Kalvari-class submarine INS Khanderi

Mumbai, Sep 28 (ANI): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commissioned the second Kalvari-class submarine INS Khanderi on September 28 in Mumbai. Khanderi is built at state-run Mazgaon Dock Limited and underwent rigorous sea trials for over two and a half years. Later, Singh also toured INS Khanderi and was accompanied by Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh.

World Tourism Day: Manipur's future lies in tourism sector, says CM Biren Singh

Noney (Manipur), Sep 28 (ANI): Locals in Manipur celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27. The event was organised by Tourism Department at Longmai Ground in Noney district. Chief Minister N Biren Singh was invited as the chief guest. Scores of people including school children, men and women clad in traditional attires stood in long lines on both sides of the road to welcome the Chief Minister and his team. Presentation of colourful cultural items was another highlight of the State level World Tourism Day celebration. Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that a world-class tourist destination would be developed in Noney district to attract tourists from all over the world to the world's tallest girder railway bridge (141 metres) being constructed by North East Frontier Railway across the valley of river Ijai.

Mumbai, Sep 28 (ANI): Pakistan should be wary of the recent additions to our naval capacity as with them we could deliver them a bigger blow, warned Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Mumbai. Singh on September 28 commissioned the second Kalvari-class Submarine INS Khanderi. While speaking at the ceremony, Defence Minister Singh said, "Pakistan should understand that today with strong resolve of our government and advancement in naval capacity with additions like INS Khanderi, we are capable of giving much bigger blow to it." He added, "I am very pleased to be present here on the occasion of the commissioning ceremony of INS Khanderi. The name Khanderi is inspired by the dreaded 'Sword Tooth Fish,'a deadly fish known to hunt whilst swimming close to the bottom of the ocean."

She said his threat of unleashing nuclear devastation qualifies as brinksmanship not statesmanship. "For someone who was once a cricketer and believed in the gentleman's game, today's speech bordered on crudeness of the variety that is reminiscent of the guns of Darra Adam Khel. Now that PM Imran Khan has invited UN observers to Pakistan to verify that there are no militant organisations in Pakistan the world will hold him to that promise," said First Secretary. UP farmers hold protest against Noida authority

Noida (UP), Sep 28 (ANI): Farmers from several villages took out a protest march against the Noida Authority. Hundreds of farmers protested against the anti-farmer policies of the authority. They are determined to go on an indefinite strike. Farmers have also complained of the Noida authority's move to demolish their constructions after declaring them illegal. Several farmer organisations of Noida and Greater Noida have come out in support of the protest march. "The farmers have taken out their protest march on several tractors which has caused a traffic jam. We have deployed our forces at the site of the demonstration," Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida said.

Uber adds new safety features to its app

New Delhi, Sep 28 (ANI): Uber announced a slew of new features to its cab-hailing app to ensure a safer ride for customers. The updated app now lets you choose to receive a four-digit PIN to verify your ride. Uber also said that it is working on new technology for a PIN-free verification using ultrasound waves, the official blog noted. Users can now also report a problem to Uber during a ride, instead of waiting for the trip to be over. A new option also lets one send a text message to emergency numbers with the cab details and location in supported regions. Uber has also improved the real-time ID check for its drivers as an additional layer of security. Bike lane alerts will be added by the end of October to tell riders when they are being dropped off near a bike lane.
