Excise Dept seizes cannabis worth Rs 1 crore in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Sep 09 (ANI): The Excise Department seized cannabis worth Rs 1 crore in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam on September 08. They seized 815 kg of cannabis from a truck in Narsipatnam town of Visakhapatnam. They have also arrested the truck driver in this case. The truck was registered in Odisha and as per the information the vehicle was coming from Odisha to Visakhapatnam. Probe is underway in this regard.

It helps in increasing meal satisfaction in obese adults, amongst other benefits. As part of the study published in the Journal of Nutrients, the team of researchers assessed the underlying physiological effects of including whole and half fresh Hass avocados on hunger, fullness, and how satisfied subjects felt over a six-hour period. Researchers evaluated these effects in 31 overweight and obese adults in a randomised three-arm crossover clinical trial. These dietary changes were also shown to limit insulin and blood glucose excursions, further reducing the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease by adding healthy fats and fibres into a regular daily diet. 8th edition of Ladakh Marathon concludes

Ladakh, Sep 09 (ANI): The 8th edition of Ladakh Marathon concluded on September 08, in Leh. It witnessed 5500 participants from 26 countries. The 8th edition of Ladakh Marathon was divided in two days event with world highest Marathon Khardongla Challenge (72Km) held on September 06, followed by events held in three categories of Full Marathon (42Km), Half Marathon (21Km) and Run of fun (7KM). It is the highest marathon in the world as it is held at over 11, 000 feet above the mean sea level.

One died, three injured after vehicles collide in Ahmednagar

Pune (Maharashtra), Sep 09 (ANI): A truck collided with a tempo traveller on Sep 08. The mishap took place near Supa village in Ahmednagar district on Pune-Ahmednagar Highway. One person died while three got injured. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospital. Later vehicles were cleared off-road with the help of crane.

President Kovind departs for state visits to Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia

New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind embarked on a three-nation visit on September 08. He was accompanied by the First Lady Savita Kovind. Ram Nath Kovind commenced on an 11-day visit to Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia. This is his first visit to a Nordic country- Iceland. He will also be the first Indian President to visit Slovenia.

New bug leaves android smartphones vulnerable to SMS phishing attacks: Check Point

New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): Android smartphones from leading manufacturers have a security flaw that leaves them vulnerable to advanced SMS phishing attacks, Check Point Research has revealed. The security flaw in Samsung, Huawei, LG, and other Android-based smartphones which use over-the-air (OTA) provisioning, allows hackers to bypass authentication and pose as network operators to send deceptive message to users, the official release notes. The message tricks users into accepting malicious settings that could route their Internet traffic through a proxy server owned by hackers. Certain Samsung phones were found to be the most vulnerable to the phishing attack. Samsung and LG have issued a fix for the bug, Huawei will be including the fix in its next generation of Mate series or P series smartphones.

Fire breaks out in computer sales company in Madurai

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Sep 09 (ANI): A massive fire broke out in a private computer sales company on September 09. The mishap took place at North Veli Street in Madurai. 10 fire tenders are at the spot to douse the flame. No casualties have been reported so far. Cause of the fire is yet to be ascertain, further details are awaited.

Complex Chandrayaan-2 mission gone close to 99% success: DRDO Chairman

New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation said that the mission was 99% success. He also said Prime Minister's gesture was a great morale booster for scientists. While speaking to ANI, he said, "I won't accept it is setback, it is a major complex nmission which has gone close 99% success. I consider it as a great success." Family members of missing boy protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar

New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): Family members and classmates of a 17-year-boy who went missing protested at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. He has been missing for last 10 days from New Delhi's Mayur Vihar area. He went missing while he was returning from his coaching institute. A case has been registered. They claim that police have found nothing concrete about boy's whereabouts.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Sep 08 (ANI): A woman from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram has set an example for people looking for home-based business opportunities. Padma Suresh, a house wife used her 500 square feet terrace to do organic farming. Beginning as a leisure activity, Padma is generating income by selling organic vegetables in market. There are about 15 varieties of vegetables on her terrace including of tomatoes, beans and okra. Besides her personal use, Padma sells extra vegetables to her regular customers who get in touch with her through WhatsApp group and Facebook group. Padma also assists individuals in cultivation such as preparing soil or planting vegetables. Support that she receives from her family is a matter of great pride for Padma.

Several houses damaged in J-K's Rajouri due to ceasefire violation by Pakistan

Rajouri (J-K), Sep 08 (ANI): Heavy shelling by Pakistan damaged several houses in Kalal and Deeing village in Nowshera of Rajouri district. Indian Army retaliated strongly. Mortar shells were spotted across the village fired by Pakistan Army. Police is present at the spot to assist locals. 5000 'descendants' of Lord Ram flock to Ayodhya, demand swifter decision on Ram temple

Ayodhya (UP), Sep 08 (ANI): Around 5000 people who claimed themselves as descendants of Lord Ram submitted a memorandum to District Magistrate of Faizabad Anup Kumar Jha, in which they mentioned the same. The group, which belonged to Akhand Raghuvanshi Kalyan Samaj, also requested the Supreme Court to quickly take the decision on the Ayodhya land dispute case. While speaking to ANI, a self-proclaimed descendant said, "We appeal that Supreme Court should announce the decision as soon as possible on the Ayodhya land dispute case. New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): The recently amended Motor Vehicles Act will bring change in coming 3-4 months, Minister of Environment and Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said on September 08. Minister said that in coming months there will be less reports on huge traffic fine because till then people get used to following traffic rules. Javadekar was addressing the media on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's 100 days at office in its second consecutive term. Under the new law, penalty for driving without licence has been increased 10 times to 5,000, while penalty for drunk driving has been increased by five times to 10,000.
