New Delhi, Aug 31 (ANI): Exercising does carry a number of benefits and a new study in this regard has found that working out immediately, prior to and during pregnancy restores key tissues, thus, making them better in managing blood sugar levels and decreasing risk of long term health problems. Findings of this study were published in the journal 'Physiological Reports'. Being overweight during pregnancy levels the risk of complications in the mother, such as gestational diabetes, and predisposes both her and the infant to develop metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes in the years after pregnancy. It also has positive effects prior to and during pregnancy, with beneficial outcomes for both mother and her child, preventing excessive gestational weight gain and the development of gestational diabetes, and the need for insulin use in women who have already developed gestational diabetes. Kashmir issue should be resolved bilaterally: Australian High Commissioner

New Delhi, Aug 31 (ANI): Australian High Commissioner to India, Harinder Sidhu at a gala event, Namaste Pacific hosted by New Zealand High Commission, commented on Indian government's move on revoking Article 370 and said that Australia's view on Kashmir has always been that Kashmir is a bilateral issue and should be resolved by both India and Pakistan. While speaking to ANI, Harinder said, "The Indian govt has said it is an internal matter and we respect the Indian position on that. Australia's long held view on Kashmir has been that this is the issue that should be resolved bilaterally by both India and Pakistan." She expressed her views during Namaste Pacific, a cultural gala was jointly hosted by the High Commissions of New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and Fiji at the New Zealand High Commission, Chanakyapuri in New Delhi.

Health dept provide expired tablets to govt schools in UP's Banda

Banda (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 30 (ANI): The health department provided expired Albendazole tablets to government schools in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district on August 29. Investigation is underway in this regard. No school student was administered with the expired medicine as per the government officials. While speaking to ANI, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Banda Santosh Kumar said, "No expired tablets were delivered to the schools. This is a matter of investigation. Tricyles allotted for differently-abled persons found lying in open in UP's Basti

Basti (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 30 (ANI): Tricycles meant to be distributed among differently-abled persons were found lying in open in Uttar Pradesh's Basti district. They were found in open due to lack of storage facilities. The tricycles were supposed to be distributed among differently-abled persons under a scheme of the central government. While speaking to ANI, the Commissioner of Basti Division Anil Kumar Sagar said, "We have taken cognizance of the matter. Action will be taken against the officials of District Welfare Department for differently-abled, who are found responsible for the negligence." "Tricycles will be repaired and given to the needed," Sagar added. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Harish Dwivedi said, "I have got to know this through the media. This is negligence on part of the officials as these tricycles could have been useful for the needy ones. Action will be taken against those found guilty."

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced merger of public sector banks on August 30.While addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said, "Punjab National Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank will be brought together and they shall form the second largest public sector bank with business of Rs 17.95 Lakh Crores." Down South, the Canara Bank and Syndicate Bank will be merged into one single entity. The other merger will be of Union Bank of India, Andhra Bank and the Corporation Bank.

Contractor allegedly burnt alive by Chief Engineer in Bihar's Gopalganj, succumbed to injuries

Gopalganj (Bihar), Aug 30 (ANI): A contractor Ramashankar Singh was allegedly burnt alive at the residence of a Chief Engineer Murlidhar Singh in Bihar's Gopalganj on August 29. He succumbed to injuries while being taken to a city hospital in Gopalganj. While speaking to ANI, Circle Office of Gopalganj Vijay Kumar Singh, Circle Office said, "Contractor had gone to collect some pending payments related to a construction of a building, from the engineer, where the incident took place. After the incident, he was referred to a city hospital for treatment."

This Manipur man saved flora, fauna by replanting 300-acre forest

Imphal (Manipur), Aug 30 (ANI): A man quitted his job to plant different species of plants and bamboo in Manipur's Imphal. Moirangthem Loiya has replanted Punshilok forest in Langol hill-range in 17 years. Loiya hails from Uripok Khaidem Leikai in Imphal West. His story is an inspiration for all given how much flora and fauna he has saved single-handedly. While speaking to ANI said, "Today, forest area covers 300 acres. Around 250 species of plants and 25 species of bamboo grow here and its home to a variety of birds, snakes and wild animals." Meanwhile, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest in Manipur Kereilhouvi Angami said, "We appreciate his efforts. We welcome all those who protect the environment and are engaged in reforestation." Security tightened ahead of final NRC: Assam DGP

Yechury meets CPM's Tarigami in Srinagar, says he'll submit affidavit describing his medical condition

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Friday arrived at Delhi airport after visiting Jammu and Kashmir and meeting his party leader Yousuf Tarigami. Recently, the Supreme Court allowed him to visit the valley and meet his party leader. While speaking to mediapersons, Yechury said, "We have visited the place as per the SC's order. We have talked with comrade Tarigami. The doctors were also called. We will submit an affidavit in the SC describing his medical condition as the SC has ordered for an affidavit. We don't think the situation is same in Kashmir as the government claiming.
